'Xbox 720' could be the hottest gift for Christmas 2011
Powering up the Xbox: what's in store for the next-gen console?
Will Microsoft launch its next-gen Xbox in 2011? There have been a couple of articles recently that have speculated on just that.
TechRadar looks at whether the 'Xbox 720' will feature a return to Intel chips, the inclusion of a Blu-ray drive, and more storage than you can ever fill.
A PlayStation 4 and potential 'Xbox 720' could arrive as early as 2011, estimates Crytek president and CEO Cevat Yerli. Industry analyst Colin Sebastian agrees, suggesting that "the general consensus amongst industry professionals is that a new generation of home consoles will arrive on the market in 2011 or 2012."
This could be fun as they make great tables. Go big or go extinct. Prime your senses for a neural handshake and step into the cockpit of a Jaeger. It is on you to cancel the apocalypse when Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX on May 16.
Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.
Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.
Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.
"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."
That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.
As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.
And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.
They buy IPs not talent. That's why these buyouts never work and the IPs die. Right now it's too expensive to develop games - but I expect that to shift maybe as AI tools can make it easier. The best games have been indie games for awhile as big developers fuck their ips to death with "games as a service" -
It will come out a year or so before the PS4
It will RRoD on every Sucka that Buys it !!!
The PS3 will kick its Ass Never mind The PS4
And with in 2 years it will be just like the 360 an outdated pile of Garbage
And Just like the 360 is having its outdated Ass Kicked into Last Gen
The PS4 will show the 720 what Next Gen is all about AGAIN !!!!!
A year or so Head Start will not help the 720 stop the Juggernaut that will be the PS4
And the Good thing is if it was the PS4 that had a year or so Head Start
The 720 would not see it's Ass for Dusts
It wont be Capable of Catching and Surpassing like the PS3 has Done with the 360
Poor BoTs
Doomed to a Life of Mediocrity
Never mind
You got Great games like
Too Humongous

As i just Said
Doomed to a Life of Mediocrity

Sony will not release ps4 until 2012 at least. 720 will be competing with ps3 then ps4 will release with newer tech again and rerinse and repeat.
im not buying either console on release day unless there are some good games available.
2012 for a new console for me is too soon..
the ps2 is still pushing strong...
the xbox could probably still put out some hits if it were still active...
with that said
imagine how much longer the ps3 could last.....
if you leave it up to microsoft they would release a new xbox every year
The next question isn't necessarily 'what will the next Xbox look like?' but 'will there even be one?'
this quote applies to sony as well. i'm really pleased with the ps3. i can always upgrade my HDD. and, as devs get more familiar with the system - any development issues should be much less of a problem. also, the hi-def movie playback is a useful feature as well.
with the 360, the 2 biggest issues are dvd9 and rrod. if ms could make the current hardware more reliable and do something about the limitations of dvd9....then their hardware could be pretty solid for quite a while.
i seem to be in the minority; but, i think the ps3 (in its current state)could be around for a lot longer than 5-6 years.
