Dark Souls 3 Director Has Started Working On New IP, Demon's Souls Remaster Unlikely

Dark Souls 3 director Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed he has started working on a new IP. He also talked about a possible new Dark Souls and Demon's Souls Remaster

Yeah, if they ever make demon souls 2 its almost a definate they will remaster 1. Im kind of suprised dark souls 1 hasnt gotten a remaster. Arguably the fan favorite in the series. Dark souls 3 was good, i just dont see myself playing through it as many times as i did the first.

Im willing to bet hes working on bloodborn 2.

I'd love to see From Software do a game set in a mystical Feudal Japan. I've been playing the Ni-Oh demo and it's actually pretty damn good, but I'd love to see From Software do something similar. Actually, I would love to see them do a Ninja themed game like Tenchu. That would be my dream game.

Nah. Another Bloodborne would definitely not go a miss though. Currently smashing the chalice dungeons for my platinum, damn it's difficult.

Honestly, earning the platinum for Bloodborne is not as bad as you'd expect. I did it without any online assistance (including PSN or websites). Took me about a month and a half, which is longer than many others, I'd say.

The chalice dungeons, I'd recommend mastering critical attacks. The dungeons DO get pretty bad, but the last boss of the last dungeon (in typical Souls fashion) is a nice reprieve from some of the things you've likely encountered already.

Master critical attacks and I promise it gets much more approachable.

I'm mixed. I love Souls games but at the same time maybe it's time to move on. I can replay Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and even Dark Souls 3 time and time again though a Remaster of DS would be much appreciated.... DS3 invaders are a bunch of cheap ass punks. I hate to say this but it's almost as if the game is too mainstream, at least in that regard... As disappointing as this is I can appreciate the fact he's moving on and wants to create something new. Who knows, after his next game perhaps he will be ready to step back into the Souls world; or create a new Souls esque IP. Maybe some time away is what we all need. It's obvious time away is what Miyazaki needs. Even Kojima, Igarashi and many other notable creators/producers have wanted time away from their fan favorite franchises to work on something new. The same old gets just that, old, and change is good. My only hope is that at some point a new entry or Souls esque game is created again.

Sounds like those invaders are giving you trouble. My advice to you is to use a great shield/poison weapon combo (but try to keep burden low). Approach them with your shield up and they often assume you're defensive. Next, figure out if they're parry proficient. If so, choose your swings carefully. If not, be aggressive. Go Bloodborne on them until they're poisoned. Follow them closely and, eventually, they'll run away to try healing. run after them and deliver the final blow before that.

I've got a pretty great battle record against invaders doing that in all of the Souls games, with some adjustments made accordingly. Of course, I also have great means of dealing with distance fighters (magic or arrows). Once you get into the groove of it, you're pretty much just punishing people for trying to rustle your jimmies.

This idea has been thrown around a lot and I like it. But I'm just wondering how it could be done with the fight mechanics? I mean with Souls/Bourne, you've already got a pretty good set of medieval/victorian era weapons to work with. It'll remind me of the Dead Space games if that's the direction they're gonna go. I love Demon Souls. My favorite souls game. I'd love for them to join up with Nintendo to make something unique yet difficult. Lol I can dream right? The souls games always reminded me of the NES days when some games seemed impossible. NES rage quits were the funniest.

I love the Souls series and i am loving DS3. But it is painfully obvious that DS3 is similar in almost every way to the recent Bloodborne. I think it's time Hidetaka Miyazaki gave this type of Souls gameplay design a rest for a while and try something completely new.

The keyword you failed to include is 'ALMOST'.

And the combat is definitely similar to Bloodborne with the exception of no guns. But bonfires, embers, summons and everything else from the Souls series is mostly in Bloodborne. Also the sound effects are ripped right from Bloodborne.

You should play DS3 and then you would notice too.

Oh and let's get one thing straight, "bonfires, embers, summons, etc" are things that are mostly in SOULS GAMES, not Bloodborne. Last time I checked Demon's Souls, Dark Souls & Dark Souls II all came out BEFORE Bloodborne.

Both games have summons, both games have bonfires, both games you collect 'souls', both games when you die you have to go back to the same spot you died to collect souls, both games have the same leveling design, both games use the same type of control scheme.

Are you seriously trying to say that there is nothing close or similar about the games?

As much as I love Souls 3, I think I enjoyed Bloodborne better. I don't like the idea of summoning allies at will, and I never asked for assistance in the story or dungeons.

The overwhelming sense of exhilaration and relief when you lit a new lamp and defeated a difficult boss on your own wasn't present in Souls 3. It made many of the ridiculously tough bosses too easy.

But nevermind my little tangent. This is exciting news.

I am glad he is moving on to a new IP. Don't get me wrong, I adore Dark Souls etc. Bit look what he just made last year! Don't underestimate what he is capable of creating. It will be fantastic as always.
