Brett from The Game Bolt: "In a report that came out Wednesday from Kotaku, and later corroborated by Polygon, Microsoft is planning to release two new Xbox Ones over the next two years. The first, which is expected to be revealed at or around E3 this year, will be a cheaper and smaller model of the Xbox One that may have 4K support for video content. I have no qualms with this model, as we’ve seen this type of idea before with the PS2 Slim, Xbox 360 Elite, PS3 Slim and so on and so forth."

This is really stupid and just baffling, the explanation for it is also a big non answer, very disappointing.
Square Enix has really gone down the drain. Even FF7: Rebirth, while being an incredible acheivment seemed very sloppy in some areas... namely performance. These folks wonder why their games don't sell but aren't putting in a decent effort.
They seem to be suggesting that people didn't like the new stuff in WotL, hence it's non-inclusion, but they're probably secretly planning to add it as DLC down the line, they just don't want to tell people that because they think it'll get an even worse reaction. When they do eventually add it, they'll be like, "We listened". Of course, it won't be free though, so they'll still get flak for it. On the other hand, maybe I'm too cynical.
Depends on how they're implemented and how they treat the gamers still gaming on the base models.
So is upgrading TV's, mobiles, technology in general. No evolution without revolution and both Sony and Microsoft are about to revolt.
The whole article collapses in the first paragrapgh when the author stated his request of a console upgrade every 5 years as being acceptable.
The Scorpio is touted as a late 2017 release. FOUR years after the xbox one was released.
In essence, the author is arguing over 1 measly year's worth of time period.
Unfortunately MS have had no choice but to bring a more powerful model out after the PS4.5 was announced.
Personally I think both consoles should have stuck with the current models or just brought a slim out that run games the same.
Going to be an expensive time for those of us who own both consoles as the temptation to buy the upgraded models will be strong especially when games that take advantage of the extra power are released.
So many of these articles talking about people feeling left out because someone else has a better version then them or feeling pressured to upgrade. But these are feeling not felt by the majority of consumers and this is backed up by sales figures. Everyone buys a new console when they're ready to regardless of the cycle duration. If everyone or even the majority of people felt they had to upgrade ASAP then the consoles would be supply constrained for their first year on the market but they're not.
Sony and MS are looking at the bigger picture and in today's climate a shorter cycle with smaller increases in power while having forward and backwards compatibility make sense to them. Of course analysts can get it wrong and maybe 4 years from now they be admitting the mistake or they'll be release the next set of new systems
