Beyond Good & Evil Resurfaces in New Ubisoft Trademark Filing

The long awaited Beyond Good & Evil 2 may be making its way out of development hell — according to a new recent listing in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), Ubisoft has filed for “Beyond Good & Evil” under Class 9, 16, 25, 28, 41. Beyond Good & Evil 2 was originally announced eight years ago in 2008, however has been the subject of many delays. Despite that fact, Ubisoft and the game’s creator — Michel Ancel — has repeatedly insisted the game was still in development.

Confirmed NX Launch Title

Benoski1054d ago

I would get excited, but I just can't, especially since it's probably going to be exclusive to Nintendo's NX console...

Ck1x1054d ago

Oh well cry me a river!

wonderfulmonkeyman1053d ago

Meant to disagree.

Why would you be disappointed in it coming to the NX when you don't even know if the console will be something you want yet?
Or do you just hate Nintendo so much that you'll let your hatred override your desire to play a game you'd otherwise be excited for?

@ King

That's the thing, though; we don't know how the NX's third party support will be.

At the very least, though, we know it's going to get exclusives from a few of them, as well as indie support, and both are reason enough outside of Nintendo's own games to get the console.

If this is exclusive to the NX, I might be done with Ubisoft. That would be a slap in the face to all of gamers who enjoyed the original and simply do not want to get a Nintendo console.

rjason121053d ago

That's what companies do, if you really want the game you'll buy the system, the rumor has it that Nintendo has agreed to pay for its development like how they did for bayonetta, cause the first one didn't really do too well in sales.

SquidBuck1053d ago

and the second one did?? Pretty sure nintendo stopped manufacturing it.

rjason121053d ago

Was talking about beyond good and evil sales.

Ck1x1053d ago

Well if the game wasn't going to exist without Nintendo's help then what's the problem? Oh boy we might have another Bayonetta 2 level of meltdown here.

SquidBuck1053d ago (Edited 1053d ago )

oh you mean the game that's now hardly available anywhere because it did so amazingly well on the wii u /s

rjason121053d ago

Platinum games stated that it did well enough, sold almost a million copies on a console with a 13 million install base compared to the first one between 2 systems with over 160 million install base.

jstark1053d ago (Edited 1053d ago )

If a game is exclusive to playstation or xbox than its fine but when its exclusive nintendo everybody losses their damn minds

wonderfulmonkeyman1053d ago (Edited 1053d ago )

Excuse you?
I happen to BE a fan of it.

IT WAS ON THE GAMECUBE TOO, and that's where I played it.

If anything is a slap in the face, it's your insistence that it would BE a slap in the face for this game to come to one of the systems that gave it a home.

ESPECIALLY if the rumor is true and Nintendo is the one that is FULLY FUNDING ITS EXISTENCE like they did with Bayonetta 2.
Which, by the way, reached FAR MORE OF THE INSTALL BASE OF THE WII U, compared to the combined install bases of the PS360 that the first one had to sell to, and therefore shows that there was more passion for the game on Wii U than the first one ever enjoyed despite its slightly higher raw numbers.

Quit being bitter over the possibility of the NX getting this as an exclusive.
Exclusives are there to make you want a system.
It's their purpose.
THIS IS NOT A BAD THING, and you need to stop letting your loyalties to other consoles decide whether or not you should get a game.
Judge the NX by virtue of what it is shown to be at this year's E3.
Don't skip on it, despite wanting this game, just because it's a Nintendo console.

Oh, as a side note; Bayonetta 2 did well enough that Nintendo did a re-print of it as a stand-alone title without Bay 1 in it.
They wouldn't have bothered if it weren't doing about as well as they expected given the smaller install base.

Bayonetta is all like, "cheeky".

Also remember FF7 on N64? Oh yeah right, never happened.

Money talks.

If the rumor about the sequel being a possible NX exclusive is true Ubisoft's bosses can expect a round of death threats not unlike what happened with Bayo 2 and Platinum. rofl

wonderfulmonkeyman1053d ago

Yeah, well, bitter fan brats will always hate seeing a game they want on a system from a company they hate.

It's their loss if they let their pitiful console loyalties prevent them from playing a game.

quent1053d ago

This game deserves to be fun and interesting, even though most people don't own a wiiu, the game has a better chance with nintendo, ubisoft should stick to selling digital beanies and making games that don't exist as the final product.
