Even though Naughty Dog says they just couldn't find a way to make a new J&D work, if the R&C remake is a huge success, well...dare we hope?
The dual protagonist nature of some games have led to numerous dynamic duos in gaming. Here are some of the best ones.
The Prince and Farah
Few others:
- Booker and Elizabeth
- Joel and Ellie
- Jade and Pey'j
- Jak and Daxter
- Nate and Sully
- Master Chief and Cortona
- Gordon and Alyx
Fans who pine for the days of Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter are in for some good news, as the complete series is now playable on PS5 with trophy support. This isn’t just the trilogy either, as the PSP games and Jak X are also available, so hardcore Jak fans can now relive these great titles.
Underrated? J&D was one of the most popular IPs at the time, quite literally the face of the ps2 beside God of War
Would love to see a open world Jak 4 on the PS5, would be amazing, but I know ND said they'd never do it.
Seeing jak&d left in the past like that really makes me appreciate nintendo even more for atleast keeping mario, zelda, metroid, and others around while making em still feel fresh, Playstation should have another gem besides astroboy and ratchet&clank
i wouldnt call jack and daxter underrated.
its a beloved franchise that pretty much was one of the biggest games on the ps2 and psp
Hanzala from eXputer: "On this joyous 8th anniversary of the Ratchet and Clank reboot, it's about time Sony considers reviving the originals to complete the saga."
It's not the ideal situation but Sony does offer them on ps plus. I to would just like a big ass compilation on doscto though
Insomniac roadmap leaked a while ago and they are making another, they’re doing the best they can and these games, especially the last two, are master pieces
Well a re-telling-remake seem to be the best way to go with most of our old franchises. It's killing 2 birds with 1 stone at the end of the day. You are remaking something but you are also creating something new which doesn't ruin the old games so if anything goes wrong you can just hop back over to the other Universe.
Worked for the Resident Evil remake, I still count that as a new world separated from the original. It kept the same characters, same locations, similar story but expanded on the mansion and lore. People get so attached to characters that instead of pumping out another sequel which will prolong an already closed story at least this idea allows developers to tell a story in a different way. One small change in the first game could change the entire timeline of future games.
I think it would work in Jak and Daxter. I mean it would be fantastic to get back to the lush green areas with bright vibrant colours which we found in the first game unlike Jak II and III. Although that's not saying those wouldn't be nice to see in a sequel to it since those games were just as good.
If they wanted, they could change the ending so they never go into the future. What would happen that never went through the portal and that storyline was overwritten by something else. Kor's Metal Head army still could come through the Gate when they activate it but what if the gang end up staying behind and we battle Kor along with his army in future games. Who knows, but that's the best thing about the reboot-retelling concept, you can have absolute fun with it and not worry about harming the old games.
If they wanted though they could still go with Jak 4, a direct sequel (hopefully they ignore Lost Frontier as non canon) if it's revealed that Jak wasn't just named after the ancient hero Mar but was actually Mar himself.
It's said that Kor chased Mar through "space and time for eons" and a time travelling concept would be great for a new trilogy, battling the returning Kor (or his past self anyway) in different time periods as you try to hide the very last precursor egg like what Mar was supposed to have done until in Jak 6 when you are seen establishing Haven City to protect it and create safe haven for people against Kor. It would really close the loop on the whole story and it would be great to see Jak get older in the new trilogy. It's also said Mars vanished before he could kill Kor, he didn't actually die. It's said
"He disappeared before he could use his weapon powered by the Precursor Stone against Metal Kor and the Metal Head race. He was believed to be buried in the Tomb of Mar along with the last Precursor Stone"
So what about as Jak/Mar is about to kill Kor he's transported back to the present. Kor continues his siege against the city with Mar gone and is finally killed by a past version of Jak which arrives in Jak II. This would finally close the entire arc.
It's exciting.
TLoU directors have expressed their frustration about the changes Jak 2 went through. I personally liked that game even tho it was kinda hard to get into, but I tolerated it until i grew with it. Now Jak 3 was amazing.
Imo they should start rebooting the series with Jak II and remake it like R&C.
Would be a dream if games like Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro come back for PS4.
What I said in the comments section of another Ratchet and Clank article the other day.
