In general, there has been an obvious effort to make the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. formula more forgiving. Base camps are more numerous and distributed, giving you more moments of safety and opportunities to stock up on supplies. Besides the usual merchants and barmen, you'll also find a mechanic in every base who can repair your damaged equipment for a price, taking some of the frustration out of the previous game's relentlessly degrading weapons and armor.
