Overwatch Thoughts: “Are You With Us Outside Of A Beta?”

Tim from PN2 shares his thoughts on the recently completed Beta phase for Blizzard's 'Overwatch', and whether he's sold on the experience ahead of its release later this month.

"Overwatch isn’t normally the kind of game that I would choose to play, but after hearing about it from a friend, I decided to jump into the open Beta over the past weekend to find out for myself. W…"

Meh, seemed like a free to play game to me. Graphically it's lackluster, better have a shit ton of content to justify $60.

Depends on what version you're talking about. Consoles is $60 and PC is $40 the least expensive version.

It's funny that we value "content" so much more than actually having fun. If you have a fun game that you can spend hours on, who cares if you're doing the same thing over and over again as long as you're enjoying it.

Only reason I might not get it is that I'm tired of using analog sticks for shooters. I want some motion controls, with maybe a gun accessory.

Well no one is ever discounting fun. Usually content compliments the fun, the fun will run out if there's not enough content to have the fun in, everyone draws the line somewhere. You can have tons of fun playing angry birds, but you would probably draw the line if you had to pay $60 for it.

I did not have that much fun playing it, but even if I did I would make the same comment if I felt the price wasn't justified. I mean criticizing doesn't reduce the fun I have personally, but it upholds the principle or companies will take advantage.

I never preorder games but the beta convinced me, haven't had that much fun in a while.

I played the beta on PS4 and initially loved it to the point where I pre-ordered it... But then a few days ago Uncharted 4 dropped and made me do some thinking, plus I learned that Overwatch is $40 on PC and $60 on consoles with the main difference being some skins and what not.

I've been hooked by UC4 MP and I have No Man's Sky coming in June so I decided to cancel Overwatch for right now... I'll keep an eye on it that's for sure but I'm just getting too carried away buying stuff so I'll pass.

Beta was a blast. Love Blizzard games, so this one might as well take my $$ too. Too many good games out there, I need to be back in High School and have time for all these games!
