The large number of platforms definitely hurt the most. Too bad Capcom didn't oversee this game.

Gaming_Cousin2877d ago (Edited 2877d ago )

It wasn't the contrast to the concept art? Have you seen the concept art?

Trump: "Mighty No. 9 is a mess. Mighty No. 9 is a waste. Mighty No. 9 is a big fat mistake."

Hold_It2877d ago

Dear god, that is terrible.

Easily the biggest scam of Kickstarter. There's no way it took millions of dollars to produce that sub PS2 looking game.

Godmars2902877d ago

"MIGHTY NUMBER-NINE LAUNCH YOUR @$$ INTO OUTER-SPACE!"

Yeah, couldn't let that one go.

Segata2877d ago

Go look at the early test footage and it looked much better. Hell 20XX on steam looks like it will be a better game and everything MN9 should have been

Darkfist2877d ago

funny thing so is bloodstained, the concept art looks great then you see the 3d gameplay slow and clunky for a castlevania-like game, while shantae: half-genie managed to keep its concept art style simply because its not 3d

Capcom would have never even made it......

Consider they cancelled several Mega Man games, they couldn't even afford to make this game at this state. Maybe OLD Capcom could have done it, but not the current.

Godmars2902877d ago

"Too bad Capcom didn't oversee this game."

Um, kind of the point actually. Especially considering the state Capcom was in at the time.

Not that you can tell any difference now...

CrimsonWing692877d ago

You can take the man out of Capcom but you can't take the Capcom out of the man.

LackTrue4K2877d ago

The game looked like they try too hard to sell it as a mega man clone. And I never really didn't like that approach on the game.

Then after they started there kick starter, the little hype that I had for the game died with that.

I think it just limits the developers ideas/ and motivation and making a great game.

Not dissing any kick starter games, just this one.

ShaunCameron2876d ago

So much for multiplatform being the way to go. Its potential combined sales won't be enough to recoup.

I'm guessing Inafune used all that kickstarter money on strip clubs and hookers. There's no way a game like with $3.5million budget should look this bad. Look at a game like Dragon's Crown on the PS3. Beautifully handdrawn graphics, and a budget of $1 million. I'm truly disappointed. Inafune has lost all credibility, and most importantly the gamers' "trust."

_-EDMIX-_2877d ago

Well, we don't know where all the money is going so we can't actually say that.

Also its being released on many, many platforms so lots of that money is likely due to development on multiple platforms.

I mean....Dragon's Crown does look good, but its also backed by a well known publisher and only released on 2 platforms.

Mighty No 9 is being released on 11 platforms and its crowd funded...

Lets at least weight out the differences first before making such claims.

KentBenMei2877d ago

A very intelligent and well thought out post. Good job, I agree.

plmkoh2877d ago (Edited 2877d ago )

Isn't Mighty No.9 published by Deep Silver?

XanderZane2877d ago

I'm very disappointed in the final result. It definitely didn't cost any $4 million to make this game. I'm pretty sure $1-2 went into the developer's family and friends pockets instead. I won't anything else this guy makes.

Lol, I literally said that out loud when clicking on this article.

VersusDMC631d ago

Only tried the demos for both and mighty 9 looked atrocious. Megaman 11 was fun and polished. Never played both full versions but will see it they are on PS Extra when i get home.

Mostly get my megaman fix playing the azure gunvolt games and spin offs. And Maverick Hunter X on my Vita.

VersusDMC630d ago

Just tried Mighty No 9 again on PSExtra...graphics are atrocious and taking down enemies by dashing into them feels so hollow.

Kickstarter's Gaming Successes Prove Big Gaming Doesn't Know What Fans Want

Kickstarter has allowed game developers all over the world to bring their respective visions to life, while AAA Studios remains out of touch.

TheEnigma3131513d ago

This is very true. Companies like EA, UBI, MS seem to be disconnected from what fans want.

AK911512d ago

Um I’m not too sure about that check how well those games sold besides the money they got from Kickstarter they didn’t sell nearly as much as most games from publishers (AAA or not).

The unfortunate reality is these days games like Shenmue 3 and Bloodstained are incredibly niche and the only way it could survive is by use of a fan funded website like Kickstarter.

No Man's Sky had the most disappointing launch after the massive hype.

It also had the best turn around of any game.

Today it is basically a mammoth sandbox/city builder/space sim/casual podcast in the background meditative play. Love it right now.

smolinsk1519d ago (Edited 1519d ago )

But you jumped on the hype train without seeing what the game really came with.

Sean Murry absolutely caught up in the hype and talk about future stuff that wasen't there from the start.

But what i was promised before the game came out was an unlimited univers and everybody else was looking forward to just that and nothing else. So he gave us just that..that people could not see the true picture about an Early access kind of game was delusional, it was so clear it was not ready...

akaFullMetal1520d ago

CD3, and ff15, maybe shemue 3, I feel are more recent disappoinments than Duke nukem and perfect dark.

Anthem was predicted to be a failure from its beginning especially since the last game Bioware put out was the abomination called Andromeda.
