Back to where it started being big.

naruga2966d ago (Edited 2966d ago )

Tekken chars were always PSconsoles atypical mascots, at least in fighting genre ...it started , was loved most and it will continue there...also to be honest the worst Tekken was 6 which went multi

divinealpha2966d ago

Yah your reaching to far with this tekken 6 was worse , and because it was multiplatform ,that's just plain stupidity and fanyboism. Tt2 wasn't crap an it was multi.

Hoffmann2966d ago

The worst Tekken game ever is Tekken Advance ;-)

naruga2966d ago (Edited 2966d ago )

@ divinealpha yeah TT2 was very good indeed (i forgot that) ..but when i mean multi, i mean they tried to appeal to a far more wide audience which may never had played fightings or Tekken ..thats why they created the worst char in Tekken - Alexanderson

DarXyde2966d ago

That's reaching a bit.

And I'd say 4 was the worst of the Canon series (excluding Tag and Advance). 5 is still my favorite. TTT2 was pretty good.

Tekken 4 was the worst to me but Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was amazing! Even as multiplat. The 360 controller however was straight up horrible compared to the PS3 mainly due to the D-pad.

Also, it could be on Nx. Bandai said home consoles so that can't just be the PS4.

darthv722966d ago

@eonjay, who uses a dpad for fighting games? Seriously, even PS fans that are into fighting games would use a stick. A good universal stick has made 360 and PS3 games feel and play the same including Tekken 6 and the various SFIV's.

@griever, the PS fans didn't lose any of those games you just mentioned. I believe they came to PS systems just fine. You can't blame MS for companies wanting to get more $$ from their wares.

Like it or not the publishers wanted to see how well such games would be received by people who gamed on other platforms.

bloop2966d ago

@Darth: I was ranked 27th in the world in SFII hyper on xbox live and all using a regular 360 pad. And now playing SFV competently with a DS4. I can't use a fight stick for my life, so I for one am one of those people that uses a pad for fighting games.

darthv722966d ago

I am curious as to VR content. If it plays like a traditional Tekken game then the VR would seem to make it like the 3DS SFIV where you could play with 3D effects on or off.

So this game will have some VR content but ultimately be approachable to those without VR. Hopefully Namco makes a deal to have this game be cross platform if it does come to the XB1. To battle online with players from PSN, PC and XBL would be awesome.

bouzebbal2966d ago

Tekken belongs on PS consoles...

t-hall7852965d ago

@Darth I use Dpad and I'll beat your @$$. Dont believe me, add me T_Hall187

ShinMaster2965d ago (Edited 2965d ago )

@darthv72

Umm what? A lot of people use the D-pad.

Maybe on Xbox you have to rely on the stick, but a lot of PS players use the D-pad for fighting games because it's actually decent.
It's also the reason why all fight pads have D-pads and most don't include a stick.

Some of the top players in the FGC use pads. Snake Eyes, Louffy, Smug, Vangief, among others). One of them even won using an old stick-less PS1 controller.

Kryptix2965d ago

@Darth

Me and my brother got the Mortal Kombat 9 trophy, Get 10 wins in a row in online matches, tag teaming, using two Dualshock 3 controllers. Sub Zero and Scorpion combo if you're curious.

A lot of people use the D-Pad, especially Playstation owners beecause the Dualshock's D-Pad is amazing and can be used for any genre of game. It works really well and is my favorite D-pad, right up there with the NES/Nintendo ones.

And Tekken is way more popular with Playstation... Just like Tomb Raider was, too.

Playstation is the home of fighting games.

darthv722966d ago

Saturn and Dreamcast are my go to fighting platforms.

Sunny_D2966d ago

@darth

Comment is just like those consoles. Irrelevant.

Loktai2966d ago

That's a pretty outdated view but that being said... fighters megamix, street fighter alpha and xmen st fighter on Saturn were great as we're third strike, project justice, Capcom vs snk esp pro, and others lke soul calibur on dreamcast. ... some of my best memories but I'll say I've been having a great time with street fighter 5, and many of the newer tekken games , and thought 3 was the best soul caliber overall though I know many prefer 2. Even in those days it was left behind pretty quickly. I would still bust out a dreamcast for project justice though , I've been dying for a new rival schools game even think I might have heard something about it? I know powerstone was a big one for many too, I thought it was OK but wasn't what I'd call a traditional fighting game really.

Crimzon2966d ago

If Sony really wanted to be the true home of fighting games and give us all something truly special, they'd strike another deal with Capcom but this time do so to fund a brand new Marvel vs. Capcom game.

It's an absolute tragedy that after so long waiting for a sequel to MvC2 we finally got MvC3 & UMvC3 which were amazing games, but they're relegated to last-gen consoles due to lack of backwards compatibility and are now only available via the used market since Capcom lost the license and the games were pulled from PSN & XBL.

If Sony could get Marvel vs Capcom 4 made, the fighting game community would worship them like gods.

BG115792965d ago

Last generation and because of the input lag it was the 360.
But in this generation, if Tekken really becomes an exclusive, is a total inversion.

Sora782965d ago

Yep, Street fighter 5, King Of Fighter XIV, Guilty Gear and Tekken 7 !!!
I would love to see a new "Powerstone" and a new "Bloody Roar"

The double standards xD

Just because it started on Playstation? (Xbox didnt even exist back then?) XD you ps4 guys are hilarious sometimes.

Why o why2966d ago (Edited 2966d ago )

lol, dont take everything so seriously but...it is the spiritual home regardless of what was or wasn't available at the time.

I didn't see this coming. I'm just glad Ill be getting to play my top 3 current fighting games. Would love a powerstone samurai showdown and a bloody roar.... cap nod to smash brothers and soul calibur/edge though... still relevant in my eyes

InTheZoneAC2966d ago

and why are you so sensitive? And why do you find yourself on the wrong side of the consoles?

2966d ago
WelkinCole2965d ago

Still some people don't understand why sales are important to 3rd party and why any exclusive on the platform are also important to increase the sales of the console.

I was always under the assumption that Tekken 7 would be a multiplat title. Not to mention that Akuma guest starring in said game is a test bed for the eventual upcoming Tekken X Street Fighter, which would most likely be a multiplat like Street Fighter X Tekken before it.

GameDev12966d ago

Yeah, I assumed also with Akuma being a guest character that Tekken would likely be a ps exclusive

And am also assuming Street fighter x tekken wont come out anytime soon cause that would mean Xbox players get access to new street fighter V characters which the exclusive deal wont allow

FallenAngel19842966d ago (Edited 2966d ago )

@ GameDev

I'm pretty certain he said he assumed that Tekken 7 would be a multiplat, not that it would be a PS4 exclusive.

Also Street Fighter X Tekken has already come out 4 years ago and was a multiplat. Tekken X Street Fighter on the other hand has yet to appear, but it will also likely be a multiplat like SFxT before it. The SFV exclusivity only extends to the game itself, not for its characters not appearing in other games.

sadsatan2966d ago

i wish virtua fighter 6 was being made

AizenSosuke2966d ago

Same but PS4 exclusive release interesting!

dennigo2966d ago

how can they include jin AND devil jin but not lei that's bullshit boys

Hoffmann2966d ago

Harada mentioned that more characters are getting added to the game

Alexious2966d ago

Right now, PlayStation 4 is the console to own for fans of fighting games.
