Dragon Quest X for Wii U is free to download in Japan until March 31

The Wii U version of Dragon Quest X: Awakening of the Five Tribes Online is free to download on the Japanese Nintendo eShop in Japan starting today and lasting until March 31 at 23:59 Japan time, Square Enix announced.

Still has a monthly subscription since it's an MMO, which most Dragon Quest fans would hate anyway...

The offline mode will still be free though and won't require a subscription fee.

oh there is an offline mode you don't have to pay to use? that's actually pretty cool.. but this game wasn't even ever rumored for a US release so not sure why everyone here was so disappointed lol

My brain's a little foggy from lack of sleep and over-worked but i think they announced they're releasing it on the NX and PC. Given the surge of popularity DQ has garnered in the West as of late, plus the announcement of DQ 7 and 8 being remade it would seem that Nintendo and 'Sqeenix' want to push it even more. There's always hope and if Western sites keep reporting on it regardless of it being Japan-Only atm, that can only help it's chances too.
