Telltale Games has returned to the franchise that put them in the forefront of story-driven adventures games with The Walking Dead: Michonne. The first season of The Walking Dead put a spotlight of sorts on the developer and they’ve had their share of hits (Tales From The Borderlands, The Wolf Among Us) and misses (Minecraft: Story Mode) since then. Episode One, entitled “In Too Deep,” shows promise that Michonne could end up being another solid entry in their lineup. Unfortunately, the story setup in Michonne’s first episode is awfully familiar to previous seasons of The Walking Dead and because of this, “In Too Deep” doesn’t approach the greatness seen in previous Season One or even Season Two episodes of the series.
Each week Sony brings PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable owners new content, add-ons, games and more with the PlayStation Store Update.
Michonne is one of the more interesting characters to grace The Walking Dead and no, not just because she’s the chick with the sword. Her back story is one of personal tragedy and the first episode of Telltale’s latest miniseries shows us this in much more detail. As with the first two game seasons, The Walking Dead: Michonne takes place within the confines of the graphic novel’s universe rather than that of the TV show. Specifically taking place between issues 126 and 139 during which our titular character leaves Rick Grimes and his group.
Sirus Gaming: Ultimately, the first two episodes of the series was a really great ride for me. Only one more episode to go, and that’s another great game on my “things to recommend to other people to play because it’s gold and is just simply great”.
