Does Quantum Break Manage To Set A New Graphical Benchmark On The Xbox One?

Quantum Break is an ambitious title from the folks at Remedy Entertainment. It’s also in many ways a true union of video games and live action movies, something that the developers and Microsoft have implemented quite well in the game. Right from the day it was first shown off almost 3 years ago, it was touted as a title that will set new benchmark for visuals on the Xbox One in the same way Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is expected to do for the PS4 next month.

Well it's running at 720p.

DragonbornZ1052d ago

Not exactly 720p, but not exactly 1080p.
Regardless it looks damn fantastic imo.

CoNn3r_B1052d ago

It's 720p using temporal reconstruction. So yes it's 720p.

bleedsoe9mm1052d ago

it outputs at 1080 with no upscaling

DragonbornZ1052d ago

Producing a higher image quality than 720p.
Again tho regardless it looks crazy.

Just looking at it you wouldn't know

Quantum Break is the closest I've ever seen to replicating reality in a video game

@SpeakTruthAlways You notice people didn't start saying 720p or blurry until DF came out with their 1st analysis, it's because people had no clue

The game is gorgeous no one can deny that

"Just looking at it you wouldn't know"

It's looks so blurry that it's easily identifiable that the game is running way below 1080p.

Even 900p games like ryse and SO are much much cleaner.

Sorry dude but many people on neogaf already saw the extreme blur that was in all the media related to QB.

Exactly....before DF's analyst, everyone was just saying how beautiful the game looks. Now all of a sudden "its blurry" lol

Free_Fro1052d ago

Resolution is an attribute of graphics.. not the whole thing.

Play Tetris at 4K, would it be the most beautiful game you've ever seen?

poppinslops1052d ago (Edited 1052d ago )

Ryse: Son of Rome was 720p and it won the 2014 SIGGRAPH award for graphical greatness... pretty sure The Order 1886 won for 2015 - another sub-1080p game.

Uncharted will probably win this years, but it's not as though it looks miles better than Quantum Break... or are your standards really that high?

Cos the X-files avatar suggests otherwise... did you see that last season?

GamingIVfun1052d ago

The order 1886 was 1080p, it had black bars at the top and bottom( total screen was 1080p, the graphical image still had the same pixel density as a game without the black bars.

Doesn't look like its setting any sort of benchmark, for me, RYSE gets that vote, even though that's a launch title.

GamingIVfun1052d ago

RYSE looked amazing but it had frame rate issues on both the Xbox One and PC (high end PC's in certain areas). The game did not break any ground in game play or story telling though.

Quantum Break probably is the better playing game, many reviews say the story is flat in places and has an unsatisfying ending. Graphics wise their are many games that look better this gen than Quantum break. Character models look great though.
