i cant see where they are taking anything away? or am i being thick ?

It's not you, it's the author. Nowhere in the pre-order statement does it say they're taking away from the main FM campaign. What it actually says is that if you want an extra, more streamlined (read causal/mobile?) version then pre-order.

ScreenCritics2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

FM has had two separate modes for several years now. The "main" game and the "touch" game - a stripped down version that's been increasing in popularity and has always been bundled with the main game. This year in order to access the Touch version (Which most people will) you need to pre-order/buy through Steam. Failing to do so means gamers are locked out of a mode that was previously made available to them.

It's insanely dodgy territory when you realise that Sega is forcing gamers to choose specific retailers or be handicapped in their experience. This isn't cosmetic DLC, this is a whole game mode.

Also the annoyance is born from the fact that Sega took time to announce all this and put their pre-order bowel out but didn't bother to talk about the features that would convince gamers to shell out full whack for the game.

i already have 16 i dont think i will get 17

the part that bothers me is that is only pre-order I'll be o.k if the mode is available to everyone who buys through official retailers at any point in time

What’s Everyone Been Playing? – June 2016

Paul writes "It should come as no surprise at this point that Dota 2 and CS:GO by far dominate the first two positions. The surprise is at number 3 where we have Sid Meier’s Civilization V. While it usually sits comfortably among the top 10, the recent Steam Sale and 75% price drop must have rekindled interest in the title, while ARK: Survival Evolved’s frequent updates must have helped its ascension to top 4. And while I’m not one to make baseless speculation, I’m almost positive that Team Fortress 2‘s fall to #5 is in no small part due to the meteoric rise of Overwatch."
