Qimonda works with Rambus to deliver XDR DRAM for PS3

Qimonda has started shipping XDR DRAM in volume for the Playstation 3 games machines. This follows collaborative work with memory technology company Rambus.

Qimonda's XDR DRAM, operating at 3.2Gbit/s, provides 6.4Gbyte/s of peak memory bandwidth with a single, 2-byte wide device.

The XDR memory architecture incorporates Rambus technology including low-voltage, low-power differential signaling and octal data rate (ODR) technology that transfers eight bits of data each clock cycle.
