Destiny: the Rise of Morning Iron

Still waiting for a 100% complete version of Destiny before I buy it :3

InTheZoneAC2682d ago

then you will have missed out on 90% of the game. You will have missed the Vault of Glass, since no one plays it, you will have missed out on The Dark Below and the King's Fall raids because everyone will be onto the new one. You will have missed all the daily events that were only available before each expansion. You will have missed the great Gjallarhorn, Suros Regime, Thorn, Last Word, Hawkmoon, and every fusion rifle since those are now irrelevant or nerfed to hell(get used to this, and another reason why I don't play at all anymore)

You waiting for the last expansion/update is just a mistake because you won't have enjoyed the game as much as possible.

Yui_Suzumiya2682d ago

I'm just buying to play through the entire story which won't be completely completed until all final DLC is released. I loved the beta.

ChuckTheIceMan2682d ago

You are right to wait. The first year was utter garbage for content. If it wasn't for the awesome gunplay and the coop nature of the game I wouldn't have played it at all. Then the taken King garbage.... They haven't made a new character model since vanilla destiny. They just keep reskinning current assets. This is just plain lazy and garbage IMO. Destiny is dead to me and so is bungie.

CorndogBurglar2682d ago

Hahahahahahahahaha.

You said you wanted to play Destiny for the story......

I'm a big Destiny fan but the story isn't told in the actual game, buddy. But thats cute to think so.

InTheZoneAC2682d ago

they expect us to wait an entire year for this legit expansion then they're going to do the same again after this releases waiting for Destiny 2. The problem with this is that about 3-4 months into the expansion, we're out of content and they expect us to do the same repetitive grind for another 8-9 months before the next expansion.

This isn't socom, where it's simply addicting perfection and you can go to war for consecutive hours daily. This game needs new content every so often, not once or twice a year...

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter117d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell116d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast117d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g117d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka117d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

Reddrover21u117d ago

It's really just another sign that people who spend their time talking about or complaining about games on the internet are a very, very, small, minority of actual gamers.

People wonder why Sony is trying to bring some multiplayer games under their umbrella? Because done well, those games make money hand over hand.

Gamers love to say vote with your wallet and the masses have voted saying their okay with micro transactions for years now.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it
