Could long overdue PlayStation 3 exclusive Agent make a re-appearance at E3 2016 next week?
Wow I forgot about this game.
I haven't. R* stills owns that IP to Sony Edit: Owes* Good point about FF15 @Deadly. That could happen here. I;d be just content that the game still exists
Owns? Or owes? Because if you mean owes that doesn't really mean much in the gaming industry considering games like FFvs13 going multiplatform. Lol those disagrees. Wow, you guys keep holding out for a game that clearly doesn't exist.
Owes is what he meant, it doesn't matter, because the money eventually either got spent on the deals they've been making on their last games (GTAV, LA Noire, and Red Dead Redemption) or they made other deals that made those deals available.
I also would like to state the fact that an IP of rockstar is a value in the eyes of take-two, the name of Rockstar on a game sells a lot, in other means, it's hard to actually make a deal when you know the profit of the game will be larger with other consoles and PC (larger than the payment of the deal that is).
How? It'd be the one good thing to come from R* besides RDR and L.A. Noire.
Last Year was The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Shenmue III and Ni-Oh. I Hope this year will be Agent, Crash Bandicoot and Beyond Good & Evil 2
Beyond Good & Evil 2.... I never considered that a possibility. Michel Ancel is involved with WiLD, but he could be involved with a sequel to that awesome game too.
And Half Life 3! Hopefully, please Gabe!
I really think Agent is dead and that R* are working on Red Dead and GTA
Pretty much. What ever deal Sony had with R* was probably settle behind close doors. I don't see Sony giving R* tons of money for this long with just empty promises.
RockStar owes PlayStation money instead since PlayStation was the one who funded mostly L.A. Noire while R* really didn't put much at all so the reason Agent was announced as PlayStation exclusive because R* owes them money but right now either R* gave the money they owes PlayStation or Agent is still exclusive.
I don't think so. Renewing this trademark so close to E3 I feel is significant. Red Dead is a given, but GTA V will continue to print money for Take Two for years to come.
This is the third year in a row that they renewed the Agent trademark right before E3: http://tsdr.uspto.gov/#case... May 21, 2014 May 28, 2015 June 1, 2016 Looks like it's just that time of year again.
E3 should be fun!!!
Im not going to hold my breath. Its been 7 years since the announcement. I'll believe it when they show off gameplay. E3 is next week so maybe we get something official.
I think agent is the new ip they have been working on. Not only that but sony has the largest install base so this would be the best time to release the new exclusive ip .
Rockstar still owning this IP gives me hope that it just might come out 1 day. if not, won't be sad, we don't know anything about it other than its name.
All signs point to it being used as another The Last Gaurdian.
I'm not going to speculate on any games being shown at E3. We get let down every time we lead too much into that.
Rockstar needs to do something! they owe Sony this game or any game so now is the time!! No more waiting!!! I've been waiting forever for this reveal!!!
I doubt they still owe Sony anything and R* probably paid them back the money Sony them for LA Noire . Don't think any company would give another company money for over 7 years and nothing has been produced.
It's not always money owed, but an end product. It's like contractual obligations from record labels, that demand 2 or 3 albums from a music artist before they can move on to another label. Rockstar seem to owe Sony an end-product in being an exclusive game. Of course, many of the details are unknown so it's all speculation, but it doesn't always relate to cold hard finance.
DigiRaptor you might be right but one would think that these types of deal would usually have a time period on when the vendor is suppose to deliver said product or expiration of deal. Sony could have taken R* to court by now since they have released about 5 other games since Agent was revealed. Either that or Sony really want an exclusive game from R* and are willing to wait forever if they have to.
I like to know where exactly are people getting this notion that R* owes anything to sony? Not one media site has reported that R* still owes or has ever owed Sony anything. I doubt that R* would keep in Sony's debt for this long.
sony: the last guardian shenmue 3 FF7 remake so either this years show will be lackluster compared to last or sony will bring the thunder once more R* will most likely have sony announce their next game(red dead) just like sony announced gta 5 next gen versions. agent was never ever cancelled. it was confirmed to be in development by their ceo now that long back i think agent is very real and will come out, i am not sure if it will be exclusive though. sony did let R* out of their original GTA deal with gta 4 came out(originally gta 4 was suppose to be timed exclusive just like how gta games were exclusive on ps2) sony also pretty much spent over 20 million on la noire only to hand the IP to R* let's see. imagine if sony starts this years show with crash and in the middle show agent(coming to ps4 first)
Eight Days and The Getaway were put on hold, but not canceled, so it's possible that those games, along with Agent just couldn't be made to run well enough on PS3, so they got moved to PS4 when hardware was finalized. This is what happened with Ni-Oh and The Last Guardian, could easily be what happened to all of those games. Maybe this E3 we'll get new announcements for those games now being on PS4.
I don't know anything about this game other than R* owns Sony it. Seeing how they recently renewed the trademark after all this time must mean something. R* is a big team I don't see why they can't work on this alongside whatever else they're working on cough cough...RDR2
I wish #1 developers in gaming
It's hard to imagine an exclusive Rockstar game on PS4. Although, in hindsight it was even more odd to me that a PS3 exclusive from them was in the works. PS4 has a way tougher grasp on the market than PS3 did, so I can't act so doubtful. If Crash Bandicoot and Agent are shown at E3, I will no longer question how they're going to upstage themselves for the next show, or what is possible in general. They will find a way.
Rockstar doesn't do E3.
they do this year or haven't you heard ?
Rockstar and Sony have had a good relationship for years and that deal could have been worked out behind closed doors but that doesn't mean that the deal is dead. Fanboys forget that GTA used to be only on playstation before MS bought their the right to exclusivity with the DLC. Sony doesn't need to buy exclusivity when they have created better relationships with developers and publishers. LOL
R* wouldnt be holding onto the ip if they aint gonna use it. Agent is a common term and others may want to use it, there's a limit to the number of extensions before it cant be extended anymore, so likelihood is that they are still working on it and will be their title after red dead (could replace both max payne and la noire dev time from last gens r* games)
Every year the same wishful thinking.
Wasn't this announced a decade ago? I mean if it's not good, don't show it. But hey, I'd love to see Rockstar do a proper spy game.
God, I hope so. I've been waiting for Agent since the first rumor surfaced. Feels like it's been ages.
Agent is dead in the water. If it ever shows up again I will be surprised.
They've renewed it several times. I wouldn't get excited.
Glad to see this wasn't left on the wayside. It was concerning to not hear anything for a while.
It's been soooo long, I hope it can live up to expectations. I never forgot about it ever since they announced it.
Nice, now games are being recycled from last gen that didn't even ship!
i hope a X1 version is coming someday
