The first and most important giveaway that this is fake is the picture is a pic from Titanfall... if this date was real it would have a pic from Titanfall 2.... not a pic from the first game... Complete fail... but nice try.

There goes the "totally different games," argument. "Shooters," in general still share the same market and fight over more or less the same playerbase. People invested in any one shooter are just as many people not invested in another.

People that play Battlefield don't JUST play Battlefield, same can be said for any other shooter. There's too many. Point being, out of 5 shooters this holiday season, many will just choose two.

Besides, you don't want empty TF2 servers due to a playerbase stretch, as was the problem with the first game.

If they released it in its own window, all players of every game coming out this year can be in one place once the buzz has worn off.

You want a lively community for TF2.

Just an FYI the retailer is very much real and used a lot in the MENA region. They get all their games from official suppliers that deal directly with publishers. I would treat this as a very serious rumor.

According to wikipedia the game's been in planning since June 2014 and development was meant to be underway by March 2015, this is sourced.
On the Titanfall 1 wikipedia page it states that game was developed by 65 people, Respawn has 140 people working there now, but they're also developing a third person Star Wars game, so resources are split between 2 projects.
It's possible initial planning could have finished by August and development began then, but that would be rushing things to only allow 23 months for this to go gold.
With Battlefield 1 and COD: IW coming this Fall this could be cutting it a little close.

I think it would make more sense for Titanfall 2 to come some time in 2017, maybe in Spring like the first game so that Respawn has plenty of time to polish.
With the next game releasing on another platform and Respawn requiring extra time to get more familiar with PS4's API that could delay things for a small AAA team to make a project like this.
Hopefully we'll find out at E3. August 2016 seems like a bit too soon for this to be release ready too me.

i could be wrong but i just don't see EA releasing 2 of it's biggest games around the same time. TF 2 will either come out soon as in july or august or will come early next year. BF1 and TF2 in same launch window don't make much sense since bot games will be competing against call of duty among other games

As for the release date, Titanfall 2 will be in Q3 FY2017, which is October - December 2016. So yeah, the release date could be somewhat on the mark, but the artwork was used for Titanfall 1.

Meplay! Is a very popular Middle East equivalent of Gamestop, they obviously aren't gonna get promotional material before the game is even announced, which is probably why they're using an old image.

There are very high chances that this is correct, because they do get details ahead of time similar to other retailers like Amazon & Gamestop, but will this be the final release date, seems unlikely.

I live in the middle east and got this email yesterday. The company that sent me the email is a video game company operating in the middle east, I dont think its fake because theyre not that smart to fake it, or theyre too small to risk being blocked from selling the game maybe? Same thing happened with a rival company in the region with dark souls 3 and it turned out to be true.
