It better not be Mobile crap, the guy is just too good for it

I would love a Lost Odyssey styled game for the PS4 and Xbox One.

With the right backing the guy could create a "new" Final Fantasy successor and bring it back to Final Fantasy's roots.

I mean they are actually already have that it's called Bravely Default, which bravely default is the spiritual successor of a DS Final Fantasy game.

Embodies most of the older concepts of Final Fantasy regarding 4 turned based Heroes and the classic mythos of crystals

... seriously play Bravely Default.

KentBenMei3399d ago

Bravely Default is okay, leagues above post-FFX Final Fantasy offerings, but still worse than even weaker entries like FF2 or FF3. It is in no way living up to the highs of the series.

Don't blow BD up too much, FF needs a true spiritual successor series.

Kent- you're free to have your opinion as many RPG fans have theirs but the reality is what I'm stating about bravely default in regards to its concept and gameplay style is essentially those older Final Fantasy games you may not like the story or the concept of braving and defaulting but its turn based, has a class system, airships and other concepts surrounding the older titles anything regarding its story quite frank is a matter of opinion but you cannot dispute what it is as a RPG I'm sorry but no other RPGs released have had those exact features from older Final Fantasy games but bravely default.

I'm sorry but what is living to the heights of? When it comes down to subjectivity of story or world or characters or anything like that you might as well never play games if you're merely going to cry about such things.

I may understand sometimes that some people have their favorites but when all the elements from older titles are in a game and its still not enough it basically means you might as well stop gaming, the game you're waiting for legitimately May never actually happen.

For me as a gamer the elements of having a overworld airship turn based class system is actually enough for me to appreciate what it is even if the story isn't something to be compared to other Final Fantasies based on extremist views.

When you talk about not liking something based on it living up to this unreachable expectation you put yourself in the extremist territory in which most people might as well disregard anything you're posting as such a game may never actually exist......like ever.

You've put some of the titles to a pedestal in your mind that is unreachable thus who's really going to honestly listen to what you're saying? You may have loved those final Fantasys that actually doesn't mean everybody feels the exact way about those titles as if for a matter of fact something was fun or not fun it just doesn't make any sense at least have a realistic reason in which you're saying it didn't live up to it other than this vague expectation that doesn't really make sense.

For me Bravely Default >>>> FFIII.

Didn't even need to think about it.

You always seem to go off and rant over a users opinion which then leads to nothing

Smh you have some issues

Should be releasing on NX as well.

bouzebbal3399d ago

We have Dragon Quest and Ninokuni for that..
We don't need a copy paste of FF, we need something new, something catching, but just as magical.
What you are saying is limiting creativity.
Lost Odyssey, The Last Story are a proof that he can deliver great experiences.

Kalkano,

Dragon Quest is the best turn based rpg series ever.

Stealth20k3399d ago

I am going to assume 3DS until we hear otherwise.

It could actually be this if not running on such an engine on PlayStation 4 it could likely be another game.

Not sure if what they're making is using this new engine or if that's a completely separate project.

Stealth20k3399d ago

An article from 2014 means nothing. Remember when Triace showed off there console engine that amounted to nothing?

Silicon has been focused on 3DS for the longest time. It makes sense.

_-EDMIX-_3399d ago

Square also stated that they're seeking to bring bravely default the other platforms.

They also talked about this in 2015 as well bud.

http://www.dualshockers.com...

http://www.gamezone.com/new...

The president of the studio stated that they're not going to be limiting the potential of the franchise to handheld.

Also your statement regarding about focusing on 3ds is just as relevant as them focusing on iOS if not more as I could argue they're likely focus more so on iOS then 3ds if you factor they've worked on mobile more than on 3ds.

I just can't count out that they have a engine they just showed last year running on PlayStation 4 it doesn't even make sense to not factor that, that did actually happen.

Sure it could end up being nothing but its just a moot point this announcement could end up being nothing in the future lol

Stealth20k3399d ago (Edited 3399d ago )

"Square also stated that they're seeking to bring bravely default the other platforms. " They never said this ever. Other than that PC spinoff. Again with the 2014 articles?

They also said they wanted to do more 3DS games, easy to forget that huh? I would actually expect Bravely Third to get announced for 3DS fairly soon.

PS4 is a possibility, it is just not as likely as 3DS.

Again, Tri-ACE did the exact same thing. Just because they have an engine, does not mean they plan on using it.

We have actually seen more often than not engines not used of these Japanese companies than used.

fsdgf3399d ago

The PS4 isn't exactly a runaway success in Japan, so I'd be surprised if they were to make a PS4 focused JRPG for a series that has its existing audience on the 3DS.

Hopefully so, the Bravely games have been absolutely amazing, I would love more handheld JRPGs.

KentBenMei3399d ago

Me too. One of the last good FF style RPGs. Probably THE last for home consoles...

I love how the game keeps getting respect off all these Japanese developers when journalists tried to give off the impression it was maybe a little racist for a Western developer doing a game set in Japan tied to Japanese culture.

Literally the best game of 2020 in my opinion.

Babadook7177d ago (Edited 177d ago )

This is surprising to me only because it doesn't seem like a game he'd make. However this now makes me want to play Ghost of Tsushima. I loved the Infamous games a lot.

Levii_92176d ago

That and Will of the Wisps from 2020 for me.

NotoriousWhiz176d ago

Ff7 remake for me. Overall 2020 was a great year for gaming if not anything else.

This is one of my favorite games of all time also. They crossed all the boxes when they made this game. With a team of 160 people and only cost $60 million. Which compared to SpiderMan 2’s massive inflated cost of $300 million is remarkable.
