This what a true exclusive should look like.

Army_of_Darkness3276d ago

If it was a ubisoft game, it would be the other way around lol!

Unspoken3276d ago

Huge downgrade in lighting and shadows and the blind loyalists are claiming it's an upgrade. So sad.

TwoForce3276d ago

@Unspoken and @shloobmm3 Oh really ? Do you two play it ? Who sad now, idiot ?

Bathyj3276d ago

@Unspoken
Whats sad is that you dont follow your namesake.

You dont have to worry about Uncharted, you probably wont be playing it. I played it last night and I can confirm the game is gorgeous.

If you dont believe me, believe Digital Foundry. Best looking console game ever, by a margin. Not a little bit. And we have to put Console in there so PC elitists dont get all upset. Console or not, artistically this game ranks right up there with any game. Power is not everything. Its an artists medium and Artistry reigns here.

Now Ive kept you long enough. Go back to spewing downgrade in all your comments like anyone believes you. Anyone who tries as hard as you do in a futile subject is trying to convince himself more than others.

PowerPlayaaa3275d ago

@ unspoken

I can smell your jealousy all the way to Sweden ;-)
deep down, you wish this series and especially Uncharted 4 would be available on your "preferred" console ;-)
Try better next time mate.

@Bathyj
Holy shit.
Unspoken should live up to his name and remain Unspoken.

Unspoken3275d ago

@Bathyj, let's not get into namesakes, eh? Your comment reeks of desperation to save a game from any criticism.

The game is a Michael Bay quick time event on rails adventure with one of the weakest combat systems ever implemented in a game. Stop projecting Sony ponys.

Sorry, but Digital Foundry pales in comparison to any 3d graphics forum out in existence today. They just dumb it down for the console generation and you are more than a happy dog to lap it up.

Obviously comprehension flew right over and the previous comments prove as much. I don't care for the game and it's my opinion. I think it's more telling who's insecure about this game than anyone else.

The retail version screenshots shows background downgrade, Character upgrade, it's a trade-off.

nens3275d ago

They blur the background a little bit so you can focus on the character

BrandanT3275d ago

The background blur is a technique to focus more graphical power on a certain point. It helps make things look better and draws your eyes to it.

Nathan_Hale533275d ago

Depth of field..? Like real life..?

never4get3275d ago

Those leaves and vegetation in retail looks less shinier, less realistic than the PSX2014 version. Yes the character got an upgrade in the retail version at the cost of the downgraded background. It's a clear trade-off.

I love seeing an IMPROVEMENT with the final product. Why other companies fail to do this explains why people lack trust

Oschino19073276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Other companies are usually making their games for 3 platforms ps4,xbox1,PC. obviously PC has a much higher ceiling compared to console especially the PCs the games are made on. Mystery solved.

S2Killinit3276d ago

Then they shouldnt show the high end pc build to xbox1 owners now should they.

Muzikguy3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Even with PC there can be downgrades. I think Watch Dogs proved that? Did the end product look like the reveal? I really don't know. I just think that if you're showing a game you shouldn't show something you won't reach. Personally I believe, with optimizations along with tech advances, early builds should only be built upon. There's almost no reason IMO that a game should get worse (aside from open world or some others, but you need to account for that). They need to stop showing such great looking games knowing they can't reach it

Davi1233275d ago

@Oschino1907
Hmmm... Crysis 3..........

Nathan_Hale533275d ago

See, I feel like they should just put as much as they can, per platform. Although it would take more time to do so, it is a very nice thing to do for the customers.

Nathan_Hale533275d ago

@Muzikguy, Hellllll no Watch Dogs looked like ass compared to the reveal. The only way to get it REMOTELY close is with mods and ini tweaks. But I never bought the game, just know another PC gamer who has it and YouTube vids.

Well most times it could be due to them not knowing if their build would be final or if they would have the power to render and have all those features and still look good.

I don't really look down at CDPR because of what happened with The Witcher 3, it was a big game, a huge RPG and clearly they had to add other features that once added turned down lots of processing. Thus their target render would not be the same as final.

Uncharted 4 not being an RPG or anything of the sort, they can show off amazing looking builds and still have the look the same if not better due to not needed to add more features that turn down processing. Also add that Naughty Dog didn't make this game on many platforms, just 1. All their time was on 1 version.

The companies that "fail to do this" most times are not making action games on 1 platform. they are making process heavy games on many platforms and must market early and literally guess how those builds will look like on the final product. So I wouldn't really be so harsh on other developers as this situation isn't like those others.

Many might hate this statement, but Ubisoft, CDPR etc had real reasons why those games looked a bit different and neither company just lied about it, BOTH released statements explaining why it was happening for. I don't think CDPR was trying to misguide or mistrust anyone in the same respect I don't think Ubisoft was either. Both reasons are valid and its just due to making early gen versions of games on many platforms.

Love Naughty Dog, but no reason to bash other teams as I don't really think that is far, as Naughty Dog isn't going around saying anything like this or bashing other teams.

AndrewLB3276d ago

There's a big difference between CDPR downgrading the PC version of The Witcher 3 due to the parity clause in the licensing agreements which they had to agree to in order to sell their game on consoles, and downgrading graphics for marketing purposes. I can understand if ND had released the reveal trailer and later was unable to achieve that kind of fidelity due to hardware limitations because they overestimated the consoles power, but to show the game as recently as a couple months ago still using assets they knew would never make the final game is just wrong. But it begs the question... if the E3 and PAX versions with the higher quality assets were too much for making it to retail, what were they running the game on at those events? hmm..

_-EDMIX-_3276d ago

@Andrew- "if the E3 and PAX versions with the higher quality assets were too much for making it to retail, what were they running the game on at those events? hmm"

No, you mean what build where they running on consoles. For all we know they were running on PS4 and XONE, just with less features running as they've yet to reach the final build. When its all said and done and all the features are added, clearly they see they need to lower some models and graphical features to make the FINAL game run smoothly.

Having it look that way and run, doesn't mean its running smoothly.

Muzikguy3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Naughty Dog gets praised for their works, and quite often. Yes I agree about process heavy games and taking away from resources by the time the final product is done.

I think though, that as a developer you should most definitely have a vision of how the game will look in the end. All these things that are coming along lately aren't anything "new" so knowing what kind of resource heavy tasks you'll need shouldn't be that hard. Just like working with different hardware. It's their choice in what they develop for. If they don't want to learn the hardware, that's their own fault. This is their business, it's what they do for a living. I think that many of these companies most certainly do false advertise and when the end product is out, people are right to be angry. They're selling graphics knowing full well that it won't be that way in the end. Most people just want that stuff to stop (me included)

Oschino19073276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Do you complain when you go out to eat and the food doesn't look as good as it did in the commercial?

I would be more worried if it doesn't taste good not if it doesn't look exactly like in the commercial.

Especially if the commercial was released months or years before hand.

Muzikguy3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Ok so to that, the games sometimes don't play good either. People then complain and have that right to.

And yes, if you're going the food route I used to complain there too. I know they never look like the picture, especially if you're buying fast food. Real food elsewhere does look like its pictured most of the time. Games and food can't be compared though that way. It's a lie to consumers and shouldn't be tolerated. They know people are looking at the graphics and they want to look good as devs

Imalwaysright3275d ago (Edited 3275d ago )

Muzikguy

Yes, Ubisoft downgraded the PC version of Watchdogs and I don't even know why... maybe to make console gamers feel better about themselves. A modder unlocked some hidden files and that made the game look close to what was shown in the 1st trailer.

From videos ive seen there is zero blood and gore in the game. From the first uncharted video we saw it was some blood. Was it cutted out ?

seanpitt233276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

This is a 16+ game the Uncharted series has never been a adult game so they didn't put blood and gore in. I would of liked it if they did though like the last of us but hey what can you do.
