It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly two weeks since we officially released Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on PS4. It’s one of the most beautifully crafted games I’ve ever played, and the great reception we’ve seen from the community has been amazing and humbling. Naughty Dog’s exceptionally talented team has created magic once again, carefully constructing an adrenaline-pumping, thrilling, and beautifully written culmination to Nathan Drake’s adventures. Check Uncharted 3's release date and you'll know why Sony shipped that many copies. November is a way waaaayyy bigger month than May, so Sony shipped 3.8 million in anticipation of the holiday season. The fact that Uncharted 4 sold-through 2.7 million in just one week during a slow month is a great achievement in itself.

First we got R&C which despite all the concern doom and gloom articles sold fantastic and now UC4 surpassing every exclusive sales in two weeks this gen. And VC remastered had a great first week as well. When are people going to realize, PS GAMERS SUPPORT THEIR FIRST PARTY EXCLUSIVES. U.K. Sales chart you'll still see R&C in or near top ten, even UC collection is there in top 40

VC is technically 3rd party.:) Awesome game though. Was one of my favs last gen, and loving playing through it again.:) Went so overlooked last gen by many, but was really a unique and original title...it's still unique, because outside it's sequels, there isn't anything else like it.

But yeah, I was really happy with R&C, reminded me why I love Insomniac so much after Fuse and some lackluster R&C releases and SSOD kind of made me forget.

UC4 was just a whole other level though. The trailers and videos and screen shots just don't prepare you for the experience.

Yep, and a variety of games selling well only bodes well for the future, because publishers can see that there is markets for various kinds of games. Dunno why they forgot that last gen, and didn't bother to market the more unique stuff and instead focused on the homogenized AAA stuff, which while sometimes good, shouldn't be all there is to gaming. All these different kinds of games doing well only raises the expectation that this gen could be another golden age, and these last couple months feels like the old PS2 days....sans the copious JRPG's which are starting to come out later in the year.

I think the magazine in their second house which had her on the cover kind of shows that she's already into adventuring and archaeology, and she already seems to know her history.

If we're lucky, she'll have a better and more interesting personality than the new Lara....although it's kind of hard to imagine that kid growing up to be like Nathan going around shooting up mobs of henchmen.

I am loving the game. It is good to see it doing well, but the fanboys or haters are hilarious who are bringing up Halo 5. 2.7 million is pretty impressive by any standard. Some games can do more in their first week, but it's pretty rare. Any game that can sell that much in it's first week has done something right.

To put it in perspective, for a game with a $100 million dollar budget, 2.7 million means Sony itself has probably pulled in around $108 million dollars. Total revenues, for all parties involved are around $160 million. In the first week Sony made their money back plus some, which keeps investors happy. Moving forward, almost all revenue from the game will be profit, as development/marketing costs have been recouped. That keeps investors even happier.

And you are right, that is great news for more console exclusives getting funded, because it shows that Sony can produce games that make high caliber games which make money, which is something not all AAA games manage to do, which is why we see so much reliance from publishers on their popular titles, because often times, the investors don't want to invest $100 million for a game, or into a company that can't deliver a return.

I see some people are saying the install base differences makes Halo 5's sales more impressive.

Far be it from me to detract from Halo 5's commercial success. It's been pretty lucrative for Microsoft. But you need to keep in mind that die hard Halo fans are the ones who have cashed in on the game already. So we likely won't see anymore sales spikes for it. Uncharted on the other hand launched weeks before Overwatch and is apparently still doing well. Assuming the hype does down for Overwatch, sales for Uncharted 4 could go back up. And, of course, word of mouth advertising. That likely worked against Halo since people probably heard it's great to have if you own an Xbox One but not worth getting one for (I suspect that's what Gears 4 is for). Uncharted 4 however, though not necessary to sell more consoles, it could be heavily recommended among friends with PlayStation 4. This is, after all, the studio behind The Last of Us, and that could be all people need to hear.

Moving past my pure speculation, those are very respectable sales. Naughty Dog really deserves the praise. The game is fantastic. I'd love to know what their budget was and if they turned a profit already.

Last of us had an opening week of 1.3 million sold (and sold 3.4 million for its first three weeks)
By August 2014 it sold 7 million (Only considering just the PS3 version)..It is definitely more by now

Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 2 had an opening week of 1.1 million and 1 million respectively, and they both sold about 7 million copies each (in addition to digital sales)

Considering this and the sales of other Naughty Dog games...

Uncharted 4 will sell about 15 million by Fall 2017

There is no need for spin. Uncharted is a great game on the top selling console and will be the best selling exclusive game on any console yet. I dont know if it would do 10 million or even 6 million but i really dont carel It will however outsell every other xbox exclusive so far or coming this year. The install base is a big factor but more crucially uncharted is just a great franchise that perhaps not everybody loves but more than enough do to make the game worthwhile.

Well hey im a PS and PC guy and i think uncharted is mechanically cheap, mediocore and utterly horrid in combat. I think its only saving grace is its graphics and story. I also think its extremely moronic to waste your resources on having a lemur steal your apple to get an achievement, especially since thats money better spent on oh i dont know....GAMEPLAY!?!? enemy design and variety?! I have never seen a worse game in enemy design and variety than uncharted.

Amazing sales for an amazing experience. Halo 5 sales were nice but this shatters that amount by far. Amazing some people trying to downplay this game and its success and then have the nerve to try and say Halo 5 was more successful...lmfao. Great job ND and Sony.

So no uc4 didn't come close. Halo made the top 10 best selling of 2015 but if you remove digital it doesn't. Only shows you how much digital has grown. But yes it shattered halos physical sales but not with digital counted.
