Pokémon Sun and Moon Cannot Be More of the Same

More information for Pokémon Sun and Moon is coming this week, and we hope they don't copy and paste the same formula. It's time for a change.

I think it needs more interaction such as personally flying a pokemon to locations. Having more puzzle types. An item is stuck somewhere high? Control your Pidgey to fly and grab it. Stuff like that. Also, I miss the Emerald, Yellow, Crystal, etc rereleases that combines the two and added more content. Just do it right.

Grayshadow1110d ago

I'm not a fan of rereleases but that flying idea is good. Build on the same flying mechanics found in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Yukes1110d ago

Agree that better exploitation of your Pokemon would be a nice idea. Of course it'll largely be more of the same, though, but hopefully refined. What's wrong with that? Why does everything have to revolutionise itself all of the time?

Those ideas + I wouldn't mind them borrowing combat mechanics from to the Paper Mario/Luigi series to make battles more interactive, it'd also be nice to see a bigger emphasis on story, i'd rather you play through the perspective of a Ex-gym leader or something rather then another generic kid lol.

Unfortunately, even though the original fanbase has grown up, Nintendo is still making Pokemon for kids. Simple and to the point, to appeal to them. Makes me sad, I'd prefer a more complex game myself.

Time for a change? Don't fix what isn't broken. Nintendo keeps trying to innovate and it bit them in the *** with the Wii U and it will again with the NX.

Ruggadagod1110d ago

Nintendo doesn't even make Pokemon games, Gamefreak does. Nintendo is on their own with messing up their own consoles.

cyberwaffles1109d ago (Edited 1108d ago )

Nintendo is on a slippery slope heading downhill. Besides Super Smash Bros. and Metroid, I don't care for any of their games. They're too stuck in the past.

EDIT: Wait I forgot I like Fire Emblem. The other games are too cutesy for my age. I suppose the age demographic that Nintendo is aiming for is a younger and more casual audience. In this aspect I can see why they're still successful.

Mr_Writer851109d ago

Yet they broke Pokemon after G&S

Nathan_Hale531109d ago

i'd say after Platinum, as designs got really lazy and story is not to my liking.

Dan_scruggs1110d ago

OMG guys Nintendo should TOTALLY listed to GARYSHADOW of the prestigious Noobfeed journalism site. This man is truly a voice of the people. I mean just follow in the footsteps of Uncharted 4 and how it absolutely shattered the formula set by past Uncharted games... Oh wait.

ninsigma1110d ago

4 uncharted games vs 10 (in pairs) pokemon games. I love pokemon games but I would like to see them change things up a bit. They are basically the same formula since the originals. Only 4 uncharted games and they HAVE changed it up. Don't know how you can say it's exactly the same.

Dan_scruggs1110d ago

How dare you forget about Golden Abyss.

garrettbobbyferguson1109d ago

"And they have changed it up"

You're right. Incorporating more QTEs and zero interactivity cutscenes is changing it up.

The 10th Rider1109d ago

Well, and Pokemon has been around for over twice as long as Uncharted. 4 games over 9 years for Uncharted. Pokemon releases two at once and has been doing their remakes/combined versions, outside of that, though, they're on their 8th combo-release over 20 years.

If anything, it speaks to the universal appeal of the gameplay that kids still adore it today. I too would like to see some changes, but you can't deny they have the core concepts down to a tee.

cyberwaffles1108d ago (Edited 1108d ago )

Most of the Nintendo franchizes have been milked beyond recognition. Uncharted 4 is suppose to be ND's last Uncharted game. They know that all good things must come to an end and its better to invest in new IPs and new ideas than riding a one trick pony.

I didn't forget but it wasn't developed by naughty dog so it doesn't count towards whether or not naughty dog has changed things up over the course of their titles.

Bruh1110d ago

People have WAY too much expectations from Game Freak. It'll literally be the same with some minor tweaks and improvements to the formula. I personally want a MUCH better story that should be suited in an RPG, but it won't happen. It'll be ONCE again lol beat gyms, beat Elite 4, capture legendary rule the world.

aquaticDonut1110d ago (Edited 1110d ago )

It can and it will. This is Nintendo. They don't like making changes to their core series.

Kalebninja1110d ago

Lol what? Go take a look at previous Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games and then think about what you just said.

The 10th Rider1109d ago

Dude, Galaxy, 3D World, 64 and Sunshine are like the exact same game. Mario hasn't changed at all over the past 20 years. Not to mention Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are all as indistinguishable as Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks, and a Link Between Worlds.

^That's sarcasm, by the way.

deafdani1109d ago (Edited 1109d ago )

It's not black / white. Nintendo has some series where they aren't afraid of experimentation and change stuff drastically from one entry to another, to various degrees of success: Yoshi, Kirby, Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid and 3D Mario games.

Then they have other game series where they usually just polish up and build upon their predecessors, without changing the core mechanics much, if at all: Mario Kart, Pokémon, Smash Bros, 2D Mario games, etc.

cyberwaffles1108d ago

Some of those changes lead to bad ideas. The recent Metroid games have been garbage compared to the handheld sidescrollers and Metroid Prime games (although the third Metroid Prime was terrible.)

Mario I suppose is here to stay. He's the mascot of all platformers and they can be fun to play every once and a while.

Zelda, as cool as the series has been, is really no different than other hack n' slash/RPG exploration games that are out there. I could just as easily play Witcher, or Diablo, even the Dark Souls games and have a more rewarding and more in-depth sword game.

I just see Nintendo falling behind trying to stay so close to their mascots. They were cool back in the 80's and 90's but people move on. These retro characters will get played out eventually just like Sonic and many other yesteryear games that were once popular.
