"When did Gaming Turn into Watching Someone Else Play Games?"

It didn't.

Thatguy-3103077d ago

Exactly! It's no different to when one would look at how someone would play in their house. With the help of the Internet we have an evolve version of that with twitch, YouTube and what not.

_-EDMIX-_3077d ago

Agreed my friends and I would always watch each other game literally since we were three years old. Lol one of us being unable to beat a game has always found another one of us trying it out and experimenting and becoming fans of the game simply by watching over their shoulder.

I would say this is my first memory of being marketed a game in the natural sense.

One of the friends that I'm talking about held the world record for link between world's and also currently holds the record for Mario RPG paper jam. So yes watching other people game is kind of part of Gaming as well as a lot of fans might become fans of a game they're watching somebody else play.

PoSTedUP3077d ago

we all grew up watching ppl play games. streamng is the same thing except you dont get a turn :P. i watch streams on occasion if i dont feel like getting into anything in particular. if a new game comes out, ill watch a stream and see what ppl are saying about it. its like an honest review bc 1) you get to see it 2) someone isnt being paid to promote or review it. the criticism seems to be more genuine.

VideoChums3076d ago

Some Twitch streamers ARE being paid to play certain games...

PoSTedUP3076d ago

im sure some of them are, but i thought most ppl just get paid ad revenue from what ever marketing company

Blashted3077d ago (Edited 3077d ago )

I find watching people play games extremely boring and often they aren't too talented at the games they're playing. I get on my PS4 to game.

blackblades3077d ago (Edited 3077d ago )

Ikr Only time I watch is when a friend is playing and I'm forced to watch or I'm really really stuck on something and do a quick you tube search. Those people are annoying trying to be funny but aren't amd making unnecessary comments noise and etc for stupid reasons. I also don't watch any streaming that's like the least used function on my system and those streaming

Shy_3077d ago

Depends, I watch twitch for competitive games (counter strike, halo, smash Bros) because the gamers streaming are incredibly talented and I can learn important strategy/teamwork/decision making etc. when I come back to my game.

That one guy 863076d ago

Yeah I personally have been watching the overwatch competitive leagues. I'm excited for the game and wanted to learn as much as I can before release.

tanukisuit3077d ago

I still prefer pre-recorded stuff on YT, as opposed to the live Twitch/Ustream stuff... Also I don't really watch ppl play, it's more of the dumb/funny commentary, especially when they play retro games.

Arrow22833077d ago

I find it sometimes that watching people on Twitch is good as to getting ideas on how other people's play style is. Also Twitch ends up being better than most TV shows today. Not all but majority.

Sony just needs to up its resolution and framerate and it'll be quite the service, still don't like streaming though so doesn't really matter to me.

SpaceRanger1689d ago

Why is Xbox GamePass on this? Not a streaming service.

CaptainCook1688d ago

Xcloud will be included with Xbox Game Pass this year

RazzerRedux1688d ago

And they announced that.....when?

CaptainCook1688d ago (Edited 1688d ago )

@RazzerRedus
Here's the link from the engineers themselves talking about Xcloud at Xbox London Event 2019.

"There's 2 things.. We are going to give you the games you own from the cloud or the games you've purchased in the future, and we will bring Game streaming to Xbox Game Pass so you are Free to discover and play anywhere and everywhere"

SpaceRanger1688d ago

Once again, why is Xbox GamePass on this? Your comment only further proves my point.

RazzerRedux1688d ago

@CaptainCook

Thanks. I missed that announcement obviously.

Neither is Uplay or Origin. "Journalism"

2pacalypsenow1689d ago (Edited 1689d ago )

The only game streaming services are PS Now, Stadia and GeForce Now.

Xbox Game pass, Uplay plus and Origin aren’t streaming.

badz1491691d ago

it's not over 9000 though

Father__Merrin1691d ago

these cretins are all over ebay you search for a game key and something cheap comes up once you click on the post its actually not a game key but rather access to a account. theres no option on ebay to report them

arkard1691d ago (Edited 1691d ago )

Should be, what does not participate in digital sales (unless something changed im unaware of) so a sale like that is against there terms and conditions

I was wrong, they do allow digital items now.
https://www.ebay.com/help/p...

But I checked and there is still a reporting tool on the mobile website at least. You have to scroll pretty far down to get to it though

nucky641691d ago

not sure about that. i used to sell digital codes from blu ray movies i bought. i never used them so it seemed like a waste. i usually put them up for sale for a third of what the entire movie package cost me. the last time i tried to do this (around 2 months ago) i get message that trying to sell digital copies isn't allowed.

nucky641691d ago

so true. i was always curious as to how people were allowed to do that. now i know - they aren't supposed to.

Cyb3r1691d ago

Some websites sell accounts too Im surprised that noting is being done about this

JackBNimble1691d ago

And they're all stolen accounts

1691d ago
JackBNimble1691d ago

Why are they calling this trading accounts, this is plain and simply stealing.
