There is nothing left for the Sony PlayStation 4 to beat. It is the best console in the market for this generation by miles, and its rivals are floundering in their own ways. Well, there is still s…
Playstation is definitely numero uno in the console world. It's got the exclusives, power, superior performance, VR soon, top level developers and indie support. I don't care about "features and updates", I care about games, and the majority of gamers care about GAMES, and Playstation has that covered in spades. There's many reasons why the PS4 is dominating all other consoles, and no, it's not because XBOX had a bad reveal or the conspiracy that the media made everyone think the XBox was still doing things they talked about during their reveal. PlayStation is a global powerhouse. Always was, always will be. When XBox starts to open some new studios, and start releasing quality games throughout the year instead of cramming all they haveduring the holidays, and concentrating on making XBox a successful brand globally, then maybe they will have some of the success that PlayStation has, and MAYBE I would consider purchasing one. They would also have to repair their image and earn my trust back. They definitely lost that with their draconian policies and RROD fiasco...
You're absolutely delusional if you think Microsoft's complete blunder with their reveal has nothing to do with PS4's blazing start right outta the gate. That doesn't take anything away from the PlayStation brand and what they've brought to the industry in their own right.
@KwietStorm XBOX fanboys love using that as their excuse as to why it didn't sell as much, and it gave PS the lead JUST because of that. When in reality, it is all the good things about PlayStation and it's long living brand name that sold consoles. People knew they were getting a quality console with the most exclusives and most variety. YOU are delusional if you think that is the reason XBox was left in the dust this gen. The only reason PS3 didn't sell like the PS4 did, is because they made a few mistakes with the release, and XBox's actual numbers were inflated due to RRoD.
Here's the thing: Most consumers DON't watch E3. After 2 and a half years, it would be amazing if they even remember the terrible policies MS were trying to enforce on the Xbox one. After all this, the PS4 is selling because it's a PlayStation. People know what to expect. With games like U4 and R&C, people are jumping on PS4 now more than ever.
Xbox and GC are superior than PS2 in power and performance.
Nobody said anything about PS3. But since you brought it up, yea it had it's own problems, like being expensive, being difficult to program for, and launching a year later. I'm nowhere near an Xbox fanboy, so throw that out too. There's nothing to even figure out. The terrible unveiling of the Xbox One was clearly a part of what drove a lot of people to PS4, Xbox gamers included. Yes, it's a PlayStation, but be real about it. If you followed even a little bit of what was happening, you should know that PS4 was the people's champ pretty much immediately, and that isn't because of the name on the console. So just as easily as you want to call someone a fanboy, it can be said to you if in 2016 you're still saying 360 had inflated numbers when you have absolutely no facts to make these claims, other than people saying the same on the internet.
Okay, dude. Lol I never called YOU a fanboy, but if the shoe fits... I know nobody said anything about PS3, but then I did, because it was relevant to my comment and the subject matter. The only thing that the bad XBOX unveiling did was throw some casuals into the PS side, because you know damn well that a XBox fanboy would NEVER believe their system was junk, even when they are getting shat on constantly, and given sparse amounts of games. (Sound familiar? It is happening to them now, yet they praise XBox as the second coming of Jesus.) I do follow "at least a little bit of what's happening". I actually follow very, very closely what is happening, and have been for over 20 years. Yes, XBOX numbers WERE inflated, and you are naive if you don't believe that. If XBox PR has been any indication, you would realize how shady they are with not only numbers, but also how shady they are with their gaming company as a whole. Who introduced horrible gaming practices such as DLC, money-hatting 3rd party deals, online paywalls, etc, hmm? XBox is a disease to gaming. I am not calling you a fanboy, or even saying that you fall into any of these categories, I am merely presenting what I believe, what I have seen, and what I know as fact. Take what I say as you please.
"it can be said to you if in 2016 you're still saying 360 had inflated numbers when you have absolutely no facts to make these claims, other than people saying the same on the internet" You seem to have some sense in you so I'll ask you this; Do you actually deny the fact that people who had to go through 2(including your's truly), 3, 4 or even 5 xbox 360s did not inflate the 360's total sales number? If not, how is that mathematically possible? Did MS track sales per individual user basis and removed all extra purchases from their periodic sale No announcements? Be honest now!
If the shoe fits? I don't even own a damn Xbox. Shit man lol you cannot say a single thing on this site that doesn't praise the almighty PlayStation. It's ok to love the games that PlayStation has given to us all, but I can't believe the disagrees or what I'm reading here. Are we really going to act like the huge fallout of the Xbox One wasn't a thing? It's not *the* reason PS4 is doing so well, but it's logically a big part of why it took off *immediately.* No, you don't have to watch E3 as a gamer, but there is a difference between marketshare and mindshare. People were spreading word about the ridiculous policies Microsoft tried to put in place. A whole year after both consoles released, there were people who still thought the Xbox didn't play used games. You remember the whole thing with that, right? The cheering in the crowd at Sony's presser? The joke ad the Shu and Adam Boyes did? That was a thing, and it resonated with people. Xbox was getting hammered in preorders, while PS4 was skyrocketing, and so Microsoft changed their gameplan. The complete imbalance between the two was not just because it's a PlayStation 4. It would be asinine to say so. PS4 isn't going to sell record setting numbers based on any one thing. The point is Microsoft helped some people make their decision very early on, and PS4 itself took over from there. You're calling people fanboys, and you're saying Xbox is a disease to gaming at the same time. Try looking at what transpired between then and now objectively
"PlayStation 4 Stands To Overtake Best-Seller PS2" WTH - I didn't think it was selling /that/ well. Damn. The PS2 was a HypeBeast!
It not even close. 40m - 155m
It's selling faster then the ps2 did. Ps2 average is 12 million per year , ps4 is 16 million . Ps4 is the fastest selling console ever, no console has ever sold 40 million in just over 2 1/2 years .
@Jack You're right about PS4 outpacing PS2. But the Wii sold 40 million in under 2 years. http://vgsales.wikia.com/wi... It sold 44.9 million by december, and 50.4 by march 2009, so the PS4 is still 10 million behind the Wii. There's little doubt it won't eventually outpace the Wii though.
You didn't honestly think the total sales were being compared... honestly
It's selling faster than PS2 did in the same time. But I think because of short console cycle, or these new mid-gen consoles, PS4 will never reach the PS2 numbers. I think NO consoles will ever reach those numbers now just because this is a different time and market than PS2-era.
PS4 is currently the 2nd fastest selling console of all time behind the Wii, but this will most likely change by next year. I'm also certain that PS4 will have the longevity to outsell PS2.
