Uncharted 4’s multiplayer, does it suck?

I agree, the single player is fantastic, but the multiplayer is severely lacking. I also really don't like the "mystic" powerups as I feel they get in the way of what could be an awesome cinematic multiplayer shooter experience

Lacking is definitely the right word to summarize the multiplayer component. Where are the co-op story missions? Where is the co-op arena mode? Where are all the multiplayer modes? They've really scaled-back the amount of content and variety compared to the last couple of games which is really disappointing. While the map design is also mostly of a high quality as well, the game really would have benefited from launching with an extra couple of maps as well. The whole multiplayer component is just barebones in general, which is surprising considering the delays that the game had.

The multiplayer is fun and great. I haven't played much because I want to finish the story. Pretty much I put insane hrs into the beta, and this new build is better. I would put a lot in ranked matches to play with people of my level

"Lacking" like you say, it doesn't mean it is bad. It has enough to be entertaining. Some said the same thing about Titanfall, and yet I was addicted to it like nothing else.

So what if they're pushing out some kind of co-op DLC at the end of the year, that's a long way from where we are right now. Compared to past modes available, yes it's lacking there. Yes we know it's coming as free dlc, but at the current state it's lacking them. That's like saying battlefront isn't lacking because it has planned content.

Everything else content wise is great, though the grinding for anything cosmetic wise is rough.

I don't think it's sucks at all, I feel that as a fan of the uncharted series, the mp for all of them have a huge identity crisis. Each iteration mp is so different from the last it's hard to say if it's good when you can't really compare each of them as much as you'd hope. I still think uc2 had the best mp, and I feEl uc3 was okay, but uc4 mp is clearly taking bits from the last of us, and then some from 3 and 2 and throwing them together.

Here's hoping they add classic uncharted 2 mode that gets rid of all these purchasable

Honestly UC shouldn't even have a Multiplayer. By having (slightly lacking) Multiplayer it seems odd this would not have affected review wording but not necessarily the score. There needs to be two separate sets of reviews for a game being both Single-player and Multiplayer.

I tried playing multi in Uncharted 2 and didn't enjoy it at all.. though I was also particular bad at Gears of War multiplayer so maybe 3rd person cover shooters aren't my style. Awkward addition? Maybe for you but Uncharted has the best tps mp out there imo since UC2. I dont buy Uncharted just for the sp but also for the mp. You can get on to UC2 mp right now and still find a solid faithful community. As a matter if fact when UC2 was reviewed and received all those 10's many reviewers mentioned the fun, solid mp as a big reason.

Please we all have opinions and yes maybe your not good at it but dont say an "awkward addition" as the masses have weighed in and the consensus is Uc series has a great mp. UC4 mp is awesome!!!! One of the best out there.

Jesus Christ man it's like if you criticize this game it means you hate everything about it. Regardless of disappointing multiplayer it's still a 9/10 or 10/10 game.

The Mystics, Sidekicks and loadouts along with weapon mods for each of them, recharging grenades and mines etc, paid one off stuff just make the game chaotic and you hardly use cover. It becomes who see's who first.

Then there is the lacking content in the BASE game. Nobody give me that free "more is coming" excuse. I'm judging it at what I was given regarding the delays and the like.

4 Modes. No Classic and no co-op at launch. Oh and there is no XP or levelling up. Yeah no rank system.

The characters are lacking. 20 and missing so many characters from past Uncharted games to even ones in this game. Taken from the official ND forums talking about missing characters from the base games, not expansions.

Agreed, people need to understand we aren't hating the game. In fact we love it, but the multiplayer side to it is just a different story. It's not something to bring the score down at all, because at the end of the day it's still a 9 out 10 game, it's just the mp isn't up to par to what it should be.

You are also forgetting that many of those characters in previous games were absent at release, just like some are missing here as well. Also, ND said they would be releasing new characters FOR FREE, yet you complaing like if there will be none ever.

No. It's absolutely fantastic. Weapon feedback, movement/seamless animations, sound and graphics are all great. Animations are beyond anything in the third person multiplayer space.

I can safely say that UC4 multiplayer is the absolute best in the third person shooter market.

Don't be rediculous. Uncharted 2 multiplayer has aged; the two are not even comparable. This is coming from someone who played the fudge out of UC2 multiplayer and absolutely loved it.

If you don't like mysticals than don't use them. If you can't go up against mysticals and human players then get good. That said, there's no cure for shi* players.

I do think the game needed something new, mysticals are fun to use and takedown. Keeping it plain is not the way forward, in my opinion. Going plain or simple doesn't equate to skillful play. Cheap tactics can be a thing in any mode, mysticals or not.

Uncharted 2 has not aged, it's just been left to die after the 1.5 update didn't get fixed. Now you have a new generation of consoles, nobody can go back it's why they should have brought a mode similar to it forward on this gen.

It's funny that you say I lack reading Comp. When if you read my reply I didn't even say you said that, I said the excuse of people not liking the mp doesn't make them a shit player, like what you are pretty much implying with all your comments about people with any kind of negativity about the mp.

And like I said, the best tps is all opinionated. I personally prefer the survival aspect of the last of us mp over uncharted. It also uses the very same currency system that naughty dog decided to add in uC4 a whole lot better because the gameplay is actually built around it.

Other people will like other tps more. It's like saying cod is the best fps, to some it is, to others they like battlefield, or something else.

The fact that developers have abandoned that mode is proof that it is archaic design. Giving players options to create their playstile is also pretty competitive. It's my style and fav weapon VS yours.

I agree with Genuine! The MP needed something new instead of going simple like U2. That doesn't mean skills. Skills is not running toward a certain point to pick weapons... It can be frustrating because you go down like a rock sinking in water sometimes.. but that's usually if you aren't playing smart..

it's different a little then UC2 or UC3 MP and feels more like TLOU MP to me personally... however the TLOU MP is more slow like a stalker/prey or cat/mouse type of pace whereas Uncharted 4 for the most part is all out chaotic.

I don't think the multiplayer sucks but the people on it do. I'm not the type to usually brag about my skills but God do most of the players I get paired up with make me feel like a top rank player. The amount of times where I have to carry the team just to lose is extremely annoying. ND needs to separate the people in a party with people that aren't in one because the matches are disastrous when going up against a party.

Objectively speaking, it's really mediocre, generic and bare bones, also lags due to the P2P servers. This is the definition of a tacked on MP component and it'll be dead in a few weeks especially with Doom and later Overwatch coming out.

Also ND has no creativity when it comes to MP, they just have the same generic modes and 300 different variants of death match, it's the epitome of laziness and cutting corners.

Naughty Dog can craft a real stellar SP experience, but ultimately they're average to below average in terms of how good their MP components are.

Lags due to p2p lol hyperbole at its best. Ive played about 20 matches and i saw no noticeable lag, as a matter of fact plenty of ppl are streaming and the lag isnt how you are projecting it. By the way just because something is dedicated doesnt mean it doesn't lag either.

By the way you have many such as myself who think UC mp is the best tps mp out there since UC2. Uc4 mp is awesome from levels, to animations, to cover system, to banter, to controls, to audio not many are doing it like that.

That's why they could never hold more than a few hundred people. In fact GTAV had 3500 people on the PS3 playing it, more than UC2/3/TLOU combined

Tacked on generic MP will only be fun for a few days or weeks before people get sick of it, and with games like Doom and Overwatch coming out, poor UC4 will be lucky to retain 1000 people by June.

BTW I saw the free DLC Road map and that's the saddest list of free DLC I've ever seen, with most of it being free vanity items, skins, weapons, nothing substantial. Naughty Dog should of looked at how Popcap Games and 343 do free DLC, because judging from that map, ND is an embarrassment.

This mp imo is the best tps mp out as UC2 was my best mp back then. It makes mps from games like FarCry and Tomb Raider (when it had one), Max Payne 3, look and play like crap.

Yes some of the other modes from past sequels arent here at release but its still a competent mp experience. Ohhhhh and ive suffered no discinnects, server issues or noticeable lag :)

By the way mysticals are not op, nor do they take away from the game. They actually add a different and fun dynamic to it.

I personally don't want to invest my time into uncharted multiplayer....its passable but doesn't have anything on the big hitters like COD, Halo and Battlefield, where investing your time is worthwhile.

A co op horde mode or time attack mode would have been much more appreciated. Something where they tap into the what makes uncharted great. Tomb Raider made the right decision to ditch multiplayer and go for a the puzzled based challenges.

The main reason I didn't buy U4 is because a large portion of development and game time is meant to be spent on the online features. Not only is the MP the weakest, but unfortunately so is the SP... SP is all style and no substance, definitely less fun than the other series entries and the MP is the most casual...

All and all pretty bummed about this entry... I would have loved if they made the MP more like UC2 or more arena based without all these powers and such. Oh well.

I played the beta (and just got the game today and Doom ). The mp is fun, but I don't care for the sidekicks and powers. Also I hate loadouts and not having weapons on map.

I'm enjoying the multiplayer. It's far superior than the one we had in 3. All it needs now is that escalation mode where you and some co-op partners fight waves of enemies and those co-operative missions like in 2. Hopefully they'll add them in future DLC.

Maps are too small with very little tactical options, just run round in circles, mysticals tend to be OP at times. Just nother MP that decided to go all COD.

I enjoy the single player and multiplayer really. The MP mode is a lot of fun for sure. And @Foxtrot, if they stayed the same, people would complain a lot. Change too much and people complain again. And don't you dare say : " oh, i prefer they stay same gameplay UC 2 mp" . UC 4 MP is hyprid third person shooter which i like the most. I know they will bring back the classic mode but it gotta be awhile. Foxtrot, you stuck way too much old school style. I'm much more hyprid gamer type. I love old and new. And i will buy new DOOM for sure. You have your opinion for sure but force people do as you please. That's just wrong. There must be balanced.

Saying that it sucks is a strong statement. It's well made. However it's not my cup of tea and not the reason why I got Uncharted. I will play the MP to get the trophies out of it but after that I won't be playing it again.

In my opinion something like a horde mode or co-op would have been a lot better. But that is just me.

Don't know why everyone's so stuck on uc2, that was the one I had the least fun with. Uc4 is the best multiplyer out of the uncharted so far from my opinion.

Yes, it does suck, it sucks badly. It is a mediocre and generic MP component that does nothing unique or even above average, the free DLC is a complete joke compared to others who do free DLC. Naughty Dog is, at best, average when it comes to MP in their games.

This MP will be a barren wasteland by June, less than 1000 people consistently on, especially with Overwatch and Doom out.

I'll admit the melee system is flawed, but besides that it is fun. I would really like to see a Classic mode that plays more like the Uncharted 2 multiplayer, without mysticals and minions and with more quick, brutal stealth melee takedowns. That would be gold.
