Now that Phil Spencer has revealed an Xbox One Plus is coming I think many potential XBO buyers will hold off making a purchase until E3 in June to see if that Is when it's revealed.

I imagine anybody buying the current model will be disappointed if days later a spec-bump version is released. I definitely want to get one but will wait for the newer model.

Well, the NPD group stated that the industry is worth 99.3 billion. There are a lot of people involved, down to the consumers and its interesting to get information on the market we have all invested in. And since there is so much money involved, it most certainly is newsworthy. And even though the revenue is down YoY, I helped to contribute to some of the figures on the charts and I take pride in that. :)

Same happened to me. Shortly after everyone got 10 bubbles I had lost 4 bubbles out of nowhere one day even though none of my comments were marked negatively for me to have lost any bubbles at the time so I had to send out a ticket to get my bubbles back. It was supposedly a "glitch" in the system.. I strongly doubt it. If the NX is only marginally more powerful than the PS4 and costs under $300 it'd still have a tough road to surpassing the abysmal Wii U numbers, especially with news that Nintendo is still as clueless as ever about the importance of third party support.

1. Two to three years late to the generation.

2. Not likely to be significantly more powerful than the PS4.

3. Severe lack of 3rd party support.

I shudder to think what MS would have turned gaming into if they had the leverage to bully their ideas through this gen. You think about that before you disagree with me, look at all the things they tried and are still trying, things that we all agree now we are better without and imagine where would be be now if they were allowed to run unchecked. Glad console gaming is so health now and Sony is a massive part of that.

Looking forward, the only thing I can see bringing Sony down is if PSVR bombs and it drags PS4 down with it. I dont see it happening as long as they arent over extending themselves like they did with Cell but VR could still bomb. I doubt that could effect PS4 too much except by association.

It isn't really shocking news at this point. PS4 has cemented their hold on sales this gen and there's not much the Xbox brand can do about that except continue to try to stay competitive and do what they're doing, keeping the current users happy. That's about it.

The improvements made when upgrading from the PS3 to the PS4 from having the PS3 for 5 years is amazing

*Everything installs and downloads faster
*The controller is so much better
*The online is better and smoothers
*Obviously the graphical power is better
*Games getting released more frequently early on in the console life compared to PS3
*Quieter than PS3
*Can put your system to sleep while never quitting your current game
*Japan fully supporting it with full force almost exclusively home console wise instead of splitting the budget between games for Xbox and PS at the same time.

The PS4 is simply an amazing console and I was blown away when I first got mines. I've never even played a Wii U or Xbone lol. The Wii U seems ancient as hell compared to my PS4.

Now having said my congratulations, I want to say keep fighting XB1!! I love you even a bit more...though with Ratchet coming soon...ugh - LOL. I stil think you are an excellent system. I appreciate the games you bring (talking console here i.e., leaving PCout of this) that can't be found on PS4 or Nintendo. I hope you keep on fighting! I, for one, don't want to see you fail. You keep things interesting. You help push your competitors from your very existence. You've made mistakes galore, but you seem willing to learn from those mistakes. You've basically jettisoned the Kinect and focused more on games. Sony and fans certainly forced that revelation, but message received. Your Kinect turned out to be a novelty, but that novelty, along with the Wii, made the industry behemoth try with Playstation Move...it died faster than the Kinect. XB1 Kinect had/has some truly neat ideas -albeit more for use than for games, but hey you attempted innovation. Some still very much love those Kinect functions on their XB1. Now Sony is busy with Morpheus and you are attempting a slightly different angle in Hololens, here's hoping for more unique cool experiences.
You see at the end of the day, a coupl things need to be realized. One, competition is VERY good. It breeds all these new ideas in terms of experiences video games bring. And two, software. We want great games. We like innovative games. We like new experiences from either new franchises/IPs or in the evolution with new iterations from our beloved established franchises.
Congratulations Sony PS4. You are clearly the deserved leader in console sales. But thank you Xbox One too. Please keep working hard and finding your own path and giving Sony and the PS4 a reason to never become complacent.

Thats what they need to do more of. XB always seems afraid of being in Playstatons shadow. Blaze you own trail and stop worrying so much about what Sony are doing. XB could have its own attitude and flavour if they just believed it themselves but it still feels like theyre just swimming in someone elses pool.

Thank you. I just love video games and just wish every one could just PURELY love all systems and what they bring to the gaming world. I have some good memories even with the Atari Jaguar, mostly in the form of hilarity, but even it had a couple gems. This bashing and hate filled talk about another system is truly sad. XB1 trash? Really. Sad. If you can't afford all systems, I understand that. But find a friend and hang at their place and enjoy the great games you can't own yourself. The XB1 and Wii U are hardly crap because they haven't or won't sell anywhere the numbers of PS4. Sometimes I got the feeling everyone on this page either has Sony or Microsoft stocks, looking on how invested people are on those unimportant numbers.

I just find strange that when last gen the xbox 360 was winning the NPD, everyone was celebrating and trash talking the PS3.

But now that the PS4 is winning, some people say "don't be a child, you don't ha e stock on Sony, this is ridiculous, this is not important and bla bla bla"

So, it was OK to celebrate when the xbox 360 was winning but now people can't celebrate because is the PS4 who is winning? Crazy.

As a gamer I believe that its great when people celebrate the success of a system. But those same people have to be respectful when said system doesn't perform well.

People really should just accept the current sales trends. But they have every right to enjoy the less popular system. There's nothing wrong with having fun with a Wii U or XB1.

I hate articles like this, they only incite hate and create a divide between gamers. I have an Xbox One and PS4 and can see that both consoles have their unique selling points. I am a gamer, so I game on everything and don't feel the need to pretend I'm superior to someone because they play a console different than mine.

Congrats to sony.if ms didn't have idiots in charge of the xbox one and made those silly DRM demands it wouldve been 360 vs ps3 all over again and only a few of us know what happened then.

actually i don't think so, the ps3 clearly left behind many innovative and influential titles like the last of us (300+ GOTYs earned, thus becoming the most award winning game of all time, it influenced the gameplay of revelations 2, the evil within, etc), heavy rain (the game that popularized the choice based game genre that was later adopted by telltale games, life is strange, until dawn, etc), uncharted (it was inspired by tomb raider and then the tomb raider reboot and its sequel were inspired by uncharted), etc... so after so many critical acclaimed titles that's what helped the ps3 to gather more sales and thus eventually selling more worldwide than the x360 (vgchartz.com), so the only reason why the ps3 didn't had a good launch was because it was too expensive and was released a year later then the x360, but the way it managed to beat x360 sales eventually its really surprising, not to mention the ps1 and ps2 where the best selling ones from their generation so the brand success also helps

Like I've always said if the ps3 would have came out the same time the 360 did we would be seeing the exact same thing we are seeing now. PlayStation has always been on top and sony is.destroying the competition. Ps4 is continuing where ps3 left off last gen.

that's not true at all, look at the VG numbers: vgchartz.com
ps3 = 11.539 sold worldwide this week, x360 = 8.177 sold, and only 3 sold in japan this week LOL japan is a great market, and xbox was never successful in there, the xbox one is a total failure on sales in there.
and on europe: 4.266 ps3 sold against 1.652 x360 sold this week, so no uk isn't better than the whole european market at all.

as of next gen this week: the ps4 sold 304.133 worldwide, meanwhile xone only sold 108.750, and again it only sold 329 in japan against the 31.740 ps4s sold in that same period of time.

and only by looking at the charts you can clearly see that 95% of games sells better on ps4 than on xone due to 37 millions ps4 sold worldwide against only 19 millions xone sold worldwide...

Yea and other people prefer an Xbox one over a PS4, what is your point? PS4 is not dominating in the UK or America, the markets that Xbox 360 destroyed the PS3. Microsoft is focused on those markets, but you sony fanboys can keep dreaming of PS4 dominating the console market LOL! The Xbox One hasn't even started dropping the games yet. Microsoft got tons of AAA games coming this gen, that will never see the light of day on a PS4. That is what makes the Xbox One the best.

Games like Gears of War 4, Quantum Break, Recore, Scalebound, Crackdown, and many more to come will never come to PS4, and that is why Xbox One is the best.

That's great you like Xbox One. I would hardly say I was being fanboyish at all. However, I think I made the right choice instead of waiting two years and three+ months for the game console I bought to have games (you said Xbox One "hasn't even started dropping the games yet"). You're a bigger fanboy than I because I wouldn't waste my time waiting that long just so I could be happy about my purchase.

pc is the best? how? that depends on opinions too, if pc was so perfect then why the console market is still really huge and the ps4 sold even faster than the ps2 at launch? and the ps2 sold 100 millions units more than its competition the original xbox and the gamecube, and the ps2 became the best selling console of all time because of that.

pc isn't the best and it isn't the worst either, again that depends on opinions, personally i don't like playing on pc because i don't like having to worry about system requirements and having to buy new hardware for it every now and then to make newer games run properly for it... right now i can't play any 2016 game in my pc because it can't handle the graphics, and i have my 2013's ps4 who can do that and it will still be able to play 2020 games without having to buy new "graphic cards" or any other stuff for it.

also the last of us has become the most award winning game of all time with nearly 300 GOTYs earned, pc doesn't have any exclusive that even comes close to that so no, the perfect gaming platform doesn't exist and that's why people keep buying other gaming platforms instead.

I can not tell you how many times vgchartz numbers were almost always undertracked for Xbox 360 when npd numbers came in.

And no the outcome for PS3 would have still been the same even if they launched with Xbox 360. Sony shot themselves in the foot with a $600 price tag.

Microsoft got cocky and released Xbox One at $500 that is the only reason they are so far behind. They aren't behind because of DRM, or 900p games.
Xbox One is behind because of a $500 launch price and lack of marketing.
Microsoft marketed the heck out of Xbox 360.

I still think they can catch the PS4.
All Microsoft have to do is:

1. Redesign the Xbox One make the box smaller and more appealing to the eyes.

2. Market the heck out of it.

They already reduce the price to match PS4. Sony is super afraid of Microsoft. How do I know? When the PS4 was ahead Sony dropped the price of the PS4. If Sony was so confident in the PS4, why drop the price? The PS4 Should still be $400, more money for Sony to invest in more exclusives. As soon as Microsoft dropped to $350, Sony jumped. That is fear. LOL!

Sony announces sales figures on a regular basis which is why they are not blown out of proportion. However with Microsoft we don't really know how much they sold due to a lack of announces. So in Microsofts case all we have are estimations.

Even at an inferior price and with a ton of marketing plus the greatest lineup in gaming history they were not able to outsell the PS4.

20 million gap? Keep dreaming fanboy. The gap is more like 10 or 12 tops the Xbox one is more like 25m to ps4 35m. The Xbox One is behind the Ps4 by 2m in North America and UK. So Xbox one looks to overtake PS4 in those markets again like last gen. Xbox 360 destroyed PS3 in America by more than 15m last gen. Xbox One is on track to overtake PS4 in the America and UK again.

With a redesign and better marketing Microsoft can close the gap by 5m in 3 years. And Sony end up selling 5m more than Xbox one so the numbers by 2018 will end up Xbox one 55m, PS4 60-62 tops, again by 2018. Wow real domination there big whoop! Looks like 2 successful consoles to me.

Plus I choose Xbox because of content not how much it sells. I choose Xbox before Xbox 360 was a smashing success because of content.

I can't play:

1. Gears of war 4
2. Quantum Break
3. Recore
4. Crackdown
5. Scalebound

and many more AAA titles coming only to Xbox One and never coming to PS4.

So Sony can sell as much as they can.

Hell if everyone could, they'd probably buy both. The problem is not many people want to shell out hundreds of dollars for even one console. So I don't know about you, but I usually agonize over the choices, do research, and try to figure out which one is going to be best for me. Once I have taken in many different factors into account, I purchase the console I think I'll enjoy. Sound like you? Sounds like almost everyone, doesn't it? What I am saying is that the content, games on PS4 don't appeal to me.
