I don't think they'll making anything of that caliber again anytime soon. They were overtaken by new management and fully switched to F2P models and shorter, cheaper games. This is actually the reason Epic's Gears of war 4 concept was halted and MS decided to buy it before it disappeared.

Its good that it isnt going to xbox right now as the servers are having issues with pc and ps4 players. Lots of lag right now. Hopefully once its fixed it becomes available on xbox as theres more people to play with = shorte queues

I honestly don't think this is a game Sony would be willing to spend money on to keep exclusive... Then again, Somy are doing well enough that then may be able to splurge their money a bit.

Not necessarily although it is possible.

For this game to go to the PS4 and PC it will most likely use open API's like Vulkan rather than DirectX which is Microsoft proprietary and effectively locks developers to Microsoft platforms. I am aware that a developer can develop games that can be ported between the two API's but this still requires some effort and cost on the part of the developer.

Using an open API that is common across your target platforms (ie. PS4 and PC) makes financial sense.

Don't see your point. Vulkan works on XBoxOne. Also, it uses Unreal 4 engine. Developers don't have to worry about the API at all. That's part of what the engine is for.

Honestly, I never knew this game wasn't coming out to the Xbox. Since it was Epic, I just assumed it would because they always had a good relationship with Xbox.

After reading this article i think the headline is a bit misleading. They have not ruled out coming to xbox one at all, they state that they are focusing on ps4 and pc just now, sony have been great partners ... basically in a nut shell, sony offered money for advertisement rights and gave them a bit more money, within a year they will either say they are considering an xbox one version or bring it out.

Yet, if they announce tomorrow that is coming to xbox One, some here would be saying : nice, wow, awesome game.

Trash talking the game because is not coming to your console will not make the game fail as you would like.

Just a wise business decision by Epic since the PS4 has a larger install base. It will come out on Xbox One eventually I guess.

Wouldn't be surprised. The plan was to cross play and at the time, MS had a strict policy. Throw in a little sony money and the fact of the bigger install base gives you enough reason to choose ps4/pc first.

It's just a switcheroo. Each generation you see developers and publishers do this. Epic was mighty last gen with UE and Gears. Now that they no longer have Gears and developers are using other engines, Epic needs money and support. Overwatch is out and is currently overshadowing everything, including Bloodborn which I play daily. Epic isn't the powerhouse they used to be without MS funding them. Last gen half the games made were with UE3, don't see that as much nowadays. Good luck Epic.

I see a lot of Sony hating on here, but did anyone stop to consider that may be the dev has ruled out a port to XBox for now because if they did, then maybe, they may of been forced to push it through the MS store, rather than steam, which we all know has the larger user base for PC owners and thus would of generated them less revenue back in return.

But that's my take on it. Not Sony's fault or MS. Just the devs choice

I mean if Microsoft forced them to exclusively release the game on Windows store to achieve crossplatform play then I could understand the situation. But there's no such requirements for cross platform play on Microsofts side of the fence.
