An Industry Insider who's known as 'Shinobi602' hints at a more powerful Xbox, he replies to someone on Twitter by saying 'I do'.
. . wasn't Phil the first to mention anything about upgrades? At a later date we discovered that Sony could be working on an upgraded PS4.. If any of these upgrades are real. . It doesn't change much.. Refer to 'New 3DS' We are still waiting on games to release. . I want to know what we'll be able to play in the near future.. That is more interesting..
I believe so. If I remember correctly he said he wouldn't want it to be just a 1.5, or so, but the upgrade was to be modular like how computer parts were. Speaking of N3DS, I'm still waiting on a real Metroid Prime game that can push GC like graphics.
He wasn't referring to Xbox One. He was talking about a future console which would make sense. Release a console with a modular gpu design how some gaming laptops have, that could easily be upgraded mid cycle.
You are talking about his second statement from a month later, essentially walking back on the comments he made just a few weeks prior. He said he "envisioned a point where consoles received incremental upgrades, like the mobile phone market" He only went back to the "full generation leap instead of half measures" after the Neo rumors hit. Either way he's an obvious spinster, so I'm not sure that anyone should take a word he says for gospel. He has bent the truth, spoken out of turn, and downright lied more times than anyone can really count at this point in his short tenure as head of Xbox.
He never said anything about modular parts or anything like that. Look it up. He even specifically denied that they would do that.
Oh ok. That's why I said "If I remember correctly". I was unsure if I was entirely accurate or not. Thanks for the clarification.
in march he said this, "When you look at the console space, I believe we will see more hardware innovation in the console space than we've ever seen. You'll actually see us come out with new hardware capability during a generation allowing the same games to run backward and forward compatible because we have a Universal Windows Application running on top of the Universal Windows Platform that allows us to focus more and more on hardware innovation without invalidating the games that run on that platform." in april he said this, "What I'm saying is as hardware innovations happen we want to be able to embrace those in the console space," Spencer added. "And make those available and maybe not have to wait seven or eight years for things to happen." looks pretty much the same to me but of course those hellbent on scrutinizing everything microsoft does will twist things to suit them. phil also wont come out and say what it is actually they are working on until they are ready, none of them will.
Free Fro Yes Phil was the 1st to mention Upgradable Xbox One but you must understand this is N4G(I don't like the new look) anything PS4, PSVR or PS4K are all the rage here. Just checkout the Xbox section and see how they manage to squeeze in some Sony chit... What... the X1 don't have any news worthy enough to fill up its own section.
Right. @jb227 "Spoken out of turn." Lol.
If you think this is a Sony site, then you have only been here couple years. It was so bad and toxic last gen during 360/PS3 days. Sony fanboys are just having their time now. It has come full circle and now the MS fanboys are out numbered. The PS4 does have a 2:1 lead on the Xbone so it is expected.
I just started 6 weeks ago and I've gotten 2 check for a total of $14,200...this is the best decision I made in a long time! "Thank you for giving me this extraordinary opportunity to make extra money from home. This extra cash has changed my life in so many ways, thank you!",Click this link and... Go to tech tab for work detail... www.earnmore9.com
The first rumor was about component upgrades rather then a full system. With an understanding by the community at large that since that was shot down, MS wasn't doing anything.
Go back to the March 1st interview with Polygon where those "rumors" began. His statements were vague, but he never discussed actual component upgrades.
Thought hat's what I said: Rumors on rumors.
Yeah a 1.5 is probably off the table. But compare these reports with all the others, and the new wireless chip, and AMD's blatant confirmation of a trio of new console contracts...there's a lot of evidence here that a new Xbox is coming. If it's not a 1.5, and likely not just a simple Xbox One refresh, that leads us with the Xbox NeXt - aka next-gen Xbox.
"I'm not a big fan of Xbox One and a half," Spencer told Game Informer. "If we're going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers. http://www.techradar.com/ne... E3 will be interesting. Phil has stated that he'd rather go for a substantial upgrade rather than an Xbox 1.5 and he also talked about future Xbox consoles being forward and backward compatible ,this means any new console from MS in 2016 or 2017 will obviously still play Xbox One games and hopefully Xbox 360 games too.
Both of them are going for a substantial upgrade. Basically we are getting next gen early.
Well, let's see what happens at E3.
You think those rumored NEO specs are a substantial upgrade? You honestly think this will be the next gen??? My my my...
"Basically we are getting next gen early" Judging by the rumored ps4 neo specs, I would say no. Also I don't think the xbox 1.5 will turn out to be all the more different than ps4 neo (maybe It could end up being a little more powerful than ps4 neo like how the ps4 is over the xbox1)
Neo specs if true, are not a substantial upgrade. Some you console guys should spend some time getting to know how a Pc really works and how certain components work then this teraflops, teraflops, teraflops talk since this generation started. Neo specs that we heard about are nothing substantial if true.
The backward compatible part seems fairly locked in, but I can't really buy into the assumption that any Xbox Two game released 10 years from now will play on a launch Xbox One. Just don't see that ever happening, and if they did find a way to make that work, they'd be fixing the bugs for years to get it to work w/ any efficiency. Bottom line is that if Phil is being truthful & the rumors pan out of a new console, the XBO will have essentially had one of the shortest life cycles of any console.
10 years might be a stretch, but I expect both companies will require that the original XB1 and PS4 be supported for at least a few years after they stop selling them.
Flipfloppity Xbox? Noooo. They never do that.
I took it to mean he didn't like people calling it 1.5 because it sounds like a half measure and people will perceive it that way.. he would rather people think of the iteration to be a substantial upgrade to the current one.. basically he wants people interested in the iteration..
Whoah Nothing is confirmed unless it comes from the manufacturers.
It's a hint by a very known insider, but anything this insider (Shinobi602) is 95% true.
Bring it & take my money
It will probably be more powerful than PS4 NEO since it's specs have been leaked and Microsoft will adjust their hardware accordingly.
Oh come on. It's getting ridiculous with these articles about one tweet. I know he's very reliable but here a guy asks shinobi 'do you think blah blah' shinobi replies ' I do'. I think many of us do too so what? Wow next an article about shinobi saying 'Ho Ho Ho'
Shinobi gets a lot of stuff right but is also wrong a lot, for example with his huge list of leaks the other year he had a bunch that were spot on , but shangheist never existed, the coalition said they were working on a different SciFi game before gow4 in the GI interview, unless that e3 2013 demo was a futuristic stealth game, it was probably a tech demo like the Samaritan and the demo with the dreadlocks guy.
I very much doubt MS would risk it.
I am really happy with both MS and Sony for coming out with a new more powerful console. Lets be honest here, this generation has been great but the performance of many games have been hindered. And please dont be that person that says but it was only the X1 that had problems, that is not the case at all, both the X1 and PS4 have had numerous performance issues with games throughout the years since release (enough of the fanboy crap). As long as they do not force any people to update i have absolutely no issues with this ( I mean that as long as all the games will play on both versions of the console). Kudos to both though for these decisions as i definitely feel its in the right direction, both consoles launched with pretty gimp hardware (directly comparing it to PC hardware that is available). O and yes i know neither of these consoles have been confirmed but my statement stands because the speculation is there and even devs have even come out about the new consoles and how they feel.
I would like to see a halo 6 that matches the epilogue cut scene of Halo 5 and improved ai count and intelligence, and boss battles that matches dark souls if played on legendary, even tho the triple wardens and hunters were a nightmare.
Just like the Neo this is bad for the industry.
I don't really see how. As long as they play all the same games it shouldn't really matter. Those who have been disappointed by the lower than expected specs of the current consoles will welcome this. There's nothing to say that this will become a trend either. This could cause the 2 companies to delay a full next gen by a few years by tiding over those who want that extra bit of umph in their console gaming now and then bring out absolute powerhouses on the next iteration.
We shall all know in just over a month. I still think this E3 for MS will be introducing a Xbox One slim... Gamescom they introduce the Xbox Windows 10 box.
This is getting interesting but makes sense to support 4K since it will be a few years before there is a new console cycle. Assuming that it isn't much more than that. As far as these new systems replacing the current ones completely I don't see that happening.
are people honestly believing MS is gonna sell a 10 tflop console ? at what price may i ask?
A 10 tflop console is a pipe dream.
Is it? I fully expect that in the future we will see consoles sail far beyond 10 tflop. Or are you talking about this generation?
Yeah, I meant this generation.
If it makes the current models obsolete, I'll be furious.
It is obsolete since the first day and you bought it anyway. A new model will not change that.
I wouldn't call 20+ million sold obsolete. lol!! Maybe you are thinking about the Wii U, which has sold a lot less in more years on the market. These upgrades could be good or bad. It depends on how they are marketed to the consumer and at what price.
Not me. I'm all for advanced gaming.
So this Shinobi guy says he believes it and suddenly it's rumored to be "true"? I'm all for it and wouldn't be surprised if they announced it at E3, but c'mon.
Ok, you make Neo or 1.5, and will support original ps4 /xboxone games, but what will happend, when they produce 4k games? are this will still be playable on the original consoles ? are they gonna be reduce on frame/resolution? this is what really bothers me, i don't think gamers will feel confident about upgrading console so soon
4K is just a resolution. It can always be taken down depending on the hardware its on. Frame rate and resolution also. If a game is 4K on the upgraded consoles they can easily be 900p-1080p on the base versions. It isn't like they're adding exclusive features to the game that the base consoles won't/can't have. Just a performance bump.
Oh dear Lord, are we now getting a ton of these nonsense articles about an Xbox One.5?
Bet microsoft wont come out weak this time.
I'm waiting until E3...everything right now is just click bait.
So what? According to article writers and Xbox fans it's the worst idea on Earth when Sony is doing it. Just think of how horrible Xbox is treating it's fans. According to their own words it splits the fanbase. They must be the worst middle finger to them ever. Lmao. Oh you mean now it isn't? Lmao!!
Wellcome to the green area.
He's been trolling the green area for quite some time.
This was the only rumor I was familiar with... http://www.eurogamer.it/art... If in fact this is the case, I would imagine that would upset people who invested in Xbox One more than early adopting PS4. This would be an actual successor a little over 3 full years in. It'd also give them a headstart on the new generation over Sony, so there's that. I'd rather they just answer Neo right now with an upgraded Xbox One.
Of course they are tight lipped about the specs. Unlike past MS employees who just said what the specs on the machine will be, Phil is playing the cards close this time. Let the other company leak their specs first then better those.
It wouldn't surprise me if they jump to an entirely new console that is a lot more in line with current high end PC graphics cards. They need to shed the Xbox One name quickly with all the damage that was done at the reveal. The box was taken in the wrong direction by Mattrick and they know it. As long as it's backward compatible with X1 and 360 games I don't see an issue with it.. Don't forget how they killed the OG Xbox to jump ahead of the PS3.. Not totally out of the question, I mean look we might have an oompa loompa for president in the fall, anything can happen lol
By oompa loompa, I can't tell if you're referring to the Trump or Shillary
Who the hell is flagging all the comments as inappropriate?
XBOX fanboys who do not want to see the response of the PS users. They made the news about Neo a trash can , but they want the news about XBO 1.5 are amazing .
This is a Sony fanboy site you twit.
Actually you'll see just as many Sony fans not liking the NEO news as well. But I imagine you're only paying attention to the xbox fans because you know..... N4G and whatnot.
LMAO, your too stupid to even see what I am pointing out. Yet in your tiny little mind, because I point out the insecurity of the Xbox fan base, I am doing "damage control" and that makes me a hypocrite. It seems that you truly have no clue. #ignoranceisbliss #xbotwithnoclue #spinspinspin
Waluigi, if this was a Sony fanboy site (which it is not), I am sure that all of the anti-neo articles would have had most of the comments flagged as inappropriate, which they did not. Unlike like this article with salty Xbox fanboys trying to do as much damage control as they possibly can trying to censor people pointing out the hypocrisy of the XB1 fan base. #dealwithit
lol damage control. what do you think you're doing with this post? LOL #hypocrisy
@thisgamer, I am pointing out the obvious for people that are too dense (like yourself) to see the hypocrisy. #nicetrybutfail
