MMOculture: Despite being supported by an anime series and its popular arcade game series in Japan, Gunslinger Stratos: Reloaded unfortunately will be closing on 29 March. Developer and publisher, Square Enix, did not elaborate much, except it was “difficult” to continue running the game. Gunslinger Stratos: Reloaded entered Open Beta in August, and it seems there are no plans for an overseas server.
Square Enix has promised to launch the Japanese MOBA Action game Gunslinger Stratos: Reloaded to the stage of open beta testing on August 6, but for some reasons it never happened. Now finally the open beta has started on August 21.
While other game companies are solely focused on mobile games in Japan, Square Enix has managed to diversify by launching several online PC titles. After Lord of Vermilion: Arena, Gunsligner Stratos: Reloaded is slated to enter Open Beta on 6 August. A Pre-Open Beta phase will take place from 1 August to 2 August, though only for players who signup now. There is no word on an English launch.
Square Enix is adapting their light gun arcade game Gunslinger Stratos into a PC title. Gunslinger Stratos Reloaded is a four on four team battling game, but there aren’t any cool interlocking light guns in this version. Players shoot each other in Gunslinger Stratos Reloaded using WASD and a mouse.
Gunslinger Stratos Reloaded will launch in Japan sometime this year. A closed alpha test for the PC game is scheduled for February 6. The alpha test will be open to 8,000 players and check server load. You can register for a chance to join the alpha test, but you’ll need a Japan region Square Enix Members account to enter.
