no, nothing can save nintendo at e3, not even zelda. we have already seen zelda, its nothing new.

e3 should be for surprises. oh wow, a new zelda trailer, a game thats been shown at e3 what feels like the last 5 years

RPGrinder3304d ago

Zelda will most likely be game of the show. The Treehouse streams? Some of the most watched content at E3. We saw this last year and the year before.

WeAreLegion3304d ago

Game of the show? Really? It'll be a good game, I'm sure, but that's seriously doubtful.

RPGrinder3304d ago

Game Informer, IGN, Usgamer, Gamespot, ect are already clamoring that it will be. Journalists have already confirmed that the Zelda demo/booth is already going to be booked solid and likely the most popular spot at E3.

Listen up Nintendo fans and listen good! I don't care how many self-published games Nintendo has done this year because it still amounts to zero in my book. When a company can't get the trust of other 3rd party companies or indie developers without paying up front then there is a problem. A problem that has grown with the company called Nintendo throughout the years and continues to weigh and slow it down. Even after all the problems they have gone through they continue to take away from it's fans with little to no game releases, little to no .communcation, and worst of all they just won't humble themselfs sigh... However know this, with the failed release of the NX they will be brought to eye level and make new games, they will then make efforts to understand our culture and our ideas. It's coming...it's been a long time coming but it comes just the same!

The 10th Rider3304d ago

Zelda Wii U/NX has been shown at E3 exactly once, with a tiny snippet of 'in-engine' footage. So no, you're wrong.

That being said, Nintendo just isn't going to have a great showing this year. They're gearing for the NX and it's unlikely they have any big surprises left for Wii U. Since they're not announcing the NX yet, It's going to be a very light year for them. Zelda will likely be impressive and amazing, but other than that and Pokemon Sun/Moon/Go, Nintendo will barely be there.

Lonnie183304d ago

That's the thing and I'm glad you said it Zelda is not new and should already be out on the Wii U! Nintendo just delayed it so they could use it as a launch title but by doing so they screwed over so many gamers. It's just Mario, Zelda, and Pokomon all the time. Of course the hardcore Nintendo fan will say but what about that kiddie game Splattoon lol...I will never let Nintendo play with my feelings so I don't buy their stuff...

RPGrinder3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

Fire Emblem and Xenoblade are kiddie? LOL

"Nintendo just delayed it so they could use it as a launch title but by doing so they screwed over so many gamers." Factless

" It's just Mario, Zelda, and Pokomon all the time."

Yeah lets ignore Kirby, Rythem heaven, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade x, Splatoon and other games from the last 12 months.

" that kiddie game Splattoon lol" You mean the highest selling console exclusive of this gen?

@Sono4215

Splatoon is closing in on 6 mil. Do not call me out if you do not have a clue.

The 10th Rider3304d ago

That kiddie game 'Splattoon' won many awards for best shooter and best multiplayer game last year. I suppose you'd rather go back to playing Battlefield Hardline, Battlefront, Call of Duty, etc...?

Also, if you think "It's just Mario, Zelda, and Pokomon all the time" you clearly haven't taken a look at the 3DS library.

The only console Zelda game yet that wasn't unique and different was Twilight Princess—which was in many ways similar to an updated, more mature Ocarina of Time.

Sono4213304d ago

RPGrinder... while I do agree that Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon aren't all Nintendo puts out.. I will have to disagree (because of facts) about Splatoon being the highest selling exclusive of this gen... because it simply is not. Not only does it not take the #1 spot now... but Uncharted 4 sold 2.7 Million copies in it's first week... Splatoon just hit 4 Million in febuary.. when it came out last May... it isn't doing anything too impressive in terms of sales so the fact that you even tried to pass it off as the highest selling exclusive this gen is pretty idiotic.

KaladinStormblessed3304d ago

Umm none of the other developers have any big surprises coming around, majority of the games they announced at last years E3 haven't even released yet, so expect more of those. They've released their schedule, and doesn't look all that promising either.

I mean sure we'll be soooo "excited" to see the next Just Dance. All we see are sequels to mediocre games like Titanfall, not to mention the showing just to talk about new Destiny DLC?

wonderfulmonkeyman3304d ago

We've seen a small preview of Zelda.

That only qualifies as having "seen" it in the most barren and shallow sense of the term, especially considering that was early development footage and they've made changes since.

There's more than likely going to be PLENTY of surprises in the new Zelda to see and enjoy.
Then there's also Pokemon, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and other games to see more details of during the Treehouse, in addition to any surprises they've been keeping in check.[No one saw Bayonetta 2 coming. That wasn't even listed as "a surprise" at any point. They've done things like that before, they can do it again.]

You really need to stop coming onto articles dedicated to a company you have a rabid hatred for.

It really seems like Nintendo is running scared these days, with all the new gaming products coming out later this year and next year (Oculus Rift, PSVR, Vive, Neo, Scorpio, etc). Nintendo just seems to be lost right now, in terms of their future gaming platforms.

RPGrinder3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

Nintendo has released more games than Sony and Microsoft combined this year. They also have a game in Pokemon Sun/Moon that will outsell any software MS or Sony put out. Yeah, running scared lol. Hell most people think Sony and MS are out of their minds with Neo and Scorpio.

@Naji
Xenoblade X, Splatoon, Mario 3d world, Yoshi's wolly world, Kirby, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, Captain Toad, Pokken, Twilight HD/Windwaker HD ect were not up to snuff? Funny how you ignore 90% of the Wii U library. Wii U's first party output has been as good. Funny how you ignore 3DS too.

@Christopher

Statement one of more is fact. MS and Sony combined have not published 10+ games this year already like Nintendo has. Nintendo for the last 10 years has brought in more revenue from the game division than Sony or MS. This is the first year in many years since Sony made more Money than Nintendo from the game division.

naji20043304d ago

Nintendo latest Wii U releases lately were not up to Nintendo's old days Snes, N64, GameCube standards. games like Mario Tennis are considered gimics and missing lots of contents, Starfox 0 is GameCube Quality graphics with very hard controls, and the two Zelda's are remasters of 1996 games etc. I wish Nintendo's finds it's true path soon though.

Christopher3304d ago

Well, #1, your statement of "more" is false. #2, the problem is the console is currently really just for those games you can't get anywhere else while MS and Sony get tons of revenue from third-party developers. More so from them than Nintendo gets all together on the Wiiu.

pcz3304d ago

i agree, nintendo are becoming less and less competitive.

zelda wiiu could possibly be the game of the show, but im personally looking for more than zelda. i want variety, i want choice. nintendo arent offering that.

the consequence will naturally be that people, including myself will look elsewhere for the experiences that nintendo arent providing. ie, people will become interested in what sony and microsoft have to show.

its a big problem for nintendo, but one they dont seem to care about, which is worrying.

and as you said, on top of the wealth of software, sony/micro also have their VR technology coming, ALONG with upgraded versions of their hardware.. they are being extremely competitive.

e3 would have been the perfect oppertunity for nintendo to reassure fans and potential customers that nintendo has a lot to offer... instead, they devote the show to one single game...

Zeldafan643304d ago

Nintendo for the most part don't like to show off a game until it's within less than a year before release. The only exceptions are Zelda, Xenoblade X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Bayonetta 2. 4 games they showed or just said were in development way early. How many games did Sony show last E3 that won't be out before 2017? Games early in development were most of what Sony showed last year. Nintendo has several dev teams that have been working on almost assuredly big games for at least 2 and a half years and I'm pretty much certain those games will all be released within the first year of the NX's life. Nintendo will have AT LEAST 5 big first party titles released by the end of next year on NX.

AKR3304d ago

Considering Nintendo has been keeping all of their major announcements under lock-and-key, I don't see how they come off as "seeming lost".

The level of melancholy seems to increase daily on this site.

I think the show is going to be rather great. There will be surprises.

Zelda, Pokemon, Tokyo Mirage, Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, these games are must buys to me and guess what? They are actually scheduled to be released. Nintendo has released more games this year than any publisher. I am extremely happy with Nintendo as a software purchaser this year.

I am really looking forward to the treehouse. That is the reason most think they won E3 2014. They are likable people who I enjoy watching play games. The games appeal to me.

"As we speak, Sony Corp. (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are preparing groundbreaking announcements that will become the highlights of this year’s E3. Both giants are rumored to announce new hardware in the form of upgraded console and slim revisions."

All you need to know about this article. Did not even do research to realize that both are not showing new hardware either Just another factless Nintendo slam piece. Do not open it to give them hits.

WeAreLegion3304d ago

Disappointing? They're not even doing a conference. What's to be disappointed about?

The 10th Rider3304d ago

Yeah, I'm a Nintendo fan and I recognize they're barely going to be there this year. 90 minutes of Zelda should be awesome, though. I don't have high expectations outside of some Zelda info, so as long as we get that I guess I'm content.

I support their decision to focus development on the NX, which is what's causing their light E3 this year... But whatever event they announce that at, they'd better not screw it up.

pcz3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

im going to be honest, i want to see as little of the new zelda as possible. i dont like to ruin new zelda games with spoilers, and a 90 min demo sounds like a game ruining play through for a spectating fan.

i will most likely watch the new trailer, and read the write ups- im not interested in seeing somebody play a game at length that i want to be a fresh and new experience.

of course im excited for the NX, but after what has largely been a farce of a generation with the wiiu, i have naturally lost faith in nintendo's ability to deliver something that is actually worth buying.

so yes, im excited, but im sceptical.

Pretty much just clickbait opinion. IMO, Switch 2 is everything I loved about Switch, but much more refined and perfected. As someone with a huge library of physical Switch 1 games, I’m stoked with the enhanced performance on my existing games, and very excited for the future once devs start optimizing engines for the platform. Game Chat is excellent, the controllers are excellent. Anyways, I love it so far.

It’s really old now. All great MMOs decline.

PRIMORDUS10h ago

Also who wants to keep paying a monthly fee every month, there are other options like Guild Wars 2 😁with no monthly fee and while not that many people overall compared to FF XIV, it did increase to about 21 mil now.

Sephiroushin22m ago(Edited 21m ago)

I prefer to pay since i do not like guild wars and it keep kids away, but FF14 decreased on quality since they started to make it "more accessible", tried throne and liberty and while it was okay it has so many issues, same for dune awakening... Its time to start making a new FF MMO

kaewcha73411h ago

Looks like Square Enix is self-aware but still stuck in place, they see the player drop and apologize for the bugs, but nothing really changes. Shame, FFXIV used to be the gold standard

Servbot4110h ago

My entire free company has stopped playing. The writing has consistently gotten worse and the content is sparse and lacking; unless you are a hardcore player there's very little for you to do. They are over-catering to the people who will grind three+ times a week on a single fight for multiple months when the playerbase by large doesn't want that sort of content. Square needs to dedicate more resources to the game instead of wasting them on mobile and other live service slop.

Miraak82 4h ago

The biggest factor for me is the way they butchered job design over the years , the casualization and over simplification really hurt a good chunk of enjoyment I used to have . Jobs lost any form of complexity and just became " press glowing button" DDR style for fighting where the gameplay loop is a about the 2 minute burst window . They removed most DoTS, timer mechanics , cast times, pets, RNG ect and all around homogenized everything . When you try and can cater to everyone ... you cater to no one .
