PSLS: "More and more single player games are getting tacked on multiplayer modes, but that isn't always a bad thing. Here's 10 games that managed to pull it off."
I would replace MGS5's multiplayer with MGS4's
Mass Effect 3 MP was good, for me at least. I hope they improve on it in the next ME.
Spent countless hours playing Mass Effect 3, best Co Op multiplayer I've ever played. Also all the DLC was free! Hope they don't ditch it for the sequel.
Agreed. I put hours upon hours into the ME3 coop PvE, on both consoles! All the free map and character updates kept me coming back. Loved it, unexpectedly so. Loot became addicting.
I dont think games where their predecessors also had multiplayer could be considered tacked on ie assassins creed 4 and uncharted 4. I agree with the main point though, TLOU multi was a gem
Agree on that count too. I initially dreaded the MP grinding needed for TLOU platinum but in the end, I had lots of great matches and moments. It's probably my fave naughty dog mp to date I dreaded the MP grind for the Bioshock2 platinum as well, but same thing happened there. I was pretty good at it and had lots of fun in the process. Another happy accident
While Doom's multiplayer does feel tacked on to me, I think in its current state it "CAN BE good". While the gameplay is fun, Im personally not the biggest fan of the maps. If they can expand that variety, or maybe somehow cross Snapmap and MP a little more - I think that will be a big step forward.
GTA V's multiplayer was not tacked on. Just look at how big it is and how much money R* put into developing and running GTA Online. Far from tacked on especially since both GTA 4 & RDR released with multiplayer too.
Go back before destiny, the division, EA's Battlefront, Evolve or even titan fall and you'll see what a joke, content wise, these online only multiplayer titles are, their tact on online only rentals sold with the options of a dlc package scheme (season pass), theirs a simple reason why singleplayer games are woth $60 and multiplayer only games are not, effort, effort in story, voice acting, AI programming(bots)/NPC, pacing, difficulty balancing, etc, their selling people F2P games with a dolled up presentation, then have the audacity to charge people another $40-$50 on top of that, best way to do multiplayer is to integrate your dev tools/assets of your singleplayer portion of the game into the added MP experience, nothing has to be "tacked on" anyways, both SP and MP can have equal effort put in by devs.
