PS4.5, "Neo" conversation: Disrupting the cycle, price, upgrading & Nintendo NX

If you’re going to change the dynamics of how you release hardware, well yes, you can do that, but you have to retrain your customer and that’s not going to happen overnight.

As again..nothing confirmed.. But yet Sony has to say something about the PS4.5 they are acting like this is a foregone conclusion..
I really Hope Sony does not release it just to teach these gamer news sites a lesson.

Oh if Sony does this their going to be some anger...Some? Have you seen the gamer forums..ign states 10 gamers for every 1 was an angry gamer.

Some anger is understatement...if this is true at E3 there is going to be many gamers upset. And if you thought the reveal for the Xbox one was bad..this would be on a whole other level..talking about killing your brands power.. This would be how you do it.

I agree. Its going to be so bad if they go this route for so many reasons.

Millions of hardcore fans will find out that they will need to upgrade to get better performance for later games which is a deal breaker.

What makes it worse is that no one is asking for this. The devs are happy with the PS4 being easy to dev for as well as being the most powerful. PS4 gamers are happy getting the best mulitplats and exclusives. I have never seen or heard any PS4 fans wanting a more powerful PS4.

What PS4 fans really want is Sony to reveal more and release more 1st party games already. Thats really it.

This move does not make any sense whatsoever unless they are trying to sell more 4k media like they tried with Blu ray on the PS3.

As a hardcore Sony fan I really wish this is just a PS4k for 4k playback and not what people are saying because Sony will be in a world of hurt if this is true. If not now they will feel it come next gen.

lol nintendo is probably mad now they thought they were going to have the most powerful system out for a few years

If ps4.5 exists, PLAYSTATION fans are going to be mad. Dont let the fanboys on this site fool you into thinking its all ok. Watch when the masses find out a new, more powerful model is going to release.

It wont be pretty!

If they think the Xbox one reveal for outrage was at an all time high. I am betting this would top that in anger across the internet..and the internet gaming sites are getting their copy over this issue ready to bolster the story..why..because controversy always nets website Hits..

I'm a playstation fan and I'm not mad. I have enough sense to know that :

1) I don't need to upgrade
2) I won't miss out on any games
3) I can trade my current ps4 in if I wanted to upgrade
4) I rather have an option than having non.

People are behaving like cry babies, acting like Sony is holding a gun to their heads forcing them to upgrade.

It's like the old people from my dad's generation complaining about technology changing to fast and how it's stupid and worthless etc when really the problem is their own insecurities.

Both MS and Sony released cheap hardware this time as they couldn't afford heavy losses at the start of this gen. It worked out better for them but the platforms were less powerful. This is their solution, a mid way refresh that gives the gamers the option to upgrade or not without compromising / fracturing the userbase.

It might be a PS4 console specifically made for VR capabilities, who knows. other than this i just don't think a 4k console would be necessary, not when developers are trying to utilize the existing consoles.

Sciurus_vulgaris3346d ago

I have trouble believing this rumours. The PS4 is selling extremely well, so I don't see why Sony would want to release a new console so soon.

VR at up to 1080p90, 1080p 60 for all games, hell, 1080p for all games. It's just an optional upgrade. If you're fine with your current PS4 there's no reason to upgrade. I for one plan on playing FFXV at 1080p, FFVIIR at decent framerate, Battlefront at 1080p60, and Battlefield 5 at 1080p60.

These are just a few exceptions as games that run under 1080p or below 30fps on the current model... That's sadly, all I plan on playing, so I'll be buying the new system. If the current system is fine for the games you play, by all means, keep playing it! The new system isn't nex-gen, it's a slight upgrade that only a few games will benefit from. Sadly, the ONLY games I plan on playing will benefit from it, so I'm buying it.

But they have already said that no games will be built for the Neo... So it's completely pointless, your buying an upgrade that won't impact games apart from making more stable frame rates and maybe the slight resolution upgrade to 1080p but don't expect 1080/60 on every game as from what we have heard/read so far it's just going to be the base ps4 game but slightly smoother which tbh only impacts the 30fps games and makes the 60 fps games slightly more stable.

I'm interested but why upgrade when there is nothing being made for it or utilizing the upgraded hardware. It's pointless.

Satou3345d ago

Welly, that's what I'm saying, I know it's only a slight upgrade, but I'm buying it for the few games that will make use of such an upgrade. Those few games are all I plan on playing this gen.

Wait, I just realized something. PSVR was code named Morpheus, and the PS4.5 is code named Neo... but the current Xbox is still the One, lol!

The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.
