Overwatch is a brilliant class-based shooter, but who is it for?

You can’t deny Overwatch’s exciting gameplay and exceptional polish, but is there a chance for it to thrive in the current FPS landscape?

There is nothing about this article I dont like.
I was asking myself the same question as I played.
This will be a niche game, same as Battleborn although they are not similar games whatsoever.
Both of these games are either love or hate.

Oh by the way Lichdom is a piece of garbage of the highest caliber for the PS4 (haven't played Xbox version)
It moves at 2 frames per second, has motion blur that entices vomiting and the load times are some of the longest ive ever experienced in gaming.

This game reminds me of Gotham city imposters. I was so addicted to that game I spent a whole summer climbing the leaderboards until I hit number 12, then I gave up because I joined a lobby with the two top players and they where just sitting in some puddle of slime that let them heal each other constantly. They only had less than twice my score on the leaderboard tho.

Halo,BF, and CoD have lost me quite a bit, especially CoD after 4 with Halo being on a decline since Halo 4. BF really needs to push its boundaries like BC did because BF4,Hardline, and even Battlefront look like BF3 expansions.

As of now I am open to any new MP games, I barely play Halo 5/MCC and I actually play Rocket League more than any since it released. I am excited to try something new that looks like it will have a lot of character and has a great dev behind it. I remember back when I was playing the TTK in destiny and just hoping for some new MP game to take me to a better place and as of yet none have really delivered IMO besides Rocket League

You will find that Overwatch could be right up your alley. I feel the same way. Go to the overwatch site and look at some of the character intros. Then think about how there's always a objective to defend or transport, not deathmatch. Teamwork is the order of the day. Some characters don't even have a run/sprint ability. Instead they may climb walls, teleport, put up shields, or turn invisible.

This game is for the players that like team based gameplay. This is for the Team Fortress players. Every mode is objective based. If you approach this game trying to rack up kills then you're probably losing. Everyone has a role to play, maps are made with choke points in mind, and characters are so varied that it's like a fighting game with guns.
This game is NOT for the call of duty, Halo, Killzone players. Actually it's more for a Killzone player than Halo or COD because of the class differences and play style changes in Killzone. The team objectives modes demanded a balanced team. Get some friends and give it a shot. Best FPS I've played in years. Game doesn't even have a death match option, that's how serious team play is.

I'll definitely try it in the upcoming open beta !!! That will decide for me if it's worth for me or not =P But so far, seems fun if people actually cooperate !!!
