As the release of “No Man’s Sky” is just a couple of months away, it would be timely to discuss what would people take away from playing this space simulator game.
No, that's simply too much. The game is extraordinarily large because of the size of its gameplay space, but it's not going to be bigger than games like Uncharted 4, or at least I don't foresee it being unless it's given a really big push by Sony, or word of mouth propels it.
This game is well known about by casuals, don't underestimate this title. It won't outsell Uncharted 4, but it will do extremely well.
This game has the potential to be like the world in "Ready Player One". Anyone who hasn't read the book, please do. It's geeky and a good read.
It will have legs for days.
I don't know, this game very well could outsell Uncharted 4. Not saying one is better or lessor or anything like that, merely factor that its an open world exporable title that lets you fly in space.... Its on both PC and PS4, for all we know this game can have LBP or MineCraft like legs. Little Big Planet 1 moved almost 6 million units on PS3. Uncharted 2 and 3 moved around 6 to 7 million units, but Uncharted 4 isn't releasing on PC day and date or anything of the sort. Don't sleep on titles like No Man Sky, this game very well could do something crazy like 10 plus million units if not more ,who knows. Uncharted 4 likely will move lots of units beyond Uncharted 3, I'm guessing over 10 million.
Meh, call me when this is finished. https://www.youtube.com/wat... https://www.youtube.com/wat...
I'm probably one of the biggest NMS fan out there, my hype level for this game is huge. But saying that, there are still games like FFXV, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gears 4 etc etc, that wil be very big releases this year. As far as space sims go, I agree that NMS will no doubt be the biggest space sim released this year... now that Mass Effect Andromeda has been delayed to next year 8)
Sometimes games just catch on, look at Minecraft or Rocket League, they outsell alot of AAA titles. No Man's Sky might be next in line. This game is already getting attention on prime time media outlets, not just gaming sites.
What a ****ing year though right!?
My anticipation for NMS is out of this universe lol. I lose sleep watching YouTube videos over it. Must have now.
It definitely one of them. I expect it to get mixed reviews, but sell very well. Alot of my casual gamer friends are super interested in this game, I think it will surprise alot of people just how well it does.
I'm expecting another situation like Quantum Break except in this case no one is expecting it to be GOTY material. I'm predicting a meta of 7 and above. P.S This is just my opinion. @Below Yeah I'm guessing that as well. Its going to be a love it or hate it kind of game. Hopefully it doesn't have any flaws that will ruin the experience for me. The game is extremely ambitious and it appears that it's worth playing.
Yeah, it think it will be mid 7s as an average. It definitely not a game for everyone. Some will love it, some will hate it.
Gees cant you guys ever talk about a game without mentioning subjective 'scores' I know its kinda common in gaming communities on the internet but still, most people I know dont care about review scores. I cant wait for many games this year but why on earth I would even start thinking about their possible scores is beyond me.
With up to 18 quintillion possible worlds, it has to be the 'Biggest' game of 2016.
i saw what you did ther, using quotations like its your day off ;)
I'd argue that Uncharted 4 will be bigger. But as in largest game well is agree with that.
Master Yoda: Biggest Game, Hmmmm? Overexaggeration that is.
Probably not when you have FFXV coming out the same year but it's the biggest indie for sure.
What about Horizon and Uncharted 4? Those games will be bigger than No Mans Sky.
Gears 4 will be bigger than Horizon and Uncharted 4 hence bigger than NMS.
@343 You can't be serious? Lol
Gears 4 will be big, but not as big as Uncharted 4. Historically, the series' are neck and neck. However, the hype for Uncharted 4 is abnormally high. The PS4 install base is significantly larger than the XBO install base. And Naughty Dog is on a roll. They're coming off The Last of Us. This game is going to be massive.
Gears is the more popular series and has one of the best multiplayer experiences/communities in gaming period.
Bookmarked. Expect a message after Gears 4 releases. There's no possible way Gears 4 outsells Uncharted 4.
Gears 1 sold 6 million, Uncharted DF sold under 4 Gears 2 6.6 million, Uncharted 2 sold between 5-5.5 Gears 3 sold around 5.5 million, Uncharted 3 around 4.3 Gears could of sold more but Halo and COD were the big games on the 360 for most it's life cycle Uncharted 4 now has the benefit of having 2x the install base but they're competing with PS4 gamers who'll be playing BLOPS 3, Destiny and Division Gears 4 and UC4 will probably have the closest number of sales out of the entire series
@Wranglers Heres the actuall uncharted numbers UC1 global sales 4.93M UC2 global sales 6.69M UC3 global sales 6.80M UCC global sales 3.9M And Gears global GoW1 global 6.1M GoW2 global 6.75M GoW3 Global 6.22M Deffnitly going to be a neck and neck situation, with UC probably taking leads as ther are close to 2 ps4 for every xbox1 for all we know that 4M sales of Uncharted collection may have been xbox users getting up to date befoer 4 is dropped. onlt time will tell
Wranglerz... Did you not read my post at all? It doesn't matter what happened with previous games. Uncharted 4 will massacre Gears of War 4 because: 1) Much larger install base 2) "From the makers of The Last of Us" looks really freaking good. 3) Gears 4 is being developed by a new team. Many of the same developers will be in the team, but it's a new team with no games to their name. 4) The hype is much higher. Even you can't deny that.
@343- I'm not sure Gears is as popular bud, also its being done by a different team so not sure the same fans will be getting the game or receiving it like they did the previous titles.
Biggest character models, sure. OT - Assuming by "biggest" they mean sales, no. I think No Man's Sky will do very well but at the end of the year several other games will have sold more.
The fanboy is strong with you
@ 343_Guilty_Spark Out of all the predictions you've made recently about what to expect from games I think you should retire the nonsense. Quantum Break GOTY 2016 and best third-person action game of the year, huh? LMAO! Uncharted 3 sold more than Gears of War 3. A new IP from Naughty Dog sold 7 million on PS3 and the remaster over 4 million on PS4. XB1 doesn't have a comparatively bigger exclusive game in 2016 than UC4 in quality or sales and they certainly don't have an open-world RPG that compares to Horizon.
If this was year 2008.
No, that would be Final Fantasy XV.
Gears 4 and uncharted 4 will be the biggest titles of this year.
I don't even think this game will be close to being the biggest game of the year... let alone being considered for any GoTY nominations.
Well, it literally is big.
It's also why more interesting than elite dangerous because you can actually go to all of those planets.
You can go to the planet's in elite dangerous, well a good 60%, the rest will be added a long the way. I would not say no man's is more interesting, space games however they're built all have something repetative and one thing very familiar and that's space itself. Space is cold, dark and very dull and you can only do so much to make it fun. While features may differ between elite and no man's, don't be fooled in how alike they really are. I've played a lot of elite dangerous and when I look at no man's eventually the same will start coming into play on no man's to. That is you have to deal with the very bland setting that's in front of you because it's space. That being said it still didn't stop me from racking up hundreds of hours on elite and once horizons is out on Xbox one this summer I shall be enjoying all the new content.
from what i can see from nms, space is used for battles and short travels to and from planets, i dont think there will be long stretches of space to fly unless you want to do that, its what you can do in this game that is so exciting, the planets, wildlife and other lifeforms, ecosystems. i really cant wait to get stuck in.
I've been looking into this game and I am excited for its release. What are the benefits of preordering this? Do you think it would be worth it?
Hard to tell since it hasn't launched yet, might bomb for unforeseeable reasons. You know cuz it hasn't launched yet.
Well I wouldn't go that far. Uncharted is a pretty big franchise. Battlefield maybe COD again? No Mans Sky could be the most important if it does well exclusively though.
