Koei Tecmo announced today within its quarterly financial presentation the cumulative shipments in Japan and Asia of a few of its most recent titles.

190,000 for dead or alive is a huge disappointment. A disgrace. What good are exclusive games if they sell less than 200,000. There are 40 million PS4 out there and you only sell 200,000 of one game? That is a total letdown!

190K for Japan and Asia is pretty decent for a title like that. Not like it was a huge budget game. I'd imagine some of it was imports to other regions given how it all went down, although I won't begin to speculate on how much. Looking at it, in the regions it sold in, it actually sold better than it's predecessors which released in multiple regions.

Comparatively to the other games, it outsold some which one would think would sell better, like the Atelier series, but that's normally where the Atelier series is at.

If this were a 50-100 million dollar game, the sales would be abysmal. But since this game probably cost all of 10 million at most with marketing, I'm sure 190K in a couple months along with whatever DLC revenue they bring in will make it a fairly profitable game. A lot of smaller games like this sell less than 200K, and no one says the sales are bad, and no one would have here if this game didn't get much attention before it released.

It depends on how many copies a game has to sell for the company to recoup the costs. In the case of DOAX3, since it was a low-budget game, 190 000 copies sold is actually respectable.

All sales numbers are for KT's fiscal year ending March 2016 and DOAX3 was released on Mar 24, meaning that it sold 190K in just 7 days. I don't put much faith in Chartz's numbers, but it has DOAX2 sales at 250K. So what does this mean? It means that DOAX3 sold 76% of DOAX2's LT sales in 7 days despite the former not being officially available in the west.
