The Three Worst Things About The Division Open Beta

Pixelgate writes:

''After taking some time to reflect on The Division’s Open Beta, and highlighting the best bits, looking at the other end of the scale only seems fair. For all the positives and fun the Beta supplied, there’s a few things that produce a few questions. These are the three worst things about The Division Open Beta''

Lets hope they sort out the AI and the enemy low count before launch.

I really dont like how many enemies charge in taking tons of bullets and they have Zero Reaction. It feels stupid.

xPhearR3dx3407d ago

Well, it's an RPG first, shooter second, so them taking tons of bullets wont change. They did increase the AI in the dark zone quite a bit, I just hope the PVE areas have more AI. Sometimes I'll run for quite some time and see no one. Granted, it was a beta and pretty limited, but still.

PixelGateUk3407d ago

unless you crack out the class carbines 2 hit kills all around!

sprinterboy3407d ago

I didnt really notice the dz increase enemy count tbh

UKmilitia3407d ago

i had a scar that was about 3000dps and it was only a few bullets.
i would say i could kill 3-4 with a round, only the orange and purple took a bit more.

sprinterboy3407d ago

Purples were fine,it was the yellows (orange?) for me

Pongwater3407d ago (Edited 3407d ago )

It's funny to me that so many people complain about bullet sponging but I see no mention of instant healing, area healing, carrying huge amounts of gear around in a medium sized backpack, carrying 6 pieces of potentially large gear around in a medium sized fanny pack, a helicopter that can extract your loot but can't provide any sort of air cover…

It's a game. It has many unrealistic elements, as nearly all games do. You don't like an element we've all known about for a long time. Ok.

The only thing I can agree with you about is the enemy count. I hope there are more and I hope their locations are a bit more random in the final game.

The AI was sometimes good and sometimes mediocre, but I didn't have a huge problem with it. I like charging enemies as long as it's certain enemy types, which it is. There are also enemies that hang back and stay in cover.

SSTXX3407d ago

Exactly, people keep complaining about bullet sponging, it is like every game they played was so realistic in a sense that they can't play any other unrealistic RPG games -_-

Lord_Sloth3406d ago (Edited 3406d ago )

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but....Carrying capacity doesn't effect the combat (the core aspect of the game) the same way as Bullet sponging.

EyeAmTJ3406d ago

Hmmmm, I guess u never played an RPG game before thats how they all are when u shoot enemies

Meishpizza3406d ago

I don't agree with the people complaining about the AI honestly think it's pretty cool and pretty aggressive.... As to the AI count Ubisoft has stated they will increase the amount of enemies and NPCs for the final build... I hope the amount of buildings we can go into will be uped like in the beta area but I doubt this.

I got to agree with all three points, hopefully they will be improved in the final version. never stopped my enjoyment of the game though which is good

Artemidorus3407d ago

It's a basic shooter with rpg elements. Make it a free to play game and charge for weapons etc

Goldby3407d ago

worst idea in the world, why would you want to make the a pay to win game. cuz thats what would happen, 12 years olds who have their daddy's credit card will rack up about a 18000$ doing that, then tell their parents they didnt know any better, parents wont punish kid, demand refund from company and act liek nothing happend. at least thats what ahppened with an 18yr old and fifa

Artemidorus3407d ago

Because it's so basic it should be. They will demand full retail plus no doubt a season pass and only a blind fanboy will perform such actions.

I suggest people up their parenting skills you have no excuses being the person they look up to.

Goldby3407d ago

have you played the full game release, including the stuff they havent talked about? Destiny is also a very basic shooter, should that be free as well? what about CoD?

becuase something to you looks basic, or even if one aspect may seem basic doesn't mean it isn't worth 60$ (in my case 80$)

Bloodborne is a basic hack and slash, all built around timing, does that mean it should be 60 as well?

Free-to play only works if things are unlockable in game without $, but for every 1 person who unlocks if via actual game play, 10x the people pay for it. would you want to be level 10 with a decent weapon and have someone pay for everything, weapon, armor , mods, perks, talents, skills? that doesn't seem very fair and would destroy the game.

Pongwater3407d ago

"Make it a free to play game and charge for weapons etc"

Mind : Boggled.

Artemidorus3407d ago

Freedom to own the game but premium on items and growth it's not hard to come up with ideas.

sprinterboy3407d ago

F2p WHAT ? Good one, real gameplay dz balancing right there/s

INMATEofARKHAM3407d ago

I think the problem with the AI might be the modern MMO/RPG elements like Argo and what not... They seem to move when they want to target someone else. (I mostly talking about the first mission on hard and the second mission 8n general.)

Still think the worst thing about the beta is it being over...

Pongwater3407d ago

"Still think the worst thing about the beta is it being over…"

Exactly what I was going to say.

I am in absolute agreement with the OP 👌

shinoff2183807d ago

I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.

-Foxtrot806d ago

Multiplayer or even co-op

If it was always a single player game then that's how it is

Inverno806d ago

It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.

Flawlessmic806d ago

Tbh multilayer now is a way to add live service and mtx elements, very rarely does it come of well.

What single players game used to be in a lot of cases now require 3 other people for keeping to really enjoy it and I hate having to rely on others to get the maximum from a game.

Sp should be sp, if devs want to add a separate multi mode then that's fine with me, the legends addition to ghost of tshushima was fricking sick but totally separate to the main game. Sick of co op too.

Hofstaderman806d ago

I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.

Dagexon806d ago

I didn't notice your comment before I added mine.
But good times indeed
