What I'm getting from the article is that pro gamers should try to stay physically fit to combat the abnormal amount of stress they endure, mentally and physically.

They aren't saying these gamers deal with the same busted ankles and shattered bones. Just that they're performing mentally and physically at a level you have to be careful with.

I would say Mentally they could endure the same amount of stress, but physically not so much.

Uh... Yeah they do. Didn't you read the article? They sometimes move their fingers a LOT.

Monitors can cause eye strain whose symptoms can mimic a mild concussion. Obviously new rules need to be made which protect the players from money grubbing league owners. At the very least, Aspirin should be made available as a mandate.

Plus carpel tunnel can sometimes lead to serious debilitating crippling of the hands muscles which could cause the players to have to spend a whole hour in an outpatient surgery which could hinder their ability to play games for a whole week...potentially causing them to lose out on thousands of dollars in income.

Throw in bad posture from leaning over a desk, and you get serious back problems. Then there's the potential for painful kidney stones due to copious consumption of sugary beverages...which admittedly could be more painful than a broken leg.

Obviously all that is on the same level as having the possibility of one's neck snapped and never being able to walk again, or having to have multiple pieces of metal inserted into ones joints followed by months of extensive painful physical therapy the same way professional athletes can.

You mean cramps for sitting in one spot for a long time? Doubtful they will tear acls or pull a hammy while playing games. Unless they get up from their chair and do it and it was probably more because they are out of shape.
