How Nintendo Should Launch the Nintendo NX

Nintendo are gearing up for a huge year, surely their biggest in the last decade; with the Wii U not selling as Nintendo wished and while the 3DS is selling a fair amount but nothing close to the original DS; Nintendo have it all to do.

1. sell it for $299 and be as powerful as the ps4.

2. make it region free.

3. keep online multiplayer free.

4. launch the system with zelda and a brand new 3d mario game.

5. every 3 months have a aaa exclusive game come out either by nintendo or a third party publisher or partners with nintendo.

6. have the system launch with a standard controller.

7. make sure all major publishers support it and make it easy to port games like the new call of duty, assassins creed ect.

wonderfulmonkeyman2968d ago (Edited 2968d ago )

#1 That is an outrageously ridiculous demand.
No one, not even Sony, would be able to sell a system more powerful than the PS4 for less than $500, and you want Nintendo to do it for nearly half that cost?

Be sensible, please. That's just impossible.

#2 Yes. Not essential, but it would definitely be a HUGE help for the system.

#3 YES. ALL OF MY YES.
Online multiplayer should always be free.

#4 Expecting a bit too much on that front, since Zelda U should be releasing before the NX does and it would take a bit of time to make another one specifically for the NX launch, but a new Mario would be great.

#5 Again, might be asking a bit much, there. It would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it, after how third parties treated Nintendo the past three gens.

#6 I'd be fine with that, but only if it also has BC with the Wii U so that I can continue using the game pad.
Otherwise, I want something different again, even if it's smaller.
If I want a boring controller, I'll go back to playing on my PS3; I appreciate new and different ways of playing that still incorporate all the familiar functions of a standard controller.

#7 Rather than that, I would prefer that Nintendo start requiring third parties to bring out the newest of their games, with full content parity.

We've had enough of half-assed old ports thanks to the Wii U; I want third parties to do something other than ports that have no differentiating factors.
If they want to sell big on NX, they need to give those Nintendo versions of their multiplats something different to set them apart, something that will draw gamers to said games.

A lot of those that don't like Nintendo may disagree with me on this, but it's a fact that without some sort of priority or exclusive content, no one outside of Nintendo fans will get an NX for third party multiplats.
Nintendo needs to take that step and demand that third parties do something to draw people to their games on the system, even if third party lovers that hate Nintendo don't like the idea of a Nintendo version getting content the others don't.

"#1 That is an outrageously ridiculous demand.
No one, not even Sony, would be able to sell a system more powerful than the PS4 for less than $500"

the ps4 is currently $350, by the time the nx comes out it could be $299. what are you talking about? i also said as powerful, not more powerful.

"#4 Expecting a bit too much on that front, since Zelda U should be releasing before the NX does and it would take a bit of time to make another one specifically for the NX launch, but a new Mario would be great."

personally i think they will do a simultaneous launch like they did with the last one. i have a feeling even star fox is getting the nx treatment. nintendo knows the wii u is failing so they will allocate all resources to the new console.

"#5 Again, might be asking a bit much, there. It would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it, after how third parties treated Nintendo the past three gens."

they need a steady flow of titles. something that has burdened them for years is getting decent content throughout the year. they know it.

"#6 I'd be fine with that, but only if it also has BC with the Wii U so that I can continue using the game pad."

that's fine but i want a standard controller, not costs to rise because of a gimmick that is forced.

"Nintendo needs to take that step and demand that third parties do something to draw people to their games on the system"

they will lead with first party and hopefull;y everything else will come into place. trouble for them is once again they are releasing it midcycle to the others who already have an established userbase. nintendo should strive to be more than a supplementary console to the ps4 or xbox one or pc.

1. Make Gaming Great Again

2. Make Gaming Fun Again

3. Make Gaming Sexy Again

4. 1080p 60fps

5. 4K/3D/VR with supplemental computing device

6. The Easier Console to make games for developers, developers, developers.

7. Xenoblade X NX Graphics Upgrade, Realistic Graphics, Realistic Day-Night Cycles.

8. Bigger, Better, Funnier Splatoon NX

9. NX Console $199/$259

10. NX supplemental computing device/external gpu
R9 380 $199 (Higher Graphics Option)
R9 390 $299
R9 390X $399
R9 Fury Nano $499 (Sharper + Higher Graphics Option)

It's actually quite wise for Nintendo to call it supplemental to avoid confusion.

Launch with a new 3D Mario game that is more SM64 type and less galaxy/3D world (Big and mysterious hub but closed off levels for lots of platforming and wall jumping opportunities) and have it be lush and atmospheric by making it not just a graphical showcase for the system, but raises the bar of 3D game presentation for the entire generation. Also give the levels rich and varied tone (even SM64 gave you a spook during the haunted house levels/3rd bowser battle level) http://www.superluigibros.c...
http://www.hanging-waters.c...

RosweeSon2968d ago

I always hear this but galaxy is pretty much the same as SM64, they both have hub worlds you explore to find the levels and they both play the same sure it's on a Wii remote but Mario moves and controls pretty much exactly the same. Ie perfect the Mario Galaxy games are timeless classics I personally prefer 1 but 2 still great and happily would play a number 3 they are like the modern day Sm64 can't keep going back to castle everytime but as I've actually played both properly or 120 stars etc Mario Galaxy one is a classic sure it's different learning to go round planets but stick with it like any other Mario platformers requires practice to get better not patience as its not gimped or botched in anyway just needs some taking used to, crazy I know but it's not been done in other games of course it's gonna take some getting used to but yeah think Mario 64 and Galaxy 1 are very similar in their ways except for the obvious ones set in the castle on is in the Galaxy ;)

HomeofGaming2968d ago

Iwata before he sadly passed did say that he wants Nintendo to have a steady flow of titles, so that there isn't long gaps between games like there is with the Wii U and 3DS!

I cant wait for the switch personally :)

Agheil2723d ago

Haha I'm sure there are a lot who feel the same

XisThatKid2722d ago

My only reason... Smash bros. What? They're porting over Sm4sh from Wii U since they make smash sequels after 5 years and it's only been 2?......ok nvm I think I'll wait until switch 2(?)

fiveby92721d ago

I am very interested in the Switch. I will seriously consider purchasing one.

bananasrule2723d ago

That one reason people dont mention as much because we're all to focused on power at the moment ...

Agheil2723d ago

Ok, I get your point but power is something you need along with good games. Gamers that focus so much on power are fanboys trying to outdo the other side hahah

wonderfulmonkeyman2723d ago

To wit; "Get it if your friends are getting it, so you can play with your friends."
As good a reason as any; Mario Kart is a blast, as will be many of the other games that hit the Switch. Sharing that love of games with buddies is a good thing that goes beyond loyalties to a brand.
It's because of my best friend that I got a PS2 and 3 for games like Ar Tonelico, Borderlands, and Kingdom Hearts, so I can personally testify to it being a good reason to open up to a console.

But I don't really agree with the bit after that...
I know the guy in the vid says this vid isn't for multi-console owners, but IMO, if someone has a job that can support saving up over several months for any console at all, especially ones that are more expensive, then there's no reason they can't include the Switch in that mindset.

Just keep an eye out on the exclusives and other games that come to it, and if you see at least three that you would have fun playing, then tell your buddies you're getting one.
They might get one too, and you can share the love of the games on it.

Don't let quibbling little b****-fit details like specs stop you from getting a system.
I got the PS2 despite it being weaker than the Gamecube, and I didn't regret it at all.

I know that not everyone is at the point where they can easily get more than one console, but there are Christmas's and Birthdays every year. Lean upon those that would pay attention to your wish lists.XD
You don't have to be rich to afford more than one console, and you'll be a much more well-rounded gamer for it.

Agheil2723d ago

He was just saying that because people who have enough money to get all the console don't have to choose. He wasn't saying they shouldn't consider a switch.

ps360s2722d ago

excited...never been excited since the N64 :D

Only wished the dock had a drive so I can play Xenoblade :( (bought it after I gave my wiiU away) and it's still sealed lol, hoping the NX would be backwards but oh well downloadable it is then :D

Agheil2722d ago

I don't think it will be backwards compatible. Even digitally because of the small size of the internal HD that's been rumoured.

Left & right plunger con...wink
Another great video..I think if chris would see this you see maybe even Chris could change his mind, you would wonder maybe have a different opinion on practically vs visual aesthetics.
https://youtu.be/sr8SbLgHkz...

That was 2015..I think if you get hands on I think the functionality over visual aesthetics I think Nintendo's Switch has such in spades..

Example: if you take a look at the Nintendo Switch and Nvidia's shield design.

https://www2.nvidia.com/en-...

As you can see by having the controller being able to be removed off the tablet allows you to use the Switch's kickstand tablet feature like such but when you take it with you, where do you put a off the sides controller? Of course you have to carry the external controller like a MOGA Pro in a bag etc...but with switch's design your system allows you to take your controller attached to the system and use it like a Archos Game pad or a wikipad.

http://www.wikipad.com

Or Archos Game pad 2

https://youtu.be/4x6yvQZDVL...

If you take both designs the ability to take the controller off the sides vs non removable game controller game tablet design than its I think it is more of a practical design to set up on a desk and play it like a normal tablet with physical external controller used with a tablet system to game.

Holding your game tablet like a handheld for gaming could get heavy, but setting it on a hard surface and just play anywhere I think the concept of switch is very viable on not just to Mobile to TV , but include a mobile portable living room game console experience anywhere , table or floors does not matter, with a multiplayer esk control setup one controller per side ,with any other person do not happen to have a controller for Multi-Player here a mini full controller for Multi-Player mario Kart.. Bulky external controllers take up more space..this way you can carry two separate controllers.. Joy cons are small enough & able to be two separate or combined to connect to make one single controller on a external controller.

Switch is more so on variable functionality over visual aesthetics in my opinion..the visual aesthetics can come later for colors and design additional artwork.

Again great video.

@joeorc Thanks for the info! I'll definitely pass it a long to Chris! Thanks again for checking out our videos! Really glad you're enjoying them. If you have any suggestions, just let us know. We are always trying to improve!

neolego2727d ago

Joeorc, first let me applaud you for taking the time to research and provide links to support your thoughts. Since you put so much effort in, I have looked at each of the links. Well done.

I will say that I don't agree with you. What I was saying, and still stand by, is that I think the system is ugly. That's not to say that it isn't practical or useful. In fact, I would probably agree most with the idea of long sessions with the machine on a kickstand. I play games on my iPad where isn't on a stand and I'm just using touch, but if I had to try and use controllers while in that same position, it would be undesireable. I think Nintendo knows that as well, and like you said, are much more concerted with practicality in design rather than cosmetics in design.

I will, once again, say that I will buy the Switch on day one (if they have cloud saves) no matter what it looks like. Also, until any of us go hands on, it's hard to know just how good (or bad) the system looks and how convenient that it is. What we do know is that Nintendo has a track record of releasing very well made and functioning hardware, so until they prove otherwise, the Switch shouldn't be any different.

Thanks again or your feedback. We love to see the community get involved. Also, thanks for watching....and done worry, my many, many other issues with Switch will be discussed isn't he coming weeks! :)

-Chris

joeorc2727d ago

Thank you both for your great responses and I think Nintendo is growing it's Adoption of new network and really is embracing the concepts that Microsoft & Sony have invested into for a more unified network gaming structure ..well I have high hopes that it is.
