Looks like they might unveil the beastbone at e3 then and the mini-bone

Pancit_Canton3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

Microsoft should a call it a BR = Boner Reality

donthate3313d ago

I like BeastBone better! :)

lelo2play3313d ago

Which is worse, mini-bone or slim-bone?

MasterCornholio3313d ago (Edited 3312d ago )

I thought Scorpio was for the end of next year. So wouldnt an unveiling at e3 be a bit early?

However I definitely believe we will see a slim model at e3.

@Fin

"Mini model...MS is dropping the word slim. "

With how big the original model is they could make a mini version with a bluray drive. Microsofts engineers are not that incompetent after all they did design the technical marvel known as The Surface.

@Dont

"I think MS is trying to pre-empt Sony and steal their thunder while causing FUD with a more powerful console."

Or kill the hype of the system by announcing it to be a lot more expensive than the competition. Which is why I don't believe the Neo will compete with the Scorpion. Instead it will be the PS5 that will. One thing that I don't see Microsoft doing is allowing Sony to launch the PS5 before they launch the Scorpio.

I'm just saying that I personally believe the Scorpio is a next gen Xbox launching before the next gen PS4.

But until its confirmned all we can do is speculate.

EddieNX 3313d ago

Everything is just speculation at this point. If they're unveiling Xbox one VR then you would assume they might unveil the scorpio as well as it would be the only thing that could run VR at a decent level.

We'll see! ;)

donthate3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

I think MS is trying to pre-empt Sony and steal their thunder while causing FUD with a more powerful console. If MS is releasing next year, they can up the specs to compete with Sony. Essentially Sony is forcing MS hand on 6 Tflops console.

Fin_The_Human3313d ago

Mini model...MS is dropping the word slim.

This means no blurey drive ;)

Given that HaloLens took up so much of their conference last year in order to disrupt Sony's PSVR, shouldn't people be upset that they aren't doing anything with that going forward? HL was all the rage after being shown last year to Xbox fans. Seems that's what their fans want, so why not give it to them instead of just trying to disrupt Sony?

donthate3311d ago (Edited 3311d ago )

rain:

Why would we be upset?

It's no different than showing a game that isn't releasing for almost a decade like The Last Guardian. Point being, MS is showing exciting stuff and depending on reception they release stuff. MS always said, they are taking a wait and see approach.

Not sure why you are constantly complaining about MS and stirring up things? Did you get a PS4 and is now attached?

The Mini tron has me hype!!

Think about it...they aren't calling it an XBox Slim so this means that the mini will be one hell of compact console.

100 bucks says that it will not have a Blu Rey drive and will be DL gamed only.

This is fine with since majority of my games are now baught digitally... Just give us a huge HardDrive .

So Xbox One is likely to be getting VR support after all. To me, this category specifically targets Xbox One, and not the rumored Scorpio, because otherwise the category should be titled "Virtual Reality > Xbox". After all, Scorpio is not really an Xbox One if rumors are to be believed. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks, but things are getting interesting to say the least!

BossBattle3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

I guess we'll see

MasterCornholio3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

So what's Scorpio then?

Some sort of living room PC designed to work with OR?

That's the only other thing I can think about.

Plus if the 6TF rumors are true I can imagine it will be quite expensive. I honestly don't see Microsoft producing a traditional console for more than 500$ after what happened with the XB1. But we will see soon enough.

donthate3313d ago

It is rumored to be the next Xbox console. What is the point of releasing a PC? There is no innovation to be had there.

However, an Xbox that can function as a PC and you have the option to get a mouse/keyboard, while retaining console functionality would be awesome. Halo Wars 2 with kb/mouse on Xbox?

F' yeah!

TheCommentator3313d ago

What is Scorpio? More likely a 4k solution for XB1 games than something designed specifically for VR support, but who knows... some people over at Mr. X's site are still hopeful that MS will just flip the Scorpio switch and let the secret sauce flow! They've been saying for years now that the true power of XB1 is 5 to 6tf which does seem a bit coincidental, but could you imagine if MS actually did flip a switch and gave every XB1 owner 4k and VR support??? Anyways, enough of the fantasy stuff, lol.

There are other reasons I feel its an XB1 rather than a Scorpio solution. For example:

If MS announced Scorpio at E3, but doesn't launch it until Spring of next year, that's an entire year of XB1 sitting on shelves while people wait for the upgrade. Couple that with the fact that XB1 now has a category for VR at E3 and it is most logical to conclude that the VR solution is for current Xboxes.

Second, the fact that MS has been working on a cloud based solution to VR processing called Irides for a few years already but doesn't have an official use for the technology yet. People around here consistently brush off Irides, yet if you actually look up how it functions it is very compelling predictive software that could give XB1 what it needs to provide a decent, PSVR quality experience.

Third, Mike Ybarra said late last year to expect 2 to 3 bombshells this year on the scale of the BC announcement. Cloud powered VR would certainly qualify... but then again so would Scorpio.

I know this is all speculative, but there's lots of anecdotal evidence supporting the plausability of VR on XB1.

iTechHeads3313d ago

The current Xbox One? Nope.
A Future more powerful Xbox One? Sure, but they might as well call it the Xbox Two and launch an entirely new platform.

MasterCornholio3313d ago

The Neo seems like a 1.5 system while the Scorpio seems like a next gen system to me.

But here's another thing to think about.

If the Neo is really just a 1.5 system then what's Sony number 2 system going to be?

I mean is it just possible that the Scorpios direct competitor will be the PS5 instead of fhe Neo?

So many questions.....

donthate3313d ago

Cornholio:

The cycles are pretty similar, so typically all we are going to get from now on are mid-cycle, or new cycle. That means, the PS5 (or whatever) will likely release roughly the same time as Xbox Three. MS might even opt to release it at the same time.

ElectricSponge3312d ago

Xbox Scorpio is the next-gen Xbox.

donthate3313d ago

This was predicted a long time ago and obvious. No point in MS investing into VR, when there are plenty of third party companies to do it. After all, MS doesn't make that much money of hardware, and it is hugely risky. Why not just let somebody else benefit from the economies of scale, while MS enjoys the benefits of profits from software sale.

rainslacker3312d ago (Edited 3312d ago )

MS said something along the lines of they'd look at VR when it made sense. Don't remember the exact quote. Could be, given that VR is pretty hyped right now, they feel it makes sense to get in early, instead of waiting till others have a foothold. Not their typical MO, but maybe Spencer talked them into it.

donthate3311d ago

rain:

Plans can and do change depending on who is in charge, or market conditions. Got to be nimble, but it might also be because at the time MS didn't have a console that can run VR and give a good performance. Just look at the PS VR solution: reprojection, 60fps and reduced resolution. That is a patch to make it work.

As VR is moving slower, and technology is moving forward it is now a possibility for MS. I mean, it seemed so obvious that Oculus is their partner considering last year they announced "partnership" then Oculus moves to Windows support only dropping both Apple and Linux, then includes a Xbox controller. To top it off, streaming is included in the Rift.

These types of things don't happen over night, it happens with a lot of time in advance to ensure that if agreement isn't made, MS can switch to HTC or make their own.

Kurisu3313d ago (Edited 3313d ago )

Interesting stuff. I really hope VR for both consoles don't require these upgrades, though. If that does happen to be the case then I won't be jumping in to VR for a while. Still, I'm looking forward to finding out solid details.

KiwiViper853313d ago

Ye I'm done being an early adopter. Not interested in vr in the slightest. But will jump in in 2 years when everything is half price

Kurisu3307d ago

I'm interested in VR but yeah, I'm going to wait it out for a bit. E3 could sway me to jump in sooner though.

DopeTech3313d ago

Xbox One Scorpio will be a BEAST 6TFLOPS GPU!!

EddieNX 3313d ago

looks like 2 xbox ones on top of each other, a super console if you will... haha

DopeTech3313d ago

2 Xbox one? No, It's 4 times XB1

iTechHeads3313d ago

$599
Expect anything less and you'll be disappointed.

Rookie_Monster3313d ago

Day one for the most powerful home console ever.

Sharky2313312d ago

The 6 tflops are an estimate. Could be less or more. Just like 4.2 flops for the neo. Could be less or more.

nX3311d ago (Edited 3311d ago )

An incredibly overblown, completely unrealistic estimate though. Funny how people are falling for it, can't wait to see the reactions when reality hits them.

Bobafret3313d ago

I am still not on board for VR, regardless of platform. Still going to wait it out a year or two.

Damn, I was hoping for an updated patch. Well let’s see if the rumors are still true, that it’s coming to Switch 2. There’s still hope……I hope

OtterX14h ago(Edited 14h ago)

Yea, this gathering actually sounds like a good time to reveal a remaster PS5/XBox + Switch 2 release. It could be both!

Man, I moved from the Tampa area a bit over 10 years ago, would have loved to be there for this regardless. Even if it's just a gathering of the actors. But this Fall/Holiday season does sound like a good time for a remaster.

MajorLazer9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Remaster? It just needs a 4K60 patch, no need to remaster anything. Gta 4 needs a remaster.

dmonee1d ago

Everyone just hold up a minute! 🤔 This could still be possible. Perhaps this cast member was told to hush and draw attention away from a big reveal

jznrpg23h ago

He was probably told to stfu
