20 Years of CyberConnect2: the team behind the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the Naruto games

Naruto and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure developer CyberConnect2 is currently working on eight games, a Polygon special feature on the company reveals.

One of those games is Final Fantasy VII Remake in collaboration with Square Enix. Another is a new virtual reality IP in collaboration with an unannounced partner. In total, five games are for console, while three are for mobile.

CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama told Polygon that he doesn’t want to spread the company out too small, and rather prefers to nurture a small handful of franchises. “We don’t really want to get our hands in as many pies as possible,” he said.

The story is too old to be commented.

CyberConnect2 has had a lot of experience making episodic RPGs with the .hack series, so it's no wonder they were chosen by Square Enix to make collaborate with them on the Final Fantasy VII remake.

I wouldn't think that that's a reasonable comment to make, They haven't made a .hack RPG since //Redemption 9 years ago. When Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura were interviewed, They praised Cyberconnect2 for their competency in action games but made clear that they needed to keep strict monitoring on them due to differing production styles and notably different production tastes.
