I'm haven't given up on Agent yet

poppinslops3308d ago (Edited 3308d ago )

You probably should - the last bit of info on Agent came from one of Rockstar's environmental artists, who was taken off the game in 2009 to work on GTAV... his work was solid (he released a bunch of concept images), but he never went back to work on Agent and has since left R*.

Yes, they're holding onto the name, but who wouldn't? It's a good name for a game - one they might eventually decide to make - but the odds of their next game being anything other than Red Dead 3 are very, very low... that leaked map ('authenticated' by Shinobi602) was the clincher, plus Take-Two have all but confirmed it.

freshslicepizza3308d ago

they would also have great success if they could put ps3 games on it too. does playstation now have rockstar games?

gangsta_red3309d ago

Good to see that the classics are still being played.

poppinslops3308d ago

I think the only way a game (or any work of art) can be defined as a 'classic' is by transcending it's 'life-cycle' and being enjoyed for years after it's release - which is why I can't for the life of me understand why anyone wouldn't want backwards compatibility... at the very least this report shows all these "backwards compatibility is worthless - no one uses it" types how ridiculous they sound.

Kyosuke_Sanada3308d ago (Edited 3308d ago )

Wholeheartedly agree but it's a case of sour grapes in my opinion. I remember years ago on n4g during the Dual Shock debacle how people agreed with Sony's hollow words of controller vibration being unneeded so I am not surprised of the yes man reaction to this issue as well.
I don't want to want to repeat myself on why I think backwards compatibility is a great add-on especially during the early years of a new console but a lot of modern gamers disagree on the notion of some games being timeless.

Angeljuice3308d ago

Accept your perception of what makes a classic isn't shared by everyone and figures show that a tiny percentage of people with backwards compatibility on their system actually use it regularly.

So no, they don't sound ridiculous at all.
No figures have been released so any success is relative (the highest selling title could have 50k sales for all you know).

poppinslops3308d ago

Amazon just reported sales for CoD:Blops increased by 13000% - it's number 2 on their charts... UK stores are reporting the game is now effectively 'sold out'.

80000 players online, and noone's using it?

" "backwards compatibility is worthless - no one uses it" types how ridiculous they sound."

I would say its a little bit of both.
Being its not being seen by a number of gamers as a useless feature , but at the same time it does show its not as big of an importance as many are trying to make it be as a lever in console wars.

What it shows is people are willing to buy older games on a newer console again. Yes backwards compatible console saved the consumer money..but all last generation the Xbox360 had very few BC with original Xbox games and many gamers stated..I bought my xbox360 to play new game's.

While many made fun of PS3 Users stating we had backward compability.. But again many stated ..what.you have backwards compability..? Those...games that I can play already on my PC with Emulation!

Now it's being made out to be this big thing because Xbox one has it but PS4 does not..its ironic that while the xbox360 was easy to code for and PS3 was such a pain in the @ss..now backward compatibility is being made out to be the "Must have" function when Sony had backwards compatible system even up to the PS3 and it was counted by many as not that big of a deal or meh..

Or downplayed because I can just Emulate that game on my PC!
Gamers throwing it up in the face of playstation gamers face now..

well that is good call for those to have that attitude but let's see how this plays out in the future when game consoles evolve further.

I'm going to bet its not really going to matter all that much like it really has not have that big of a deal already as is.

I thought Xbox owners were only playing Black ops because they had no new games to play /s

Many games of Rockstar are avaliable already, but please, don't forget about Manhunt 2, Max Payne 2, Red Dead Revolver and The Warriors.

wars19863308d ago

Manhunt 2 with censors is horrible, ruins the game. I still have my CFW psp with the uncensored version on it.

Silly gameAr3308d ago

I still have my PS2 version of the game.

P_Bomb3308d ago

Picked up Bully and Max Payne from their set. May get Manhunt during a lull. Good fun, especially since cheats don't disable trophies. There's something liberating about that.

LucasRuinedChildhood3308d ago

Definitely! Games really need to stop disabling trophies when using cheats, or come up with a new solution. It always persuades me in a lot of games to not even use them, which is terrible. It's not like these GTA games are easier than other games in terms of trophies either.

CorndogBurglar3308d ago

Lol what?

Trophies are meant to be earned by completing specific accomplishments. Why shouldn't they be disabled if you used cheats to get it?

Thats the equivalent of saying its okay to go to a test in college with answers, or even your notes hidden in your sleeve. You really aren't earning the trophy as intended if you use cheats to make it easier.

LucasRuinedChildhood3308d ago (Edited 3308d ago )

@CorndogBurglar

I understand what you are saying. Hmm. Maybe I need to explain this a different way. Basically, I feel like trophies (or at least some) should be created with cheats in mind. Trophies shouldn't always make the player feel that they shouldn't be using cheats. Whenever you activate cheats in modern games, they give you a stern warning, deactivate trophies, turn off autosave, and just kind of make them feel like a hassle to use. "Can't get any trophies - lets not use them to be safe."

As I was saying, maybe they need to come up with some solutions for this. Example, a trophy for activating a cheat and achieving a heightened challenge based around that cheat. For example, you've activated Explosive bullets - blow up 50 cars in a minute. This challenge would be borderline-impossible usually, but it would be a nice reasonable challenge with the cheat enabled. Trophies shouldn't clash with cheats as much as they do.

P_Bomb3308d ago (Edited 3308d ago )

@corndogburglar
Who says the cheats have to be tied to the trophies? Spawning a rhino has nothing to do with finding all the collectibles. Having a money cheat to buy all the vanity items like clothing has no bearing on finishing difficulty x,y or z.

These rockstar ps2-ers are dinosaur games that I've already owned and finished multiple times anyways. Big part of the appeal for me has been replaying these games without trophies getting in the way and disabling things I used to enjoy doing.

It's kinda liberating to just have fun again and knock off a stress free 100% without grinding your way through 33hrs of Minecraft survival mode only to have the developer accidentally glitch the trophy out with a patch. Which they did. Digital copy here, stuck at 98%. Thx mojang

RosweeSon3308d ago

Still great games even now. Bought GTA3 for its soundtrack alone the fact the game is epic is a bonus.

PSN_ZeroOnyx3308d ago

Vice City had the all-time ultimate game sound track hands down.

RosweeSon3308d ago

Yeah I've got that to come but I loved the tunes on GTA3 Gaaaame classics... I'm the King produced by Alchemist. I'm a ride til I can't ride no more ;)

Vice city is great as well tho can't beat a bit of Jacko when you get on your first moped.

Oschino19073308d ago (Edited 3308d ago )

I would argue the game in my avatar Interstate 76 had the best video game soundtrack ever. It was composed by the founding member of Third Eye Blind and featured many other accomplished musicians. Also the music was all original.
http://interstate76.wikia.c...

My runner up would be Streets of Rage series also with all original and at the time groundbreaking music.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/...

Although I will say I do very much enjoy every GTA soundtrack from the original to V.

@Roweeson, referring to arguably the greatest musical performer of all time as "Jacko" shows you have little to no respect for him and honestly you aren't worthy of listening to his greatness.

XanderZane3308d ago

I had the bonus soundtrack that game with the collector edition. It's a large box with a 5 pack CD. It looks like this. Mine was still sealed as well. This it may be in storage.
