Gamespot:
Gunshots make a very particular sound in a desolate city. The noise ricochetes off buildings, echos down alleyways, seems to come from every direction at once. It means danger could come from anywhere at any time, but it also means there's more work to do. So when I step out of a safehouse and steel my nerves, I also grin, just a little. This is the world of The Division, an online, loot-driven RPG cleverly disguised as a third-person shooter, set in the grim aftermath of a biological attack on New York City.

TIM WHITE WRITES: "Multiplayer or single player? Developers, you can do both, just not willy-nilly."
I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.
Multiplayer or even co-op
If it was always a single player game then that's how it is
It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.
I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMMM. Something is really wrong here. HMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!
About 12/13 hours in, game has become rather repetitive, PvE driven content is dull, PvP content can either be tough and fast paced or just repeatedly get stomped on. The story tries to deliver a realistic modern apocalypse however the bullet sponge enemies really ruin the atmosphere. Not exactly worth retail value, I personally regret my purchase at launch.
i wish there was a free Trial for this :( , missed the open beta and i don't want to waste my money on this since i hate MMOs
I think the review is nearly spot on. It's such a beautifully crafted world and the missions feel engaging. Enemies might be a little predictable but it doesn't really detract too much from the solid tactical co-op experience there is to be had.
My only real gripe is the DZ. Going rogue is far too punishing to the point where outside of having fun, there's very little advantage to be had from it which turns the only real pvp mode into a pve grindfest.
Playing it with friends is a 10 for me, while playing it solo is an 8 or a 9.
