The 64 computer and handheld console fights for funding on indiegogo

I´m (Robin Ek, TGG) one of those people who more or less missed out on the C64 computer completely, as I´m a mid 80s kid. So I got quite curious when I heard about The 64 computer and handheld console. Because I never really got a chance to get into the C64 Gaming scene. And The 64 could change all of that for me. Nice indeed. However, there is a 150,000 USD catch to it. And the time is running out fast.

The story is too old to be commented.

C64 was a beast, so much better than gaming on SNES ( which was seen as a lame mass market toy by established gamers at the time).

C64 was the golden age of gaming for me. The technology was poor but the creative vision and ambitiousness of some of the titles was way beyond the safe decisions today's publishers make.

Sadly enough, I missed out on the C64 golden era :S So I didn´t start to play C64 games for real (as in A LOT) before the late 90s. Then again, only one person at my school owned a C64 in the early 90s -_-

Do you still own some of the original C64 classics?

I was a TRS-80 guy myself. It's what we had in the house. I remember it had a memory expansion made through a heath kit though.:) My dad gave it to me when he got his first 386, and I sold it to buy the original game boy.:)

I have never owned a C64 in my whole life, but then again. I was born in the mid 90s. So I never really got the chance to experience all that many C64 games. However, I have just started to play some C64 games via emulators =)

Well, I think a lot of late 90s and 2000s kids have missed out on the C64 completely. So "hopefully", The 64 can bring some noise out about the awesome C64 games to the youngsters of today.

I have one in my collection, and it's games are pretty good if you judge them by the standards of the day. Even has some which are more fun than many of the games offered today.

I enjoyed dabbling in making games for it in more recent years, but got sidetracked with a career and making portfolio stuff on other systems. Currently fiddling around with a PS1 game, which I am considering moving to DC just because PS1 is kind of boring to program for.

Ah, nice =) Me, I have never owned a C64 computer :S Really? Cool! What kind of game are you working on then?

rainslacker1525d ago

For the C64 I was making a cart game to fiddle around with it. Nothing serious and it was pretty rudimentary. For the PS1, and now DC game I'm making a space shooter along the lines of wing commander without all the story cut scene stuff. Just hobbyist stuff, but trying to make it good enough for portfolio work.

@rainslacker
That sounds cool man =) Do you have any pictures, videos or such to show at this time?
