Quantum Break Interview: “It’s The Most Ambitious Game We’ve Worked On”

Remedy

"Previous games have been very directly focused on one single idea, Alan Wake for example on a Stephen King type story, and Max Payne is hardboiled cop. Quantum Break is difficult to place like that. We're trying to tell a modern story with the feeling of the best HBO shows, like True Detective and Game of Thrones"

I like True Detectives and i love Game of thrones so bring it on. April 5th :)

DigitalRaptor3410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

The story looks more like something you'd expect to see on Syfy than the glorious quality HBO produces. Neither the narrative or performances look anything close to the quality of either of those 2 shows either. Are they being real here?

christocolus3410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

I don't know about you but I'm quite impressed with the little I've seen of the live tv show and besides this is Remedy, they have never let me down and I absolutely can't wait to play the game.

Kalebninja3410d ago

So we can expect a bunch of sex scenes squeezed in to try and make it sell more?

christocolus3410d ago

I doubt the game will need some squeezed in/clichéd sex scenes to help it sell more.It was rated mature for violence and strong language nothing about nudity....

I hope it will deliver.. we deserve a good Max Payne remake

HansyJ206d ago

We deserve nothing, but the legacy of Max pain deserves it

Cacabunga205d ago

Max Payne fans deserve a good remake. Maybe that is more clear

The_Blue205d ago

' but the legacy of Max pain deserves it"
The Max Payne legacy deserves it.

SoloZelot90205d ago

Okay...so something digital deserves it but something real doesn't?

DarXyde205d ago

I'm not much of a Remedy gamer beyond Alan Wake, but I can't say I've ever heard anyone complain about the quality of the product, whether we like the game or not.

CrimsonWing69206d ago

Um, I’d think that should go without saying… but glad they’re committed to making the quality excellent as opposed to, uh, not.

Gamingsince1981206d ago

Yeah it's kinda weird for them to say that and redundant.

DodoDojo205d ago

Its because they know that they lost trust with the GTA trilogy.

CrimsonWing69205d ago (Edited 205d ago )

I don’t think Remedy had anything to do with that. I get you’re referring to a publisher, but you wouldn’t think a developer would be reassuring people about their game when a different developer made a game that dropped the ball that’s under the same publishing umbrella.

Like, why would From Soft have to assure us that they’re game will be be striving for excellence if Namco Bandai is publishing and they’re referring to something like Unknown 9: Awakening?

This is just a weird statement no matter how you spin it, but also good to know.

jambola206d ago

oh.......thanks
"update, won't suck we hope" lol

VersusDMC206d ago

Well rockstar is paying the bills so they have to project confidence so it isn't cancelled.

What I'm wondering is who is going to voice Max since the og actor died or they are using the old VO like MGS3Remake.

Profchaos206d ago

Rockstar has always had a great relationship with remedy this isn't some new fly by night partnership they have worked together for 20 plus years now

VersusDMC206d ago

Max payne 2 was the last time they worked with rockstar in 2003. And it bombed.

Rockstar asked remedy to check out Max Payne 3 for notes but were not really involved.

So having worked on a project 20 years ago doesn't mean they have been working together for 20 plus years.

swedishMeatwad206d ago

Wow, breaking news! Developer aiming for excellent quality!

SoloZelot90205d ago

Considering some new releases that's good to hear. It is better than aiming for diversity and inclusion.

Remedy is leaving Epic in the dark place to self-publish Control 2

Remedy will self-publish Control 2 as part of a new "strategic cooperation agreement" with Annapurna. A press release accompanying the announcement says Annapurna will provide half of Control 2's development budget, and in return gains the rights to adapt Control and Alan Wake for film and television.

TheNamelessOne290d ago

Devs backing EPIC didn't last long. I just can't understand why ... /s

porkChop290d ago (Edited 290d ago )

This isn't about the store. Epic published the game on all platforms. They want to self publish because they couldn't recoup Alan Wake 2's budget.

Killer2020UK290d ago

...because Epic chose to restrict its PC release to the Epic store and completely restrict it's physical release until later this year.

Vits289d ago

It’s connected, though. They couldn’t recoup the costs because Epic restricted the places and formats where the game could be released, literally removing the biggest PC distribution channels from the equation. And they also sold the game cheaper than a traditional full release, solely to support their statements at the launch of the Epic Games Store that PC games would be cheaper if it weren’t for Steam.

RaidenBlack290d ago

Dang, nice ... Alan Wake II is an amazing game
Can't wait for Control 2 and Max Payne Remakes

DustMan289d ago

Not sure why your getting down voted because you found Alan Wake 2 amazing. I'm in the same boat as you. Can't wait for Control 2 & the Max Payne remakes. Max Payne 1 & 2 were some of my favorite pc games from my early teens lol.

RaidenBlack289d ago

Coz N4G logic.
You cant praise a game if its got no physical release, not releasing on PS etc

isarai289d ago

Maybe this time we'll actually get a day 1 physical release

JEECE289d ago

And hopefully Steam/GOG options on PC.

Changes like not being anti consumer? putting out Alan Wake Remastered on disc but not the sequel?

ElaBosak403d ago

No one cares about games on discs.

ElaBosak403d ago

Good for them! Can't wait for Control and Max Payne remakes.
