More information for Pokémon Sun and Moon is coming this week, and we hope they don't copy and paste the same formula. It's time for a change.
I think it needs more interaction such as personally flying a pokemon to locations. Having more puzzle types. An item is stuck somewhere high? Control your Pidgey to fly and grab it. Stuff like that. Also, I miss the Emerald, Yellow, Crystal, etc rereleases that combines the two and added more content. Just do it right.
I'm not a fan of rereleases but that flying idea is good. Build on the same flying mechanics found in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Agree that better exploitation of your Pokemon would be a nice idea. Of course it'll largely be more of the same, though, but hopefully refined. What's wrong with that? Why does everything have to revolutionise itself all of the time?
Those ideas + I wouldn't mind them borrowing combat mechanics from to the Paper Mario/Luigi series to make battles more interactive, it'd also be nice to see a bigger emphasis on story, i'd rather you play through the perspective of a Ex-gym leader or something rather then another generic kid lol.
Unfortunately, even though the original fanbase has grown up, Nintendo is still making Pokemon for kids. Simple and to the point, to appeal to them. Makes me sad, I'd prefer a more complex game myself.
Time for a change? Don't fix what isn't broken. Nintendo keeps trying to innovate and it bit them in the *** with the Wii U and it will again with the NX.
Nintendo doesn't even make Pokemon games, Gamefreak does. Nintendo is on their own with messing up their own consoles.
Nintendo is on a slippery slope heading downhill. Besides Super Smash Bros. and Metroid, I don't care for any of their games. They're too stuck in the past. EDIT: Wait I forgot I like Fire Emblem. The other games are too cutesy for my age. I suppose the age demographic that Nintendo is aiming for is a younger and more casual audience. In this aspect I can see why they're still successful.
Yet they broke Pokemon after G&S
i'd say after Platinum, as designs got really lazy and story is not to my liking.
OMG guys Nintendo should TOTALLY listed to GARYSHADOW of the prestigious Noobfeed journalism site. This man is truly a voice of the people. I mean just follow in the footsteps of Uncharted 4 and how it absolutely shattered the formula set by past Uncharted games... Oh wait.
4 uncharted games vs 10 (in pairs) pokemon games. I love pokemon games but I would like to see them change things up a bit. They are basically the same formula since the originals. Only 4 uncharted games and they HAVE changed it up. Don't know how you can say it's exactly the same.
How dare you forget about Golden Abyss.
"And they have changed it up" You're right. Incorporating more QTEs and zero interactivity cutscenes is changing it up.
Well, and Pokemon has been around for over twice as long as Uncharted. 4 games over 9 years for Uncharted. Pokemon releases two at once and has been doing their remakes/combined versions, outside of that, though, they're on their 8th combo-release over 20 years. If anything, it speaks to the universal appeal of the gameplay that kids still adore it today. I too would like to see some changes, but you can't deny they have the core concepts down to a tee.
Most of the Nintendo franchizes have been milked beyond recognition. Uncharted 4 is suppose to be ND's last Uncharted game. They know that all good things must come to an end and its better to invest in new IPs and new ideas than riding a one trick pony.
I didn't forget but it wasn't developed by naughty dog so it doesn't count towards whether or not naughty dog has changed things up over the course of their titles.
People have WAY too much expectations from Game Freak. It'll literally be the same with some minor tweaks and improvements to the formula. I personally want a MUCH better story that should be suited in an RPG, but it won't happen. It'll be ONCE again lol beat gyms, beat Elite 4, capture legendary rule the world.
It can and it will. This is Nintendo. They don't like making changes to their core series.
Lol what? Go take a look at previous Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games and then think about what you just said.
Dude, Galaxy, 3D World, 64 and Sunshine are like the exact same game. Mario hasn't changed at all over the past 20 years. Not to mention Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are all as indistinguishable as Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks, and a Link Between Worlds. ^That's sarcasm, by the way.
It's not black / white. Nintendo has some series where they aren't afraid of experimentation and change stuff drastically from one entry to another, to various degrees of success: Yoshi, Kirby, Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid and 3D Mario games. Then they have other game series where they usually just polish up and build upon their predecessors, without changing the core mechanics much, if at all: Mario Kart, Pokémon, Smash Bros, 2D Mario games, etc.
Some of those changes lead to bad ideas. The recent Metroid games have been garbage compared to the handheld sidescrollers and Metroid Prime games (although the third Metroid Prime was terrible.) Mario I suppose is here to stay. He's the mascot of all platformers and they can be fun to play every once and a while. Zelda, as cool as the series has been, is really no different than other hack n' slash/RPG exploration games that are out there. I could just as easily play Witcher, or Diablo, even the Dark Souls games and have a more rewarding and more in-depth sword game. I just see Nintendo falling behind trying to stay so close to their mascots. They were cool back in the 80's and 90's but people move on. These retro characters will get played out eventually just like Sonic and many other yesteryear games that were once popular.
They should revert to a more simple formula like Gen 2 had, and switch up the art style back to how it used to be as well. Reduce the luck factor and push the tactical nature of the game. More isn't always better, just tightening what exists it much better.
What Gamefreak needs to do is step their shit up and start including features that are made by both their teams. It was outrageous that a pokemon follower was trashed from HG/SS to the next iteration. It was even more outrageous that they dropped character clothing customization after a single game. The most outrageous thing is that gamefreak was too lazy to even patch Mega Pokemon (Which are a mistake) from Sapphire/Ruby to X/Y. Gamefreak are such mediocre developers, they are very lucky they're have sole rights to the franchise on handhelds.
Uh because Characters Customization isn't apart of Ruby and Sapphire.
What? Then why couldn't they add in Battle Frontier from the Emerald Version? Battle Resort felt cheap and lacking features. You mean to tell me that Heart Gold and Soul Silver can add in a bunch of extra content, bu the remakes of Sapphire and Ruby cannot? Stop defending gamefreak's terrible game development and practices. They pull this stupid crap each generation with their games and I'm getting sick of it. I like that you conveniently ignored the fact that Mega Pokemon from Sapphire and Ruby aren't compatible with X/Y also. Have any excuses for that?
Because The Battle Frontier wasn't built yet. ORAS isn't Pokemon Emerald. It's Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Ruby and Sapphire happened two years before Johto just as Kanto did before Johto. That is why Battle Frontier exist in Johto.
"Because it wasn't built yet" This is the worst excuse I've ever seen. You realize that Omega Ruby and Sapphire are essentially remakes that also are supposed to incorporate Emerald. Heart Gold and Soul Silver incorporated Crystal's features. Stop defending the lazy trash Gamefreak puts out.
8 gym badges, some renowned professor in your town, pokemon league, elite four... You're getting that.
Pokemon doesn't change? Okay let's see here: The advancements introduced in Generation VI include: http://bulbapedia.bulbagard... If you still think Pokemon doesn't change then you never played Pokemon beyond Gen II.
Sun and Moon will only add new stuff after taking away stuff from the last games. G&S the only games that added without taking away. The fact people keep fawning over these games mean GF wont change a thing. It's a shame too as I loved the originals and G&S, but ever since R&S it's been down hill.
Black and White 1 and 2 added in a bunch of good things also. But gamefreak has just said "We give no F***S* ever since moving development to the 3DS. Add in a unique new feature that everyone likes? Sorry but our next iteration of the series doesn't have it. Tough luck.
Exactly.. It's a shame as GF have some good ideas (time of day, seasons) etc that they then drop but keep stuff like "Pokemon compitions" or put stuff that doesn't add anything like the movie studio. Being able to teach Pokemon 8 moves but only 4 damage and 4 stat effect moves would add more tactical to play to the game.
I don't think so. After the great streamlining they did with XY, I think they have a winning formula!
It will never change, Pokemon games like black & white, y &z ect. are basically the same game just Pokemon that you can't get in the other.
they need to change up the battle formula a bit more. it gets really boring after a while.
l need a bone thrown my way already. l wanna see silhouettes at least! l draw what l think the pokemons gonna look like with others, it's always a fun moment for me
As well as they always sell I'd say they probably CAN be the same.
I agree, Pokemon has become stale.Coming from a company who's franchises are always evolving, Its shame for Pokemon to make little changes to the formula.
After playing Omega Ruby, the biggest change Gamefreak needs to make is the difficulty. Never lost a match, even beat the Elite 4 on first try.
I hope the new pokemon designs are good, if they add any more for Sun & Moon. I was kind of disappointed with a lot of the Black & White designs.
People still play this?
Seeing how the Pokemon Company generated $2.1 billion in revenue last year, I would assume so.
