PS4 is the current undisputed console champion; will it be able to survive the sting of Microsoft's rumored “Scorpio”?
Wow i was expecting a dumb article but thos guy hit it right on the head.Like I said you can have a top of the line console with the latest tech but if it Doesnt have the games "THAT PEOPLE WANT" no one is gonna buy your junk.
Yea I think too many articles are making assumptions though. If the rumours have it there would be 3 or 4 new devices from Ms and their message might be a bit confusing. I don't know for xbox but playstation needs to focus on new games and I believe that what they ll be doing. I hope Sony conference is all about new games
PS2 broke through any competition with ease even if ti was the weakest console in its era (Both Xbox and Gamecube were more powerful and didnt even dent its successful expand)... now that PS4 has 40 million userbase i dont think there is any chance for competition even if the gap in power and performance is big.. they r just saving their names for continuing business in console industry that s all
it's easy to do more powerful. The real question is: at what price?
if the scorpio can offer a better vr experience, also support hololens, and get all the pc game support for a reasonable price then they might get the ball rolling more than the xbox one did. however until microsoft invests more into its own game studios i dont see them warding off sony or the ps4.
XB1S should be compared to PS4Neo, not PS4. If we're talking about sheer power? - XB1S has the lead as rumours go. It won't matter that much "IF" XB1S doesn't have its own exclusive games (except VR games), i.e; not running on XB1. If XB1S turns out to be XB2 with exclusive games, THEN Sony would want to release a PS5 asap. Other than that, I don't see much problem. Feel free to correct me.
Sony shouldn't have to rush anything out to the market just because their competition is abandoning their product and trying to move on. Sony is at an all time high, and should use that time to expand their delivery of services and products to their current install base instead of ditching them when it hasn't even been 3 years since these consoles released.
I think more to the point is how much, exactly, will a 6 teraflop xbox scorpio cost? Because when you look at the shift in Microsoft strategy, with all (and I do mean all) of their first party titles being available on pc, why buy an expensive console that will be replaced by a new, more powerful xbox in 3 years when you could build a pc and upgrade at your leisure, while still getting to play the entire Microsoft gaming library? I think the thing that really will slow the adoption of the Scorpio is Microsoft having no true exclusives left. At least with the Neo or NX, if you choose to buy one, you know you will be playing experiences that are only possible on PS or Nintendo systems. At least that is how it stands at the moment, and I can't see Sony or Nintendo opening up to pc the way Microsoft has....now that open attitude is great for the rest of Microsoft as a company, but not so great for their console division.
Sure all I keep hearing is that power doesn't matter. It's about the games so yeah ps4 has absolutely nothing to worry about. It's got plenty of both.
Well I'm a Xbox gamer and PS4 owner who knows the PS4 won't have a problem dealing with the Scorpio as far as sales. Even if the Scorpio has better specs PS4 just has the reputation. I prefer Xbox but can't deny that Playstation rules. But I will purchase a Scorpio and probably not the Neo.
The first Xbox was had more power then ps2 and never did owt the only shift Sony did is add networks
OMG stop making articles about a piece of hardware we know nothing about. FOR FUCK SAKES are you people payed to write this shit?
The Scorpions sting? Really?
It's pretty clear they chose that names for a reason though.
All I can think of is all the times sites such as this kept calling the 360 the leader of its gen after the Wii initially blew it out of the water and the PS3 only kept up on it. Until the Xbox brand has a unique library to support it and is more consumer friendly than just PR slogans insisting that it is its never truly going to win.
lets wait till one of these consoles is actually announced
Lol..I laugh at these articles. Even as more of an Xbox player, I know PS has nothing to worry about. This gens lead is pretty much insurmountable...
All the power in the world is nothing without a convincing and competitive games lineup.
Every Day the same Bullshit... Multiplats are always the Key... Somebody who love jrpg always buy Ps But the most gamer are casual and give a shit about that. They want Fifa Cod Bf and the others big Multiplats in the best available Quality.
...Nothing has been announced yet. This speculation is really annoying now.
Power or not power, the PS4 will continue with its success. PS4 or PS4 Neo, they have enough to ward off whatever (next ps or next xbox excluded, real next-gen and not updated ones). Xbox fanboys can disagree with this fact but for now all points to that direction.
Depends on the size of the Scorpion ................Small one massive poison production means instant death , larger one not so much poison but still can kill.... So here's to a mixture of them ...
The fact is that none of these consoles have been confirmed by either Microsoft or Sony and even if they do exist, there is every likelihood that the specs will change depending on what the rival is proposing. The article is correct in that without exclusives, the souped-up consoles will be wasted. PS2 was actually underpowered when compared with the first Xbox but this made no difference as the PS2 had the reputation of Sony behind it backed by tons of exclusives. Even this gen, the Xbox One could have done better if the console had more exclusives released for it but Microsoft has not seen fit to invest in original IPs relying mostly on their three main exclusive franchises, Halo, Gears of War and Forza. There have been some new exclusives such as Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break but these have few and not successful as was hoped or expected. With Xbox exclusives now being released on PC, the console has become redundant, a situation that will not change with the rumored Scorpio unless Microsofft invests in several new IPs immediately which are then only released on Scorpio. The PS4 has a lot more going for it - the console is good and stable, Sony has so many exclusives on the way this year alone and if they are even remotely close to the quality of Uncharted 4, gamers are in for a fantastic year. Added to all this is the release of the PSVR which has already had some success with pre-orders selling out almost immediately and the games for VR which will only add to the number of games already being released for the PS4. Most gamers know that whether the NEO or another Sony console is released or not, the PS4 will continue to be supported and games will be released for it for a long time and this is why Sony has nothing to worry about. If the Scorpio threatens their market, Sony can always release an even better console or just double down on the games until it is time for PS5.
New hardware is leaving ps4 in the dust, games running at 30fps graphics turned down. Sony will ditch the ps4 too. People will laugh at ps4 versions of games compared to neo, scorpio, pc and developers aren't going to jump through hoops to work miracles on ps4 or xbox one just get ready to buy more hardware!
Life is confusing you son....seek help.
"power doesn't matter" (as stated by the xbox community for 3 consecutive years)
Love how power has always been a huge advantage up until now when all of a sudden it doesn't really matter coincidentally. It's all about the games Before I get hate, I've always been in the 'games over specs' camp since the 360 days so don't try and smear me. I just find the flip-flopping of others funny.
