PlayStation VR Worlds: The Wii Sports of VR

Joe from GamersFTW writes: "For those of you that may have been encased in ice for the past few days and have only just emerged back into the waking world, Sony have just given us a lot of information about PlayStation VR, including the price and release date- £349.99 and October 2016. In the wake of this news, there’s been a plethora of trailers that are all meant to get us salivating like Pavlov’s dogs at the dropping of “VR” in any game trailer that’s farted out over the next few months."

In all honesty, The London Heist looks pretty cringe. I'm also still a bit unsure how bad VR is for your vision long-term. Then there's the price tag. I don't know, I'm all for technological progress, but I'm wondering if VR is still as gimmicky as it looks.

It's probably better for your eyes than staring at an un-moving 2D screen for hours. At least in VR your eyes are active. Receiving stereoscopic depth information about your surroundings is much more natural than having them sit at a constant focus.

I dont think anyone really will know how positive or negative VR is on eyes for quite a few years...its not a measurable thing yet. Personally though I would suspect super heavy use of VR over the long haul likely isn't going to be fantastic for ones vision. Time will tell.

PSVR at 399 has sold me (i was willing to pay up to 499 given the tech) and i love how London Heist and the others look. Good, positive impressions all around about PSVR has cemented how good it really is. VR cinema is also a big glob of icing on the cake.

I definitely wanna see a shark try to attack me in VR, playing Into the Deep. That could be intense

skydragoonityx3046d ago (Edited 3046d ago )

im just happy PSVR is finally here and is kinda affordable.

Rimeskeem3046d ago

Well, it's certainly more affordable than other VR

Ok most of that looked solid....but Dangerball?!?!? I dub that the headbutting simulator. Why? Just why...

What? They don't want to go and crap on the corpse of Tango Gameworks?

C'mon it's the perfect time for a Phil Spencer speech about how they love and want to support Japanese game developers!

Cacabunga14d ago

Xbox is a joke all over, in Japan even more..

I think they shouldn't go TGS every year tbh because there presence is zero imo

IAMRealHooman14d ago

he's not wrong, Japan has been a a notoriously weak market for them, their best performing gen was the 360 and that was only 1 million units

shinoff218315d ago

This is usually my favorite gameshow of the year. Can't wait to see what goodies are coming.

jznrpg15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

I want to see the jrpgs so I also like the show a lot

gold_drake15d ago

not surprised, they probably realised that its a lost cause for them in japan ha.

badz14914d ago

achtually, it's a lost cause for them everywhere outside the US

Elda15d ago

They showed their hand already including that they have nothing for the Japanese market.

Hofstaderman14d ago
