I really like the innovation, but how many people have a white wide open table to play this on? I am sure it has to be a bright table, i for one do not have a spot for ps3 and camera for a wide open table unless i play in the dining area on the kitchen table.

But they are definitely doing somethings that are interesting with the interactions. I like how both camps are using the camera's for the interactive features like The Movie Maker for the 360.

What would totally make my head explode into a trillion pieces is if Sony decided to add a collector feature to this game. Kind of like Pokemon.

Have online lobbies where pets can compete against other pets. Certain modes will utilize the player's creative ability to draw and make objects/tools for the pet to use to achieve objectives. What about sports games, etc?

There should also be casual lobbies where players can just have fun together, share created objects, sell customized pets, etc.

Really, the sky's not even the limit. In fact, every single game/software/service is not limited to any set rules. The only limitation is their creators' lack of creativity or risk-taking with innovation.

Coming into this current generation, I was super hyped by Phil Harrison's Game 3.0 speech. But so far only Home, LBP, Spore, and EyePet have scratched the surface of what video games should be moving towards. Even hardcore games have so much more they could do to add replay value.

Take for example Driver. It came out for the PS1 with replay Director Mode. My brothers and I spent years editing replays in Director Mode long after we had completed the game. Two console generations later, and how many games have implemented a similar mode?

There's just so much that could be done if every developer utilized their creative mindsets more often.

Imagine if Sony added an adventure mode with this game.

You go through fields(or whatever) interacting with your surroundings. Your main objective is to find and collect as many pets as you can... unlocking more/hidden pets and extra customization options.

If they want to take it a step further, add online co-op for adventure mode. O_O

This game could blow Pokemon out of this universe! Imagine how crazy this game could get!! >_<

It could be if Sony advertised it well enough. By the time the game comes out I think the PS3 will be cheaper by like 100 bucks, so I think it could do well. As of now MGS4 is the biggest console seller for the PS3.

Depends how Sony market it really, I still think the PS3 is a little too high a price to buy a child for themselves.

I showed it to my sister and she instantly ran to my mum asking for a PS3 for chirstmas with that game lol, but obviosly she would not have known it exsisted untill i showed it to her.

True, it might be a bold claim, maybe exaggerated. But this has mass appeal. Kids will love it, parents interested and intrigued by the "tech", totally family friendly. Little Jack isn't going to stab someone after a few hours playtime on this.

Also the Asian market, where owning a "real" animal isnt as easy as you might think. Space, financial cost and I believe even restrictions in some areas. Ninten-dogs, tamagotchi's etc this is merely taking that idea one step further.

I might be blowing this totally out of proportion. But with a good marketing effort I see this doing really well. Hell why not add a Spore aspect to it, allowing players to create and form their own pet... or robot... or space marine... see where I'm going? It's early days, I see the idea evolving a lot.

We only seen a trailer, and haven't learn much about this game yet. We currently only seen one "pet" so far. There is a lot of details that isn't release for this game yet, and I wouldn't be surprise if many of those features you describe make it or are already in the game. Think about it. Sony London Studio currently have 250 Members, and they are currently working on HOME and EyePets.

Lets say the are using 150 Members to develop HOME. that leave the other 100 to work on this project. There is a lot of things they can add to this game with that many people working on it

Everyone should have an eye! The mic is birlliant and beats using a headset hands down! I use it constantly in Home beta - saves the tedious typing. Its also excellent to have video conferences with your mates - and the qulaity in good light is excellent.

The way to make this work is to make it more than just a novelty idea.

Make the kids have to feed the creature to keep it healthy, and pet it play with it to make it happy. Make it more like a real pet then just something neat on the PS3.

It would also be nice to see it grow over time and learn tricks, perk up when its owner shows up.

It will probably suffer neglect and die of starvation over time, but hey, you don't have to really bury it.

Playstation fan (as you can tell by many a comment i make on this site), but i'm looking forward to Banjo and Kazooie myself. if anything to see how the gameplay works out (i love being able to create things, hence why games like Little Big Planet appeal to me).

if a concept looks good, regardless of platform, credit should be given where credit is due.

it just so happens that this concept is rather intriguing, and the Pet is very adorable. it invokes a positive response from those that see it. even if it DIDN'T have a Playstation 3, or Sony logo attached to it, i'm convinced it would still get that positive response. it's just a cute creature in the same vein as anything from Pixar. except you can interact with it.

thank God they didn't copy the Wiimote and innovated with the EyeToy instead. There's just as much (if not more) potential with the EyeToy as there is with the Wiimote, so they should just keep making titles like this with the EyeToy and avoid copying.

Actually the other day when we discussed the Sony announcement wishlist, I asked for some good Eyetoy games since I would probably get one for LBP.

well i think this looks like an amazing game.

great motion sensing
the drawing tech

but i think it would be cool if there were several different kinds of pets so that there is more variation. and you could have to interacting with each other.

They should of implemented this via Firmware update into the PS3 system as a WHOLE. So you can grow your pet with your Trophy Collection or by doing mini-game activies with it. Also it will alwasy run around your XMB when out of game. Like Digi-pets but more advanced and on the PS3.

Obviously if you have an Eye-toy you can interact directly with it and do additional things, but making it a real part of the system, built-in, would be a much better approach.

And people that keep saying that Nintendo was the first people to do a pets game thats a lie Nintendogz was not the first pets game on a console or Hand held.

Back when i was 12 there was a game on the PC called Catz and Dogz where u could look after ur pet on ur computer in a house and u had a garden it could play around in they could full in love with another pet and have babys and they grew old u could feed them paint them and do what ever and u could let ur pet walk around on ur desktop when ur useing word or the internet.

I'm gonna draw a house for it lol.

Like i said before Nintendo didn't make up the Nintendogz game they copyed there idea from a very old PC game game called Catz and Dogz. which i use to have for my PC when i was 12 I'm 23 now by the way.
