Frontwire, the developer behind the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront III remake, Galaxy in Turmoil, has revealed that Valve has agreed to distribute.....
This is a very interesting read. Also your site is a very good source of news so I have book marked you. Thanks.
I don't see this getting a pass from Disney. A free Star Wars game that is a direct competitor of Star Wars Battlefront which is still being supported with a sequel on the way. Yeah...definitely going to get shut down unfortunately.
Yeah I think your right, shame.
They cant since its free, if we had to pay then they have the rights to shut it down and probably sue
That is not true, The free WOW servers just got shutdown and it was free yet it was still shutdown
@sashimi I'm not entirely sure how it works but WoW servers got shutdown because they're using exact WoW assets. Renegade X is a remake of C&C Renegade and EA has had no issues with it since it's free.
Things don't work how you think they work. As long as you are using the property of another persons they can do something legally. On the other hand, your country of origin can protect you.
Doesn't matter, it's copyright infringement.
@sashimi Not necessarily the same situation. Disney is letting the kotor remake happen. the thing with WoW is that you are paying to play the game that blizzard themselves have made. Not only is the base game the same but, they have decided to charge to actually play the game monthly. Its much easier to see why a wow free server would get shutdown. Essentially disney would have to argue that this is different than kotor remake or shutdown both.
Disney can shut down KotOR remake anytime and they didn't approve anything. If they did, please provide a source. edit* Why the disagrees? Show me that Disney approved that KotOR remake project...Oh wait you can't because they didn't.
No. You can shut down any copyright infringement
I can't find any information about where these people are located. So I'm going to assume they're located in Russia. And that means Disney is going to have a difficult time doing anything to them.
They don't have to. They can go after Valve for agreeing to publish the game.
@ShadowWolf712 I doubt Valve actually "agreed" to publish it. The greenlight program allows almost any game through nowadays.
Its still not on Steam, checked the store and greenlight

Wait what ? Some guy made his own version of Battlefront 3 on his own ?
I think it's a remake of Free Radicals version, the one that got cancelled years ago.
It is a small team I am pretty sure.
The fact that this hasn't been shutdown jet baffles me. It's like Disney is waiting for them to finish to hit them with the cease and deceased letter, making all that hard work go to waste.
Now that is badass to read. Lets hope we see something magical happen from this.
Bob Iger is getting his personal Lube ready
Before it is released Disney has no reason to shut it down. When, if ever, it is released (from what I read original Battlefront 3 was shut down because it was never finished - only needed a couple of months more for years...) the letter will come immediately. At time of release it will be interesting to compare with EA/DICE Battlefront. - content - graphics - sound - gameplay I do not think this Battlefront 3 will win any...
These guys doing the 'remake' are obviously dedicated and are remaking Free Radicals version of BF3 (the one that got cancelled). I think they would take content from battlefront 2 for their version just to increase the content and game modes. Whatever happens I am looking forward to the release and downloading asap until the likelihood of Disney forcing the game off Steam.
I believe it will win in the most important aspects... Content and Gameplay, where EA lost in those departments.
Content wise the cancelled game already looks better. Same with gameplay. Sound both are similar. The only thing DIce has on even the 10 year old game is graphical quality. That's not very good. @RegorL Are you kidding? The multiple classes. The multiple teams ranging from CLones to Empire, to Rebels to CIS. There were also native classes like Gungans you can play as. They showcase several levels that allow you to ceamlessly go from the battlefield into space. They showcased a full single player campaign. They showcased multiple heroes. And that's off the top of my head. I can go and look at all the leaked videos of the cancelled game and point out bit by bit what it has OVER EA: Battlefront. Meanwhile in Battlefront you get to play on some cramped maps doing nothing. All Battlefront has for it is graphical quality. But that means shit when your game is terrible.
Content, you have seen very little of FW Battlefront 3 - how can you judge? Compare at time of release (with EA Battlefront free upgrades). FW will need to update content and models to resemble a modern game, doing that will take a lot of time (just taking the models and textures will open another law suite, from Crytek), game modes will be even worse (rewrite from scratch, unless they have access to source code...) Could you explain why you think FW Battlefront 3 has better gameplay - I do not see it. - looking at Frontwires media files (nothing there really, it does not reach Free Radicals BF3) http://galaxyinturmoil.fron... Sound, EA Battlefronts is one of the best in game industry - good luck beating that... http://www.audiogang.org/aw... Graphics, no contest - Battlefront is one of the best looking games this generation. In addition, I would wonder in what way I really pay for this game... free as in a free lunch...??? (or will they run a Kickstarter, that ends when Disney notices the money, "sorry no repays we have invested it all") "At this time, Frontwire Studios is not accepting any monetary donations towards the Galaxy in Turmoil project. Rather than donating your money, we ask that you tell your friends and family about GiT, and share it all over social media. "
Would be amazing if this came to pass
this game will be shotdown people keep on sying no its free but actually disney own the IP like it or not they can easly take it down and even sue valve for supporting them
Valve about to get sued into oblivion if they're actually planning to allow this.
This will get shutdown. Doesn't matter if it's free to not. It's copyright infringement. Just look at all the FREE fan remakes of other games that got shutdown. Disney own the IP, end of story.
