If There's A Bloodborne 2, Should It Cater To A Wider Audience?

On the first game's one-year anniversary, one wonders if it would be better for From Software to create a sequel that is more widely...digestible.

From Software should consider creating a new IPs instead and release Bloodborne 2 by the end of the PS4 and the start of the PS5

joab7772955d ago

I'd be fine with a Bloodborne 2, bit it already caters to a much wider audience.

NOOOOO! It shouldnt. How would it even do this. Many new gamers discovered From with this game and it's great.

They should just keep making their games the way they do.

mikeslemonade2955d ago

Bloodborne is my game of the generation.

That being said I rather it be a one-off. Give me a Dark Souls to launch into the next gen. Of course From Software is always bad at timing.

iDadio2955d ago

I guess it depends on if they cater for a wider audience by difficulty or by changing mechanics. I am fine with them implementing maybe an easier mode you have to opt in for and it disables trophies or something least it keeps some happy whilst leaving everyone else unaffected. Changing of mechanics would ruin it however so I hope that never happens.

I have plat trophied every souls game and Bloodborne and I don't want that to be diluted by some casual changes :o

Morgue2955d ago (Edited 2955d ago )

I own all the Souls games and Bloodborne but have yet too beat a single one but I like the challenge, they're great games and that's why I support them. I picked up Bloodborne at launch and never really played it until recently because of my backlog of games and it's killer. Took me about 25 deaths to beat that Father Gar...... Dude and man I tell you, that's some confidence boosting right there then only 5 deaths to beat the second boss. Now I'm stuck on the blood starved beast but almost beat him on my second try.

I'd buy a second installment for sure .

PhucSeeker2955d ago (Edited 2955d ago )

Well, they have already been doing just that tho. Bloodborne still kick my ass, but not as hard as when it did at launch.

You can now store 600 blood vial/ bullets. You can buy stuffs with only 1 insight, instead of 10. Those are some that i remember, there should be more.

miyamoto2954d ago

That is the selling point of Bloodborne.
No one wants to make a game like Miyazaki does and gamers love that.

MajorLazer2955d ago

NOOOOOOO! The Bloodbourne and Soul games should be as they are. No catering to a 'wider audience', the games should be as they are. You either like them or you don't!

DLB232955d ago (Edited 2955d ago )

Yes. Bloodborne needs to step its game up to receive another meteoritic score of 90 or higher. The last thing you want to do is repeat or give more of the same.

The next installment needs to be open-world including character development, more weapons, and focus on a "friendlier" pvp mode including 8 vs 8. I also think the story needs to be less cryptic. This dark souls template is becoming a bit stale in my opinion.

SCW19822955d ago

Sounds like From games aren't for you. I feel like everything you said would make the game loose it's unique identity.

Morgue2955d ago

Exactly. I've already commented but yeah, the more brutal the better.

TheColbertinator2955d ago

There are dozens of games like those instead of Bloodborne. Play those instead

divinealpha2955d ago

Yah I'm glad people disagrees with you , everything you typed just have of the impression your not into the souls games, I mean 8v8 how would that work in a souls game , sounds like a hack and slash team deathmatch game

ThanatosDMC2955d ago

Character development? I dont even understand how that would even work on a Souls/Bloodborne game.

I bet i'm not the only one who wants to know what you mean by "friendly" pvp mode. We cant kill each other???

Goldby2954d ago

all i picture is The Three Stoogies mixed with Kangaroos boxing. heads looking up, fingers and knuckles flapping against eachother. all while hearing from both side "you stop it, no you stop it. ill tell mommy" ;)

IIFloodyII2955d ago

From Software wasting their amazing level designers' talents by going open world, would be awful.

Shadowsteal2955d ago

It's funny because technically the game is pseudo-open world. You can walk from the first level to the last without any loading screens.

SpinalRemains1382955d ago

Well, you have to use lamps and load to get to Nightmare levels.

Realms2955d ago

You are not the intended audience for this game, it got praise for it's homage to old school level design. Is their not enough open world games for you to chose from? The story telling was a weak point for me personally but the gameplay and level design are what make it stand out in a sea of mediocrity.

iDadio2955d ago

All of your suggestions are terrible, it is already kind of open world and I love the story its more interesting than being spoon fed dross right?

TwoForce2955d ago

That's just dumb. So that's a big NO.

mochachino2955d ago

Bloodborne was one continuous world with several distinct and captivating environments. Open world would make the game worse as they're far less environments and level variety.

Moe-Gunz2955d ago

Have to disagree bro. Bloodborne is one game that truly amazed me and it's for everything opposite of what you listed. The cryptic lore, the sense of accomplishment when you finally nail down the winning pattern to a segment or boss, the co-op and PVP aspect, and the level design.

Had to get that platinum and 100% the DLC. Totally immersed in the experience.

one2thr2955d ago

I think you forgot the "/s", never forget the "/s".

madmonkey012955d ago

blood born kinda is open world you just need to go to the right places to open up the other places, but its all linked and you can walk pretty much anywhere in the game when you have opened he doors.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2955d ago

Open world... NO

High difficulty level...YES

FullmetalRoyale2955d ago

My Bloodborne hunter certainly did develop... in a manner of speaking. 😷

Goldby2954d ago

no to mention the Zen i developed to handle the intense parts of the game.

sullynathan2955d ago

Lol please tell me this is an elaborate troll. This can't be serious

Goldby2954d ago

@DLB23

please. please never every make comments like that again towards From. afterall, look what happened to MGS when it went from a linear game to open world.

The game has Character Development. it may not be what your used to, but it is there, you level up, you become stronger, and smarter as a player. that is some of the best forms of character development.

When you say more weapons are you talking Dark Souls amount of weapons or something stupid like Destiny RNGesus weapons> its its a Dark Souls amount, that i will agree with.

Friendlier PVP, now that's an oxymoron if i've seen one under Black light. Darksouls and BB are devastating games, meant to punish you for screwing up, meant to teach you of your errors. how can a game that focuses on that create a friendlier PVP? if you want friendly PVP, invite co-op members into it to help you fend off the invader, or hide and let the invade leave.

8vs8 is a worse idea than Trump for President of a country that wants to kick out immigrants and force them to build and pay for a wall to keep them out. Everything doesn't need to be like CoD or Halo. part of the thrill of invading a game is not knowing how many people may be there, or being invaded how strong the person is.

Less cryptic? its a From Software game, they don't hold your hands for mechanics, difficulty or story, why, so we can gain some sort of ownership when we do beat it, or figure out the story. the "i did that" moment never happens in games now. From Software is keeping that alive, i only hope more Devs start doing the same.

Dark Souls template is stale? really, what about it is stale becuase as far as im concerned, its some of the greatest gamign i've had for a very long time. i always have to put games on hardest difficulty, and hate that some games dont have that option (online mainly) but love that BB/DS starts on Hard and only gets harders.

you sir. are not a From gamer. so please, dont try to change our game so you can add another easy game to your pile. Call us when you put your big boy pants on.

MajorLazer2950d ago

Your comment is the most AIDS comment I've ever seen. What you suggested they do to the Soul/Borne games is sacrilege.

No way, challenge is one of the reasons that make the Souls games so special.

Would love to play Bloodborne 2 or Demon's Souls 2 for PS4.

dp2774072955d ago

demon souls 2 or even a remaster of demon souls

BrandanT2955d ago

Nooo, people really hate when a game tries to cater to absolutely everyone. Look at Nintendo for example.

Kalebninja2955d ago

I don't get this, Nintendo has always catered to everyone and that's why they own the biggest IPs in gaming.

antikbaka2955d ago

which are declining more and more in sales

Kalebninja2955d ago

@Antikbaka and where are you getting that from?

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno23d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3323d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree23d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga23d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno22d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

9 Years Later, Does Bloodborne Deserve All The Praise It Gets?

Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."

jznrpg24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne

thorstein24d ago

I literally replayed it recently and it's better than I remember. I think it's like going back to a beloved book and noticing things I hadn't before.

raWfodog24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Yo! I was getting ready to reply with the exact same four words you started with lol. Yes, I think Bloodborne has withstood the test of time and remains a great game. That’s why all the fans are hoping for a sequel someday. Hoping that we can catch that magic again with a new storyline.

Leeroyw24d ago

Yes. Just replayed it a few days ago. My first Platinum. And yes. I rage quitted so many times and called it BS too when I started. It's tight. The combat is amazing and the lore is rich.

GamingSinceForever24d ago

Elden Ring was easier? I don’t know about that at all. I remember leveling up in Bloodborne and breezing through it. In Elden Ring no matter how powerful I got I was still catching a beat down from every boss.

thorstein24d ago

That's due to scaling enemies. I remember not doing Haligtree untill near the end and having enemies withstand almost a full blast from Azur's Glintstone Staff Comet Azure. My level was quite high.

Melee characters are not fun in that game, especially for the Elden Beast.

Bloodborne's Potential Remaster Continues To Be Sony's Biggest Missed Opportunity

"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.

thorstein53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.

Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.

53d ago
-Foxtrot52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

To be fair Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview

“Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware.”

So the ball kind of is in Sonys court, it feels like a missed opportunity because it’s something people really want and Sony just hasn’t really been bothered to get it off the ground. There was rumours it was at one point but it all went silent.

Cacabunga51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Sony has been missing nothing but opportunities for a few years now.. since GOW release, it’s worrying silence we’ve been getting..

As for Bloodborne, imo it would be too soon to release it because PS4 game still looks phenomenal..

Bloodborne REMAKE I think will be PS6 launch title by Bluepoint. I truly hope so! 2 gens later we can get the same wow effect as Demons Souls.

Eonjay51d ago

He is right because it is Sonys IP but a little further back he also explained that they only work on one game at a time. This means that From must also be available. In other words it could already be in the pipeline. Ecen if that is the case, it's still up to Sony to reveal it when they are ready. As ever, I prefer not to hear about it until it's about 3 to 6 months from releasing.

CrashMania52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

'Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software'

Actually Sony owns the IP, same with Demon's Souls. I think they'd prefer if From did the work on any future of both of those though, but if Sony wanted to they could have those off to anyone else to work on them, like the DS remake.

thorstein52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Yeah. Thanks for the info.

But I still think that remasters should wait a generation. And Blue Point did Demon's Souls which was superb.

It can be a huge risk. And I think Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that it would be a PS6 title. I don't he has no say in what happens, it's a partnership.

--Onilink--51d ago

To be honest, if there is a remake/remaster (not that it needs one) I would prefer someone else to handle it, like they did with Demon Souls

From many perspectives From Soft is an amazing developer, BUT, on a technical level they are far from impressive, both in terms of dated visuals (again, on a technical level, not art/design) and usually poor performance.

And what is the point of a remake/remaster if not to provide a visual and performance enhancement to a game that already nailed the rest?

Michiel198951d ago

@thorstein what huge risk? Part of one of the most well known ip's in gaming nowadays, there's not much risk there when it comes to a remake.

thorstein51d ago

@Michiel

I meant remasters in general are a huge risk, not Bloodborne.

Bloodborne isn't, but I think it's going to be on PS6, like how Demon's Souls went from PS3 to PS5.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thorstein,

Wow, your post seems angry..relax it's an opinion.

And btw, it is on Sony, they have the exclusive right to the game, on top of that, they could have easily, at bare minimum, offered an official 60fps patch, with a few extras and charged people $10 to upgrade or $30-40 for new buyers.

I believe I saw an interview where , FromSoft said it was all up to Sony on a sequel and other dealing with the game.

A "hit peice", that serious huh?..relax lol.

thorstein51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Wow you seem angry. I responded to crash 2 days ago about the remaster and who did it.

Why do you care what other people think in a moment about some journalism. Calm down, buddy, it's just my opinion. From 3 days ago.

Edit: I just went back through my comments and found 2 where I call out the author in the past month. Wow, I'm a rageaholic.

It will be a launch title on PS6 just like the remake of Demon's Souls for PS5 launch

OhReginald51d ago

Sony realizes people will flock to buy ps6s for a bloodborne remake. Easy money.

jznrpg51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Rumored it’s slated for PS6 launch. Some say PS5 Pro. Who knows ?

P_Bomb51d ago

Highly requested, unfortunately neglected.

Some say we didn’t need TLOU2 remake but that was a PS4 game and now we need a BB remake but that was a PS4 game. We send mixed signals
