Sony's Bought an Entire Channel 4 Commercial Break for Uncharted 4

Fans of Gogglebox – the bizarrely popular British television show which shows people watching, er, television – will be in for a treat this evening: Sony has bought the entire first ad block during tonight's episode on Channel 4. According to a press release, it will use the time to run a live Twitter competition, while showing off a large chunk of uninterrupted Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gameplay.

Uncharted 4 marketing must be the biggest I have ever seen in gaming:

- Trailers before Star Wars, Deadpool, Batman v Superman and Captain America Civil War;
- Champions League banners during semi-finals and final;
- Extensive TV coverage

and now this. Not counting the millions and millions of views on YouTube, seriously the total views of U4 trailers from the PlayStation channel must have surpassed the 50 million mark.

I'm really wondering what the sales will be for this title.

DigitalRaptor2902d ago (Edited 2902d ago )

3.5 million first week. 12 million lifetime is my prediction.

Crazyglues2902d ago

Has Pre-downloading already started on the U.S. PSN store... anyone know?

nix2902d ago (Edited 2902d ago )

It hasn't for me. EU here though.

@Italian,

You can't count UEFA. It's already paid for. If UC4 wasn't releasing, they would have continued with Sony PS4 or Xperia X advertisement.

I think $500mil for Destiny is kinda hard to beat!

Blastoise2902d ago (Edited 2902d ago )

Terrible show. Truly awful. Saying that, people love it for some reason so it's a great time for an ad

superterabyte2902d ago

The disagrees amaze me. The show is absolute crap.

vickers5002901d ago

It's because you're criticizing something remotely related to Uncharted. That's unacceptable on this site. It's like walking into a church and shouting "god isn't real".

Uncharted is perfect, therefore everything surrounding it is perfect by proximity!

Horseheadinthebed2901d ago

We all have different tastes , we enjoy goggle box (admittedly we are usually pissed by the time it comes on) and I saw the UC ad , good move by Sony as it is a very popular program, I personally hate soap operas but these are the most watched programs on the tv! But this translates in into ps4 time when my better half is glued to them....

The stellar reviews are also a big marketing and hype. 20 milli lifetime sales I say and hopefully more. TLOU reached 10 milli with probably half the marketing this is getting

kneon2902d ago

TLOU had about double the install base to sell into though, so even coming close to TLOU sales would be a phenomenal achievement.

emad-E-three2902d ago

Expecting 10 million copies in the first month or so!

Nivekki2901d ago (Edited 2901d ago )

'20 milli lifetime sales I say'

'TLOU reached 10 milli with probably half the marketing this is getting'

TLOU got that amount on two consoles combined, not one. UC 2 and 3 got about 7 mil each, and you somehow expect UC4 to get 20 million? I hope it does well and expect it to, but there's no way it will get 20 million. You have to be seriously delusional to believe that.

About time Sony market a game at least as hard as Microsoft does.

The best games of their generation too. Its incredible how great most if not all of playstations games are. Whether you like the stories or not you cant deny the quality of each title.

Hated tlou part 2. But im going to buy it when it is cheap enough because i want to play the remastered content for $10 extra dollars. Theyre adding a roguelike mode...thats going to be fun!
