It's unlikely it will be released in the US due to the television broadcasting being a lot different.

The only big thing keeping PlayTV from the states is the fact that not all broadcast are digital. That changes in early 09. So it's not impossible, but it will have to be tailored to North American TV standards, which might take a while.

PirateThom, I think that will change after January when all broadcasts must be digital. I think after that point then you will see the box take on applicability here.

yaah but the EU countries use a different standard for digital television than US uses.. if you go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... then you can see which standard is used for which country..
but still, even if it uses different standard, they can still create a new box for a new region, i dunno how hard it will be, but i highly doubt it will be very hard since everything is there for them...

There's no HD recording because there's no HD freeview channels, but it can decode them was they start getting aired.

it is a freeview box, in other words, TV, LIVE TV. AKA your cable box. and its for your PS3. you can watch, record, and remote play live tv thanks to the box.

Is, will I get signed out from PSN when I enter it and will the XMB be available during it?

Oh, and will all users have to download the Firmware update so even if you dont have PlayTV you have this pointless icon in the middle of your XMB

I have a Tivo but it's only SD and is 80 hours on sh*tty quality(worse than youtube) or 23 on good quality(looks like live tv)

I have a 320g HDD (the max for the kind of HDD the PS3 uses) so I was hoping IF this came to the US, I could record in HD.

Isn't 70 pounds about $100-115
